A Time to Harvest - Chapter Five

The boy lies motionless and Taffy kicks the knife away.

From Jim's Grill, Gismend Rd turns into Davenport Street where Karner's Goods store is or you can turn left towards the main Macdonough Square. There seems to be some chanting going on at the square (though you have no clear view of it) and the dark clouds seem to be swirling above it.

So where to? Towards the goods store or the square?

You approach the centre of town and see the main square and Civil War memorial and the source of the shouting is clear. On the raised platform stand two of the huge tree-like things and between them a man, standing at an altar, chanting with a knife held in the air and corpses strewn around. The trees are hooting at the sky as the black cloud boil overhead. Around the platform, nine children are dancing and beyond it are a number of townspeople, tied up and guarded by another tree creature.

Hard to tell from here, but Mathis does remember that old driver telling you it was a fully functional civil war cannon.

As Mathis peers at the square, lightning flashes and you recognise the man at the altar. It’s none other than Deputy Cutter!

Eyeing the cannon, on other side of the square, Mathis heads back through the backs of the buildings, wondering if the cannon is actually loaded.

Mathis runs down MacDonaugh Avenue stopping only briefly at the office of the newspaper, the Cobb's Corners Gazette, where he met Richard Wendell. The building has been completely flattened.
