The bandit grabs at his skull, screaming in pain as the horrific visions flood his mind.
OOC:
Failed his save (you never rolled damage). Gaines is up!
OOC:
Sorry, I've added it to the post. A big 2 damage! Take that, sinners!

As the bandit leader shakes the visions clear, he snarls and moves in toward Gaines. With a yell, the elder man grabs a blade from the seat of the wagon and screams wildly, swinging the short sword for all he is worth. he obviously has no real training, but what he lacks in finesse he makes up for in enthusiasm.

The blade flies wildly, and the approaching bandit laughs as the old man misses badly. His eyes go wide however, as he stumbles backward, looking down at his chest. A crossbow bolt lies buried in him. With a last glance upward, his mouth open in a silent cry of pain, he drops to his knees then falls over, lifeless.

"Our coin won't be so easy, lads! Come get it!" Yells Bastion, already reloading his crossbow. With a series of yells, more bandits come charging out of the woods to either side. A total of 5 of them, now that their speaker is down.
OOC:
Bandit turns coming shortly.

The bandits come rushing from both sides of the road, some loosing crossbow bolts while others brandish their swords. One of the crossbowmen fires at Gaines, and the bold buries into his left shoulder with a sicking sound as it pierces all of the way through muscle and bone. The older man cries out in pain, stumbling backward before catching himself on the wagon.

A second bolt likewise pierces through Mellon's right leg, and as he grabs the wagon in pain, the first bandit to arrive sticks him with his shortsword. Mellon cries out in pain once again, but manages to bring his own blade to bare against the brigand.
OOC:
Mellon is up!
Jul 23, 2019 8:18 pm
With a growl, the red-bearded man swings his blade heavily into the bandit, catching him right across the throat. With gargled cry, the bandit falls to his knees, cluthing at the gaping wound as it pumps the life from him into the grass.

Seeing the other wagoners wounded, Eldrog moves quickly to put himself between the bandits, Mellon and Bastion. Behind me! Defend the old man! he yells as he moves between the wagons, confronting the bandits. He swings his flail, but the closeness of the wagons and skittish horse throw off his aim and he just glances against the bandit.

Knowing that the ranged weapons are a bigger threat to him, William Gaines rushes the crossbow wielding bandit in front of him. Yelling curses as he does so, he swings his blade, but misses badly.

Stepping out to get a better angle, Bastion fires another bolt, this time at the bandit confronting Eldrog. The bolt hits the man right in the neck, and he spits out blood, staggering backward. Not dead, but he clutches at the shaft sticking out of him, the blood flowing freely from him.

The front bandit drops his crossbow as Gaines charges, and deftly avoids the old man's attack. With a quick thrust and twist of his dagger, he buries the blade deep into the old man's chest. With a soft cry, Gaines slumps to the ground, the blood already pooling on the ground around him. The bandit casually wipes his blade and retrieves the crossbow, reloading it for another attack.

Even with this severely wounded comrade and a horse half-blocking Eldrog, one of the bandits manages to slice down his arm with a short sword. The damage is not bad, but in retaliation Eldrog catches the gurgling bandit just as the man turns to flee. With a heave upward then down, the dwarf hits the bandit on the back of the head, his skull caving in and the body collapsing, dead before he hits the ground.

Off to the right, Mellon is engaged with the other crossbow bearer, who likewise pulls a dagger out to stick the red-haired wagoner. With a cry of pain, Mellon, too, collapses to the ground, his body not moving as the bandit reloads his crossbow.
OOC:
Bandits #5 and 6 fall! But, it seems that Gaines and Mellon fell as well. Eldrog is up!

Without missing a beat, Eldrog moves to greet the bandit who hit him. You're next, boy! he growls loudly, his dour features darkening as he attacks the man. A solid blow to the man's skull staggers him and he falls backward, scrambling to regain his feet as the blood from the wound pours down his head.

Fight or flee, boy! Eldrog challenges as the man tries to hold his ground.
