OOC:
I always envisioned doing the whole evil ghost voice sounding like The Darkness (fun fact software wasn't used to alter the voice.) except feminine.
"Don't you move!" Feng shoves the headsman to the ground, facing the roaches. She feels her body start to contort and burn up, her voice becoming that of a demon with a feral look in her eyes. Her fingers crack as fire erupts from them, flowing up to her forearms. "Burn cowards." She rushes up to the roaches, mid step her fist flies towards a roach, as if yanking her body.

Coming to Iko's aid, Wei slices the cockroach completely in half, splattering the cleric in foul-smelling gore, but another rushes up and chomps on the fighter's leg!
OOC:
3 damage minus your 2 Armor. 1 damage in total.
Feng's flaming fist explodes another of the bugs, pelting the groveling herder in a shower of burning cockroach parts.
OOC:
With a Hack & Slash of 10, Feng may choose to do +1d6 damage (will be applied to a new target or targets) but expose herself to the enemy’s attack.
More and more of the bugs swarm through the gap in the corral fence, and start feeding on the screaming herder. Even more menace you with their hungry jaws.

What do you do?

Bite vs. Wei - (1d6)

Wei winced in pain as he feels the mandible slice his skin. Trying to keep himself between the roaches and Iko, Wei tries to see if he can find a way to corral the other roaches.
OOC:
If I did this right, I get 1 question. So let's go with.. What here is useful or valuable to me?

There's a dung cart nearby that could plug the hole. It would take two or three strong men to move it. Or one Zhang Wei.

What do you do?
Jun 26, 2019 3:30 am
Wei looks around and spots the dung cart. As he moves towards it he glances over his shoulder at his companions. "Watch my back, I'm going to try and plug the hole."
OOC:
With a 9 on bend bars and Lift gates, I can choose 2. I'll go with...It doesn't take a very long time, and nothing of value is damaged.

Again Meng made a slight bow, with his palms open, to show that he had no ill intent. Considering the perspective of those who wish to harm you will enlighten you more than violence will." The monk followed his master's precepts as he jumped fluidly down to where the guards indicated. "Then I am in error. Consider me a new recruit, looking for the barracks. This is the Geng household, is is not?" Meng continued his misdirection, hoping that Rong Hua was somewhere else by now.
OOC:
He knows it's the Guong household, of course. +1 XP marked from earlier.

The cart's wheel catches on a fencepost, and Wei has to realign the thing before moving it into place. It hardly takes any time at all, but the momentary delay allows another couple of cockroaches to bite you as they slip past.
OOC:
6 damage minus your 2 Armor. 4 damage in total.
There are now five of the bugs in the yard. Two of them are munching on the bloodied, screaming herder. The rest are running amuk. By now the commotion has drawn a crowd of grimy mumin who take one look at the scene and either run, screaming, or make the mistake of attempting to wrangle the cockroaches, which then turn on them.

What do you do?

In a moment of clarity Feng spots the bloodied headsman, her eyes twitch at the sight. "Nooooo....NO!" She practically leaps to the fool's defense, pummeling the two roaches with an onslaught of burning swings.
OOC:
Wow nice. I'll take the extra d6 damage this time.

Feng reduces the bugs to puddles of steaming goo. The sobbing headsman lies curled into a ball soaked in the bug guts and his own blood and urine. It's uncertain how grievously wounded he is. Three bugs remain.

What do you do, Iko?
Jun 26, 2019 6:44 am
Rong Hua took this chance to scurry away. With the guards distracted, she lightly jumped down, landing in the grounds of the compon as she looked around.
To the noble chambers then...
She murmured as she crept forward.

OOC:
Rong Hua roll Defy Danger (DEX) to remain undetected as you leap across. That is Roll+DEX (in your case that is 2d6+2, and in this instance you have an additional +1 to the roll thanks to Wu Meng's Aid move) so 2d6+3.
Jun 26, 2019 7:36 am
OOC:
Mark 1 XP, Rong Hua.

I'm about to head out, will post what happens next when I get back.

The cockroach group can keep going.
Jun 26, 2019 10:50 am
Not wanting to cause too much more damage, Iko will join the mumin who are attempting to wrangle the remaining roaches. While the priest had little experience with animals, he did have a noticable indifference to pain that might help him.
OOC:
Not sure what move to roll for this.

OOC:
Iko, roll Defy Danger (CHA) to calm the roaches.

The Guong Estate

Rong Hua's foot dislodges a shingle as she leaps off the roof, sending the tile crashing to the street below and alerting the sentries to her presence.

"Another one!" the archer yells, the thief in his sights, but his shot goes wide as a dagger pierces his throat, killing him instantly. Before his lifeless body hits the ground, another dagger takes the spearman in the back and stumbles, choking, lung pierced and filling with blood. Rong Hua spots the assailant before she clears the wall and lands in a roll inside the Guong courtyard. It's the lamplighter. Except this man is not a lamplighter at all; Rong Hua spots a tattoo on the back of the man's hand, in the shape of a black lotus. The mark of Zhao Xun, the assassin. The man scales the wall like a spider and vaults into the courtyard opposite Rong Hua. Flashing her a sly smile, Zhao Xun races into the noble's house.

The remaining human sentry sends the two crab-men after Wu Meng, then reaches for a whistle to raise the alarm.

What do you do, Wu Meng?

Rong Hua, do you go after Zhao Xun, or go to Wu Meng's aid?
Jun 26, 2019 1:44 pm
OOC:
Will do.

Rolls

Defy Danger (CHA) - (2d6)

(33) = 6

Jun 26, 2019 1:49 pm
OOC:
Mark 1 XP, Iko.
Whatever Iko is doing, it's agitating the roaches even more. Two of them turn on the cleric, mandibles gnashing! The last one scuttles over to the headsman. What will you do, Feng, Wei and Iko?
Jun 26, 2019 4:05 pm
Another assassin! But this one aided them, Meng thought. There were other parties interested as well. The text contained valuable information about the illegitimate progeny of the crown prince, it was a text people were willing to kill for.

"Go." Meng gestured calmly at Rong Hua to hurry after the assassin. With another bow to the approaching crab-men, "It seems we have no choice in this matter," Meng sprung forward, mantis style, and aimed his blows at both his opponents.
OOC:
Wu Meng's unarmed strikes are precise (roll+DEX), and have a range of close. That keeps him slightly out of range of the crabmen for a while, maybe?

Iko clicks his tongue in disappointment. As long as he was under attack, at least none of these people were in any immediate danger. The priest goes on the defensive, striking a wide stance and weaving his staff slowly through the air in front of him, ready to ward off the roaches.
OOC:
EDIT: It's a good thing Iko's a bit of a masochist or he'd be having a bad time right now...

The Guong Estate

The crab-men advance on Wu Meng, their half-intelligent faces daubed with paint, marking them as Guong Clan property. Wu Meng strikes, lightning-quick like a mantis, but his fists only glance off the crab-men's tough shells! One razor-sharp claw finds him and holds him fast!

With no one to stop him, the human guard blows on his whistle, raising the alarm in the compound!
OOC:
Mark 1 XP and take damage rolled below, Wu Meng.
Quote:
Crab-man
Claws (d8+1 damage, 3 piercing); 10 HP; 4 Armor
Close, Reach, Messy
Special Qualities: Amphibious

The Cockroach Pens

Iko stands his ground but the crazed roaches overwhelm him. One chomps his staff in two, the other knocks him flat on his back!

Mark 1 XP, Iko.
