2.0 - Lure of the Lost

Dagger no longer has his glow rod, opting to give it away on the last planet. No longer being chased by a large creature he collects himself and unholsters his blaster.

I don't have one anymore. Anyone got a light?, Dagger asks as he peers as far into the cave as the light will shine.
OOC:
Adding another perception role to see what further into this cave looks like. Do I see any sparkly crystals or is it just dark cave?

"I don't have anything with me, no." Csillag answers as she checks her robe. If she's able to, Csillag will slowly approach the cave entrance and peek out at the beastie that was giving chase.

Someone can flip a destiny point for a glow rod if need be.

OOC:
Adding a setback die to Dagger's perception due to the lack of light source -- you're at the mouth of the cave, so the light level isn't terrible, but it's not perfect.
Dagger looks around, his SoroSuub X-30 Lancer Precision Blast Pistol in hand. By and large -- it's just a cave -- but there's a passageway towards the back end of the cave that leads deeper.

OOC:
I got the blaster pistol off of a d100 roll at https://triumphdespair.wordpress.com/tag/random-tables/ - opted to use it to get away from 'generic blaster pistol' -- if you'd prefer another one, go ahead and pick it.

Setback for Dagger

Dagger moves through the cave to an object he spots. Guys, we have a downed probe droid here!, he calls back as he bends down to inspect it. It looks pretty well battered, no doubt from our furry friend. We should stay sharp, chances are these probes are all around down here.

He spots something else and moves over to a comm relay that is inside the cave. I wonder if there is more than just probe droids down here...

Dagger moves back to the probe droid and starts tinkering with the busted droids computer systems.
OOC:
Love the added canon. I'm going to see if I can leverage my computers skill to find anything out about this probe droid, or any info it may contain. Let me know if my code breaker skill might be used to find encrypted communications in the droid.

Dagger furrows his brow and pokes around at the probe droid. He's a little rusty on his slicing skills of late, and the pressure of poking around causes him some mental strain (2 to be precise). However, he's able to get a sense of the droid's mission -- it's a straight forward scan-and-report mission, perhaps using the comm array as a way to boost the signal or relay it for when the droid is deeper in the cave system.
Mar 3, 2016 3:49 pm
Dagger slumps down on a rock to catch his breath. All the activity is finally getting to him.

I think we are definitely going to run into more of these. Probably sending communications back up with that relay, Dagger says.
OOC:

OOC:
I flip one.
Heyop having caught his breath patted himself down and pulled a glow rod out of his pouch. With a soft "Oh." he flicked on the device and looked around. "Could we stop outgoing signals on the relay or delay them a few hours?" he asked looking at the electronics array and the droids... "Maybe we should take one with us... if we're going to explore further in." he added.

I can try and shut it down. I only hope they aren't checking in regularly, Dagger says. He puts his hands on his knees and pushes himself to standing, very reluctantly.

He walks over and finds the small data pad on the relay and starts trying to shut down the device.

Dagger and Urik take a moment and let the heat of the planet wash over them -- it's actually a little more pleasant in the shade of the cave. Not at all the grueling, dirty, sandy sweatbox it is out there. Dagger recovers 4 strain, Urik recovers 3 strain.

At Heyop's behest, Dagger fiddles with the calm relay. It sparks obligingly as he works on it, causing a small electrical burn that's more annoying than anything else (Dagger suffers 1 strain for a net gain of 3 strain with his rest above). The comm relay appears to be thoroughly disabled.
Mar 3, 2016 5:32 pm
Dagger steps back from the device which is still spitting out a spark here and there and making popping noises as it does. He looks back at Heyop, Well it's down. Unfortunately that probably isn't going to be coming back online.

Dagger shrugs and then draws his blaster again and heads further into the cave. Time to see what these droids are probing.
Mar 3, 2016 11:19 pm
After catching a bit of rest herself Csillag will follow along with the others. She stops for a second at the downed droid and gives it a bit of a nudge with her foot as she passes. "Why are we going deeper into the cave again?"
OOC:
I won't even pretend to know how to resolve that roll. ;-)

Csillag rests up a bit and exudes such calmness that everyone benefits -- feeling better about the task ahead.

Everyone recovers 3 strain.
Mar 4, 2016 1:05 pm
Heyop grunts to Dagger a thanks, "I'd prefer to think that means one less thing that we'll run into down here. At least we have a door guard of sorts." before Csillag asked a valid question, "We're looking for crystals and I guess they'd be under ground... why here? Well if the Empire is checking out the area there's possibly something down here useful... better in our hands then theirs... at least in a small amount." he states realizing it would have been nice to bring a backpack.

After about a minute of carefully walking deeper into the cave, you come to the first of your decisions. A smaller branch of the cave appears to lead off to the right -- or you can continue to walk deeper into the cave system and see what lies ahead. The air is still, and cool -- and the dust of the planet makes your mouth a little dry.
OOC:
Since this is PbP and nothing is worse than transactional maze-wandering on PbP, perhaps you can give me some ideas on how your characters move through the caves, and what your priorities are? I can be a little more narrative with that approach. Also, feel free to push along the overall narrative a bit if you like -- that's coo by me too. I'll tie in important things as they come up.
Mar 5, 2016 9:15 am
Dagger will sneak down the smaller corridor, signaling the others to follow, but often not checking to make sure they do.

His general strategy is to find the most unassuming path, following his own internal logic. To him if the probe droids are still here and active in the area they are looking for something. But with no empire around they haven't found it yet. He assumes the most obvious looking paths would have been scanned by the probe droids already.
Mar 5, 2016 11:51 am
Following up from the center after Dagger while he scouts ahead Heyop's glowrod dances around keeping an eye on their surroundings and that everyone is still with the group.
OOC:
Priority: Imminent threats, Keeping an eye on the group (so that we don't lose someone and notice 30 minutes later)
Mar 6, 2016 5:51 pm
Csillag will retain her position at the rear of the group. Stopping on occasion to keep a watch behind but never for long as she doesn't want to lose the glow of Heyop's glowstick up ahead.
OOC:
Priority: Making sure the group is not being followed.
Mar 7, 2016 10:11 am
Kaveri will remain on medium alert, recognizing that, with their glow rod, they're unlikely to sneak up on anything, but there's still the possibility that she could bag a probe droid or other threat before it raises an alarm.
OOC:
Priority: identifying and checking any passages too narrow for probe droids to pass through...those seem the most likely to have undiscovered saber crystals.
