SOMEWHERE IN THE JCU...

Buddy (aka "The Pugnisher") sits atop the ledge of a nearby building, resting on his hind legs and watching the crowd below. These kinds of rallies are trouble. They undermine unity in Jump City, and the last thing this Metropolis needs is a rise in anti-metahuman sentiment. Marking metas and Atlanteans? Optional or not, it’s an offensive idea born of paranoia. And if these people dislike metahumans so much, how would they feel about a sapient canine uplift like himself? Buddy already knows the answer, but the pug figures he’ll stick around in case the situation gets out of hand. He’s morbidly curious to see what a provocateur like Milo is planning to say...

The pug closes his eyes and listens, feeling the breeze blow across his fur. Humans are sight-based animals, and while Buddy considers himself smarter than most humans, he’s still a dog. Hearing and olfaction are his preferred senses; whenever possible, the pug likes to lead with his ears and nose. His senses are assaulted by hundreds of sounds and smells; some pleasant and others... not so much.

The cheering of the crowd forces Buddy to open his eyes. Milo has come on stage and, as expected, the humans mostly go nuts for him. The pug rolls his eyes and rests his head on his front paws, ready to be entertained. In seconds, however, his head perks up as someone dives on stage toward Milo, and a ball of fire emerges from somewhere in the crowd...

Jeffrey's perception was good enough to see the fireball an instant after it left the hand of the perp. He quickly grabbed the ambient moisture in the atmosphere and formed it into a ball that quelled the fire just before it reached the stage.

I thought resonance was in Nightvale, she could be in JCU, but if she is in Nightvale I was hoping she'd be looking for what bar to go to.

I had written her as flying above the city in costume doing a patrol. I figured she'd watch for trouble and then swoop in and save the day. If there's a bar where she can see trouble from above, she'd head there.

Unless I'm misreading the sociopolitical situation, wandering through crowds in costume seems like a bad idea.


Resonance circles over the busier bars in town, watching the back alleys and side streets for trouble, observing the queues lining up to get in. Everything seems pretty calm for now, but you never know when something is going to go haywire...

Can anyone else inside the Red Rabbit hear the gunfire, JackJack? Is that the result of my investigation (nat 20) or did Johanna happen to find something that she can pester the bar owner about later with her cell phone?

Johanna rips her hand away from Aaron Vick and glances toward the doors. She tells him tersely. "I need to go outside for a moment. But get your office ready because we have some things we need to discuss." Pocketing her cell phone she pulls her aviator shades down from her hair across her eyes. She tries best as she can to sneak outside against anyone who is rushing to get in for safety, to see without being seen who is doing the shooting.
