Marc drives his speeder as close to the temple as he can up the series of switchbacks. A little distance from the temple, he secures his speeder then stares up at the temple thoughtfully. He thumps Helvar on the side. Let's go exploring, old boy. Marc approaches the temple carefully, on guard but hopeful that if nothing else, he might be able to meditate and find some peace here before moving on.

Heyop and Csillag approach the smoking crater. It looks like bits and pieces of a TIE fighter have been flung about -- and the main crater appears to contain some smoking remnants of the cockpit of one. It's clear from here that no one, and nothing of interest, could have survived the impact.

Marc parks his speeder at the base of the mountain trail and walks up. As he gets closer to the temple he disappears into a tunnel that shows recent maintenance. Light fixtures gleam brightly, making the short tunnel a pleasant distraction rather than an ominous outcome. In time he comes up into the courtyard of a temple -- perhaps an old Jedi temple. The courtyard shows sign of decay that is being meticulously cleared and repaired and a small stream runs out of the temple down into some falls and eventually one of the rivers below. However Marc finds his arrival has not gone unnoticed.

Standing at the entrance of the temple, awaiting him, is Hethan Romund, a human male a togruta female and two shimmering blue presences. One a Zabrak and the other a Cerean.

With no more questions coming his way, Joka relaxes a bit and observes Csillag and Heyop as they inspect the crash site. Judging it unlikely to bear fruit, he remains behind and gives them space to draw their own conclusions or discuss without having a newcomer looking over their shoulders.

Marc rests his left fist in his upturned right palm, bowing slightly to Hethan Romund in the ancient form of the salute taught to him by Nez. Well met, teacher, he says humbly. Marc looks at the other four people standing there; the Human Male, Togruta Female and the two shimmering blue presences. Are these beings allies to you, Teacher?

Looking over the wall of the crater at what used to be a TIE fighter Csillag looks over to Heyop.

"Think some of his friends might come looking for this one?"
Feb 7, 2017 11:00 pm
"Marc!" Hethan states and she strolls forward, leaving the other four behind. "Kaveri is a former student of mine and she's taken to looking after the temple. Urik is still a young man learning the way of the world -- and the Force. The other two are Guardians of this Temple. It's good to see you again -- I guess you must have gotten my call for help?"

I did Teacher, but I was already on the run when I received word of your trouble. I am glad to see that you are well. I have no doubt that you remember my father. He has murdered my mother and together with his friend Baron Aiken is hunting me to turn me over the to the Emperor so Emperor Palpatine can examine me and either bend me to his will or destroy me. My mother mentioned when she was dying that she did something to amplify my power in the Force when I was a child and it is because of that power that the Emperor is interested in me. Marc pauses and bows again, Ah, but where are my manners! Teacher, it appears that you do not need my help any longer. It does my heart good to see you but if you wish me to leave, I will understand. I have no wish to bring trouble down on you.

OOC:
Mal -- Marc's up at the temple -- you guys aren't there yet. You're near a smoking pit of a TIE fighter.
Feb 8, 2017 5:44 pm
usually the empire doesn't bother with retrieval missions. don't need the scrap metal and bodies are usually unrecoverable. Unless he ejected...
OOC:
can I see if the pilot ejected or not?
Feb 8, 2017 5:59 pm
Heyop nods since he figures Mal being the most experienced with Tie Fighters would know. "If there's nothing useful lets see if there's a body to bury or a pilot stuck in a tree..." he offers and looks about for a corpse.

Marc attempts to hold himself together, making a powerful effort to discipline his emotions. He wants to ask Hethan Romund for permission to meditate in the Temple, he wants to ask her to somehow ease the torture of his mother's death. He struggles within though, he knows that this is his burden and now that Hethan Romund is safe, she would be better off if he leaves this planet. He wishes there was some way to know if Nez is still safe or if the wise old warrior had bitten off more than even he could chew.

Average is always reasoanble as a place to start - I usually add or subtract from it if I need to.
The crumpled cockpit of the TIE suggests that it's highly unlikely that anyone inside would have survived. There's no indication that he's ejected, either. It looks like the TIE was cutting it a little close and probably clipped a tree. In that environment there's simply no likelihood that someone could have ejected before crashing.

Up at the temple...

Hethan regards Marc carefully. "I'm sure you're welcome here. Others like you have come here to better understand the Force and it seems a peaceful sort of place. The others are in the city at the moment looking for another of the guardians of this place, but one hopes they'll be back shortly."

Seeing that Hethan knows the Zabrak before them, the Togruta and the human male leave his induction to the Dawn Temple to her and head back indoors.
OOC:
Marc -- these are former players who are now effectively NPCs here -- but in case their players come back I try to minimize my hijacking of them.

Heyop bows his head once they come to the pilot's demise and says a few words under his breath while closing his eyes. Raising his head and opening his eyes he nods to Mal in the direction of the temple.

"Csillag, you good or did you want to drive the rest of the way back?" he inquires as he nears the speeders.
Feb 8, 2017 10:43 pm
"I'm good" Csillag replies. "Let's go."
Feb 8, 2017 10:46 pm
Joka slithers to the speeders. "I'm intrigued by your description of this temple. I'd like to follow you there if it's not too much trouble..."

Marc thanks Hethan and gratefully goes into the temple to find a quiet place to meditate. He is thankful that Hethan did not turn him away and looks forward to some meditative solitude to contemplate the events that have wrecked his world recently.

Heyop gets on a speeder and waits for Csillag and nods in the direction again, "Long as you're not causing trouble." Once she's on he'll move the speeder in that direction.

Marc enters the Dawn Temple and although it remains in some disrepair, it's clear that the people who live here have been taking the time to improve the situation to the best of their ability without calling undue attention to themselves.

The Dawn Temple

Marc is directed to the balcony on the western edge of the temple as an excellent place to meditate and consider. The view from the balcony is especially impressive, covering not only the western half of the grounds, but also the slopes of Mount Tellec and much of the valley beyond. And even after all the years of disuse it retains a significant aura of tranquility.
OOC:
I'll perhaps cut a new thread on the Dawn Temple somewhere so y'all can have a reference for it.
Down in the foothills, Mal, Csillag, Heyop and Joka find themselves on speeders once more and make their way to the temple. When they arrive, they see an unfamiliar speeder parked at the base of the mountain.
OOC:
I don't want to assume your reaction here, so giving you space. Also -- I'm out of town later today through Sunday evening, so I may not post again, if you're driving to get to the temple and do requisite introductions/etc. and some character interaction, feel free to proceed without me on that account! We'll get to the third caretaker next week.
