I feel like i should know this answer but i've 2 sanity values max 99, current 55 i assume i roll for the current?

Rolls

Sanity - (1d100, 1d100)

1d100 : (1) = 1

1d100 : (21) = 21

Yep, roll against current. Your max sanity is always 99 minus your Unnatural score. Your starting sanity is always lower than that, and it's possible to go above your starting sanity up to your current max. As you understand more about the true nature of the universe (represented by Unnatural), your capability to function in normal society decreases (represented by max sanity). However, you always roll against your current sanity.

Nothing eventful happens for the next few hours. The Agents continue to sort through a seemingly endless amount of seemingly meaningless debris.

Nice SAN rolls, btw. Only one failure.

King continued. He had committed to completing the task, so he persevered. At least until morning. After that they could take a break to run checks.

Karl rubs at his neck. The searching and the constant prickling at the back of his neck as if he's being watched is starting to wear on him, that much is clear. "When I get home, I swear, I'm throwing out 95% of the shit cluttering my apartment. No one is ever going to have to dig through this much nonsense when I up and go missing someday," he grumbles.

"You haven't met my ex-wife then. She kept everything too." King snickered.

Karl snorts out a laugh. "My ex was the organized one," he replies. "I used to be a reporter, back in the day. Without her, I'd have lost just about every note I ever took. Since we split up, well... let's just say none of her good influence rubbed off on me."

"Jeez, this is uncommon. Purson, a Great King of Hell. I know a ton about him. This was here? What the, erm, heck was she into?" She shivers and looks behind her briefly.

"A great king of what, now?" echoes Karl.

She fingers the image. "He could really help us. Her is typically depicted as being served and obeyed by twenty-two legions of demons. He knows of hidden things, can find treasures, and tells past, present, and future. Taking a human or aerial body, he answers truly of all secret and divine things of Earth and the creation of the world at the behest of Bael (the first and principal king of Hell)." She grows quieter. "He's exactly who we need."

Peering over Kylie's shoulder, Karl and King see what she's staring at. A scrap of old, torn, linen parchment tacked to the wall, with a strange symbol scrawled on it in gold ink:
[ +- ] The Sigil
Her fingers trace at the edges of the scrap as it awaits someone to pluck it down from the wall and add it to growing catalog of miscellany.
Sep 23, 2019 9:16 pm
"Uh huh. Because my life ain't complicated enough without making deals with the devil," says Karl skeptically, looking from the sigil to Kylie and back. "Or kings of hell, whether they're principal or just, you know... flunkies."

He holds up his hands as if surrendering.

"Hey, look... I totally agree there is some weeeeiiiiird shit going on here. But now we're talking about not just weird but completely looney tunes. I get that our girl was almost certainly into some serious occult stuff, but... that's one hell of a leap you're taking."

He pauses a moment. "No pun intended."

King walked over to Kylie at her last words. Her words seemed a bit off, what with her talk about needing the king of hell. King stood in front of her, breaking her line of sight to the strange sigil on the wall, and paused there, his own back facing the wall. "Take a deep breath. Clear what's in your head. Now explain again what we ought to be concerned about."

She shakes her head and takes a deep breath. So close, I can feel, something.

"Hey, I'm just saying this is a legit symbol. It isn't a random doodle. If she is looking for secrets, then this would be like, the patron anti-saint of finding shit out." She waves her hand about the room. "We've all felt the creepiness. Maybe this is an art nouveau project and we're aficionados, impromptu fans even. Or maybe, I don't know. I think I'm close to understanding, but the big picture is still missing."
Sep 24, 2019 2:33 am
King nodded. "Right, so someone's majorly dabbling in the occult, in a legit way. And we can definitely pick up the vibes here, as well as with the tenants and the building itself. You're right, we need some breakthrough evidence, something that allows us insight."
