OOC:
Roll your damage, Rong Hua.

PbP is slow. One of the things we do to keep the ball rolling is: When you roll 7 and above on Hack & Slash, go ahead and roll your damage. No need to wait for my prompt. ;-)

Rong Hua
You hear a hiss of pain, telling you the invisible being can be wounded. You are dragged, kicking and struggling, through a flap in the back of the tent. There's an iron cage here, with a motionless figure lying on the floor. It looks like you are about to be tossed into the cage too. What do you do?

Wei
You hear her call out, and see her being dragged away by an unseen force. What do you do?

You make for the East Water Gate. As you draw near, you gather some sort of trouble is happening over there. No one you ask knows for certain, but you do hear someone say a fire has started among the caravan camps.
Aug 13, 2019 2:51 pm
"From what I know of Rong Hua, it is likely she's already in the midst of trouble." Meng flashed a small smile, and pointed in the direction of the fire. "She was definitely heading towards the departing caravans to look for the missing girl."

At the sight of Rong Hua being dragged by her hair, something snaps in Zhang Wei. With an angry shout, Wei leaps towards her and swings his sword in the attempt to hit her attacker.

OOC:
Mark 1 XP.
You lash out with Kun Wu, but the blade cleaves nothing but air. There is a shimmer above Rong Hua, and the sorcerer materializes, a clawlike hand grasping your beloved by her braid. The Hiptite points a skeletal finger at you, and there is a blinding flash as magical projectiles of pure malice shoot forth and slam painfully into you!

Rong Hua

Atekhramun still has you by the hair, but his attention is on Wei. What do you do?

You arrive at the courtyard of the East Water Gate. You see no fire, but there is a large tent billowing with unnatural, greenish smoke. Something else is happening behind the tent, evidenced by occasional flashes of bright light. Some people are running and calling for water buckets to put out the fire, and there are some screaming something about a sorcerer. Dae-Won points out a slim figure running towards the tent, an arrow nocked to its bow. "Sungyeol," says the elf.

What do you do?
Aug 13, 2019 11:08 pm
"He needs to back up, now." Feng tries to get her bearings on the situation, not about to charge straight at a sorcerer.
OOC:
Assuming I'm doing everything right, I'd like to know:

What here is not what it appears to be?
What should I be on the lookout for?
What is about to happen?

Feng, you know fire and smoke. You can tell that greenish smoke is most unnatural. That tent isn't burning... yet. There's another flash, and Wei comes into view, stumbling backwards, trying in vain to fend off magical darts with his sword. The swordsman is hit, but fights on. Sungyeol shoots arrow after arrow. What sort of sorcerer could possibly stand against those two? He must be formidable indeed! Perhaps if you snuck up on the other side, you could catch him unaware. What do you do?

"That must be Atekhramun. He is a Hiptite magician. The girl who was kidnapped is called Mei." Wu Meng recalled all the information he was given earlier. "I shall charge the front to help Wei immediately. If you want, circle from the back to cut him off." With that, Meng leapt forward in a graceful arc and entered the fray.
OOC:
Can Meng Volley from where he is? Or does he need to get closer first?
Aug 14, 2019 1:35 pm
OOC:
Current distance to the fight is Far. Your thrown weapons have a range of Near. And you see Wei, but do not yet have line of sight to Atekhramun. So yes, you'll need to close some of the distance.

Wu Meng darts forward and finally sees what Wei, Rong Hua, and Sungyeol are up against.

Rong Hua tries to roll into a crouch and stab at Atekhramun, but the Hiptite has an unbelievable strong grip on her braid, throwing off her balance. "You bitch!" he screams, and kicks her in the ribs.
OOC:
Take 3 damage and mark 1 XP, Rong Hua.
Fighting through the pain, Wei charges the sorcerer. Kun Wu bites deep and tastes Hiptite blood.

Atekhramun's eyes blaze, and draws himself up to his full height. A forked tongue darts from his mouth, and his skin grows scales. Soon, the sorcerer has transformed into a gigantic snake. Still holding Rong Hua in the grip of its coiled body, it sinks its fangs into Wei!
OOC:
Wei has 2 armor, but the fangs are 1 piercing (ignores 1 pt of armor). So net damage is 7.

Iko and Feng glimpse the giant snake briefly as it towers over the tent, then it disappears from sight as it strikes someone on the ground.

Meng, you watch in horror as the giant snake simultaneously tries to swallow Wei whole, and crush Rong Hua with its body!

What do you do (all of you)?
Aug 14, 2019 5:40 pm
"That's a damned serpent!" Feng does as Wu Meng instructs, although she isn't sure she could stop such a monstrous creature from escaping.
OOC:
Can I move and prime burning hands?
Aug 14, 2019 5:46 pm
OOC:
Yes, you can. In DW, there isn't any real "action economy" as we know it from many of our other RPGs. As long as it makes sense, you can do attempt it. But I appreciate that you asked. :-)
Aug 14, 2019 7:41 pm
Feng feels the fire begin to overtake her, breathing in her own flume of smoke. As her hand ignites she has an idea, and grabs the very flame, wrestling and shaping it into what appears to be burning throwing knives.
OOC:
Great, Rolling.

Iko observes the snake with interest, deciding to follow his companions and close the distance, clutching his pitifully small knife he took from the thugs.
