Part 2: Phandalin

Wish examines the contents of the cubby in the light of the flickering torch.

(OoC: Did I miss some XP at some point? As far as I've tracked, we're still 180 XP short of level 3)
Dec 31, 2015 5:31 pm
"Wish, I may not be the smartest, but my mom did teach me numbers, and I got them all added up like this:"
50 goblin ambush
75 finding goblin hideout
25 eliminating goblin hideout sentries
10 bridge goblin fall down
125 killing goblins in hideout
150 killing klarg
200 rescuing Sildar and completing dungeon
25 betrayal of yeemik
100 fighting redbrands outside sleeping giant
50 fighting redbrands inside sleeping giant
110 nothic
= 920 XP

Kama peers at the genasi. "Should I be trusting you with the money?"
Dec 31, 2015 6:51 pm
Wish grins roguishly and turns back to the object in the cubby.

(OoC: I must have missed the 200 XP from completion of the goblin lair.

I'm going for Thief archetype, since neither of the others make sense, character-wise.)

Kama playfully punches Wish on the shoulder, a gesture of camaraderie. He steps back to allow the genasi access to the little cubby and chest within.

Oof.

Wish opens the chest to find: 160 sp, 120 gp, five malachite gems, two potions of healing, and a scroll of augury.

Also contained within is a beautiful longsword in a silver-chased scabbard with the word "Talon" engraved on it. The hilt is worked in the shape of a bird of prey with out spread wings.
Jan 2, 2016 5:38 am
Hollow gasps when she sees the chest removed from the nothic's cubby. She stares at it then moves to the rope the men used to climb down. "Please, pass that box up here."

When she she receives it she peers inside and turns over ans around somewhat frantically.
Jan 2, 2016 7:43 am
Wish holds the sword up, entranced by the gleam of silver in the flickering torchlight.

But the weight is all wrong; the weapon is made for crushing and hacking - not Wish's style at all. He slides it back in the scabbard and hands it to Kama: "Would this suit you, or maybe Xora? Too heavy for me."

He then ties the rope to the chest so that Xora and Hollow can haul it up.
Jan 2, 2016 5:35 pm
Hollow carefully searches the box. After several minutes of searching, she is shocked to find a small notch in the bottom of the chest. Sticking her finger in she finds a latch, which she quickly releases and reveals a false bottom to the chest. She takes a deep breath and opens it up to reveal a thick, black book bound in what appears to be leather.

Were he a different man, Wish would be methodical about searching the bottom of this crevasse. But he is who he is, so he climbs back to rejoin Hollow and Xora and see what all the fuss is about.

Kama will give an undignified push to Wish's rear, boosting the genasi up the rope. "Let's go. There's a wizard to manage here."
Jan 3, 2016 4:30 pm
Hollow turns the black book over in her hands. With a slightly trembling hand she opens the clasp and flips through the pages. She whispers to herself, "How can this be here?"

Stowing the book in her pack she absently replies to Kama's statement by saying, "Yes, Glasstaff must be dealt with."
Jan 5, 2016 7:50 am
Once he finally struggles his way to the top of the rope - it was so much easier on the way down! - Wish looks around and can barely see anything, as the only light is cast by the flickering light of the torch at the bottom of the ravine. He sets about lighting another torch, and as he does so, remarks: "Well, there's two passages on this side, or we could cross one of the bridges to see what's on the other side...once I get another torch lit, of course. Does anyone have a preference, or a hunch as to which way to go first?"
Jan 5, 2016 2:09 pm
I take the blade with a shrug and attach it to my pack. "Continue moving now or rest first, in case there are any additional 'surprises' later?" I continue to keep a vigilant eye out to examine our surroundings for any indication that we've been discovered and/or are being ambushed. One can never be too paranoid.

"I would not mind a short rest," says Kama. "I also wouldn't mind that healing potion."

He points towards the far end of the cavern. "There's a small room on the other side there, across the bridge. We could rest there, if it's safe. While I don't like leaving unexplored hallways behind us, I think venturing within them would take more time and lead us into possible battle."

Wish gives Kama a healing potion and prepares to cross the bridge toward the indicated door, lit torch in hand.
Jan 5, 2016 9:40 pm
"I agree with Kama on this. Lets check that room and use it as a hiding spot. It seems a defensible situation, at the least better than letting someone show up from either of the other pathways." Then she follows Wish.

You all cross the bridge at the north end of the cavern and enter the room. This area is the north end of a large natural cavern, but it has been finished with dressed stone block walls and a flagstone floor. Several barrels are stored against the walls here, along with a number of empty crates, straw for packing, hammers, pry bars, and nails. This room appears to be otherwise empty.

Kama looks about the room, mostly to detect if anything is amiss or stands out of place. He is, however, preoccupied with finally quaffing that magical potion.

Upon further inspection Kama finds two secret doors in the room. One to the left of the entrance and one in the back right corner.
Jan 6, 2016 1:30 am
Upon having the secret doors pointed out, Hollow takes another look at the room to determine how much traffic this room gets.

:::Not sure if this is a Perception or Investigation roll. I will roll Investigation but if it is a Perception roll then subtract 2 from the total to reduce my bonus properly.:::
