"My only concern is that your people..." Hunter begins, and hesitates as she looks at Shuushar before continuing, "... aren't reputed to be as... calm... as you are, much less pacifists. I worry about how we would be received."
Mar 11, 2016 4:29 pm
The Kuo Toa nods wisely, "You are correct, they have not achieved the state of calm that I have, but so long as I am with you they should let you through with no harm."
Mar 11, 2016 4:30 pm
Jimjar leans in to speak to Mai'ngor, "Bet you 10 gold they attack us on sight..."
Mar 11, 2016 4:53 pm
Hunter sighs. "Right. Well, I'm for heading to Sloobludop. At least it's along the way."
Mar 11, 2016 5:16 pm
"Sloobludop it is then!" Elfog roars in agreement. Not that he cares where the group is going, just that he is eager to get moving.
Mar 11, 2016 5:57 pm
Sarith takes up the lead again as you make your way to Sloobludop. Two days pass by uneventfully, which Shuushar spends giving you advice on dealing with is people: "Don't make too many sudden movements. Do NOT insult the Sea Mother for any reason, Do not be alarmed by any odd displays of devotion to the Sea Mother.

On the third day Sarith and Shuushar inform you that you should be there within a couple of hours. About an hour later, as you round a bend in the tunnels you see a group of nine Kuo Toa standing in the next chamber. Seeing you they bare their weapons and charge at you.

OOC:
Party get's the initiative!
Mar 11, 2016 6:03 pm
"Is this an odd display of devotion?!" Hunter quips. She steps back approximately 15 feet to the cavern wall, pulling Stool next to her. Staring at K2, she whispers arcane words to enchant and beguile it into attacking its allies.
OOC:
Casting Crown of Madness on K2. Target must make a Wisdom save vs DC 12 or be charmed.

Mai'ngor is glad he didn't take Jimjar up on his bet. The tikbalang keeps his weapons sheathed but goes into a defensive stance. He's certain that attacking this welcoming party would ruin any chance of their helping the group cross the lake. At any rate, if it should come to blows, his hooves would serve. "What do you advise now?" Mai'ngor yells at Shuushar.
OOC:
Taking the Dodge action.
Mar 11, 2016 6:27 pm
Soliin quickly drops into a crevasse along the wall, drawing his sword, just in case.

"Fight for your lives!" Shuushar responds to Mai'ngor's question

Stool and Shuushar shuffle back behind Hunter as she falls back and casts her spell, which does not take hold.

None of the Kuo Toa notice Xeliss transform and move away. Likewise, none of them see Soliin's stealthy approach.

K1, and K4 approach Elfog and stab out with their spears. They score a couple of minor hits (3 damage and 6 damage). At the same time Elfog strikes, scoring a solid hit on K1 (9 damage).

K7 throws a spear at Elfog which goes far wide of the mark.

KM1 bites and claws at Sarith furiously, scoring a vicious hit with a claw (11 damage)

He launches a counterattack, scoring a slight hit (3 damage).

K2 and K3 launch themselves at Jimjar, scoring some minor hits (4 and 3 damage).

Jimjar lashes out at K3 with his shortsword, hitting a couple of time and drawing blood with each skilled strike (3 and 5 damage).

KM1 shouts out to the others, speaking in Undercommon, a language most of you don't speak.

Naatkinson sent a note to Moofsalot
It doesn't seem like these Kuo Toa are going for the kill here. It appears that they're trying to simply capture you.

Soliin sneaks behind the furthest back enemy, and slides his sword into their back.
OOC:
I just reviewed the map and realize I doubt I could have gotten that far and attacked. I leave it to the GM of course, but given distances, if I can't get to the last guy, I'll go for someone off to the side, hopefully less noticed.
OOC:
Second crap. I misread your post. Can I change my attack to a sap? Non lethal? Still fail, but different attack?

"Shouldn't they be leaving us with no harm with you here?" Hunter asks Shuushar. "Having to fight for our lives doesn't exactly win us diplomatic points, does it?"

The half-elf unfolds her copper wire and hisses into it, "Mai'ngor, draw your sun sword!"
OOC:
Using action to cast Message for Mai'ngor. Hunter refrains from shouting so as not to draw attention to her group.

Heeding both Hunter and Shuushar, Mai'ngor decides he might be able to dominate the kuo-toa without killing them. He charges the kuo-toa leader, conjuring Sinag's blade as he does so. He pummels the kuo-toa with his hooves. Then, brandishing the sunblade, the tikbalang bellows, "Shuushar, tell them we come in peace, but if they continue to attack us I will burn them all with sun-fire, dry up the lake, and eat their Sea Mother for breakfast!"
OOC:

Mai'ngor rushes in as Sarith stumbles away, calling upon Sinag's light and kicking the leader of the Kuo Toa with his powerful hooves (9 damage). The creature staggers back under the weight of the blow, but manages to stay on its feet. All around the battlefield the Kuo Toa wince as the light assaults their light-sensitive eyes.

KM1 claws and bites at Mai'ngor viciously, but the tikbalang is able to avoid the worst of it. He takes just one wound, a nasty bite on his arm (3 damage). K5 is taken aback by the sudden surge of light and his attack miss Mai'ngor by a wide margin.

Elfog scores a fatal hit on K1, disemboweling the creature (11 damage) and taking it out of the fight. K4 and K7 try to capitalize on Elfog's reckless attack, but the sudden light from Sinag blinds them and he is able to easily regain a defensive posture and avoid their attacks.

K2, K3, and K6 have Jimjar surrounded and he is barely able to avoid their coordinated blows. The sudden surge of light gives him a brief respite until K6 lands a blow with his spear (4 damage)

Jimjar counterattacks, landing a couple of solid blows (20 damage), felling K3 once and for all.

Soliin misses his attack on K8. The creature, suprised by an attack from behind, spins around and thrusts out with its spear, but it misses, slamming the spear into the floor as it jabs down and shattering the thing in its hands.

Xeliss continues her slow way along the cavern walls, still unnoticed.

Shuushar yells something out in Undercommon, which Xeliss understands as, "We are here in peace, we just seek refuge!"

The Kuo Toa leader yells back, "Fool, you shall all be fed to the Deep Father!"

Shuushar looks confused, "Fight on, my friends! I do not know of this Deep Father, but it appears that things have gone wrong in my home!"
