Remnant says:
OOC:
Since he's doing a better job now I figure he had backup.
Ah ok, just wanted to make sure I'd been clear before :-)
Darlane smiles and nods and raises her drink in a toast "Good hunting" she says as you leave. As walk through the tap room of the Wayward Wanderer you're acutely aware of the 'patrons' eyes on you all.
OOC:
So whats the plan then? Where are you heading first? Locations of interest from what Darlane told you:

The gaol where the catfolk was being held and presumably released from
The bar Ruben was killed in
The area that Maris was in when she was 'mugged'
There is also the 'friend' that passed the information about the catfolk being released onto Darlane

If you want anything clarifying about the above (or anything else) just shout out and we can assume you asked Darlane for details before you leave the meeting

"'To find the snake's head, start with the tail,' my people say. Maybe we check the dungeons of the watch to 'innocently' ask after the Catfolk bandits we delivered to them? They must have an official story for the escape."

"Well since they were officially 'released' I'm sure investigating into if they were working in concert with the Goblin Matron for the Lord of the City unofficially is a nice cover and a bit on the nose as well. Finding out they were gone would lead to us asking who signed them out and who was on shift if there's no paper trail I figure, being a bit cheeky and a bit blunt might work in cutting through the paperwork I guess. Blatantly asking if someone was released that may be involved with economical terrorism and pulling money out of the City and Nobles might make most guards nervous if they're lead to believe their name would be mentioned in reporting it. To the Gaol to see where he was to sniff out things to start should work."

Khurza looks on as Pomin explains his theory, her face a mixture of confusion and determination to understand him. "...Your mouth, the words flow from it like a river. I will show you how to get someone to talk with but a sentence, to the gaol.

You proceed across town to the imposing building of the city court house. Darlane told you that the gaol is located within the same building. You can see a large set of doors at the front of the building flanked by a could of guards but it seems that a side entrance is seeing most of the foot traffic in and out of the building.

Pomin goes with the traffic and enters from the side entrance.
Dec 2, 2019 4:07 pm
"Who should do the talking?" Jabari says, taking in the massive structure, eyes wide. "I wasn't around when these Catfolk tried to kill you, but I've grown used to dealing with the law since I came to your lands."
OOC:
Jabari is our best Charmer, and any setbacks he'd get on Charm here would be most likely wiped out by his Knack for It talent. But he wasn't present during the attack, so it's kind of meta-gamey to have him do the talking.
Dec 2, 2019 5:45 pm
"If we don't have to really sweet talk around things I should do okay. If it takes a strong arm Lady Khurza picking someone up by the neck and slapping them into the face until they talk would honestly work quite well also."
Dec 2, 2019 6:24 pm
Jabari nods. "Following your lead." He looks up, up, up at Khurza, meeting her gaze. "And yours."
Dec 2, 2019 9:31 pm
"I will try not to grab them by the neck, unless it is necessary. These communities react violently to negotiations."
Dec 9, 2019 2:04 pm
As you enter the building you find yourselves in a large brightly lit entrance chamber with a high ceiling. A balcony rings the room with two sets of stairs lead up to the upper floor. Dark wooden beams crisscross the ceiling in an almost intricate pattern seeming to curve almost organically round the few skylights that are illuminating the chamber. A number of individuals are milling about the chamber, as newcomers enter various junior clerks are directing them to the officials who can assist them and you soon find yourself stood in front of the desk of a more senior looking dwarf with a close trimmed slightly greying beard. "Yes, what do you need? Something about a prisoner was it?" the dwarf addresses you all in general in a very clipped tone.
Dec 9, 2019 2:40 pm
"Yes Master Dwarf that is indeed the case, it's in reference to a job assigned by the City Lord. We're curious into why they're not here and under what grounds were they released and to who?" Pomin states before saying in a lower tone. "I mean this individual is in league with a group attempting economical terrorist acts on Dawnsmoor trade routes, openly attacking caravans, even civilian women and children as possible witnesses, surely letting them go free was to find out their benefactor's identity before the Dawnsmoor's civil state doesn't lead to chaos and rioting, well played by the City Guard I must say, such an act will be mention in the future report to the City Lord on the Insight and Control of the City Guard. So what are you privy to tell us about your investigation or should we meet up someplace more covert?" he states knowingly with a look of respect on his face as he nods.
OOC:
Yeah I know that's a lot of half truths and bull but hey they might read between the lines and realize the prisoner not being here is a bad thing for them if it's reported in a certain way that paints negligence and/or incompetence. Let me know if a roll is required.
Dec 10, 2019 1:57 pm
The dwarf stares at Pomin as expressionless as stone before giving themselves a slight shake and making a huffing kind of noise "Well, all that seems very impressive and I'm sure it's keeping you quite busy but some details about this individual would be somewhat useful in getting you some information. Reciting the details of every criminal we have ever held would be somewhat tiresome" he maintains his focus on Pomin and waits for the details.
Dec 10, 2019 3:06 pm
"Male Cat-folk brought in by a merchant madam named Darlane." Pomin states adding in a description of the person and a time frame of when they probably got put in confinement.
Dec 13, 2019 11:40 pm
The dwarf grunts in what you assume is satisfaction at the details Pomin has given him before turning to a set of shelves and pulling out a thick looking tome. Returning to the desk with it he opens it and quickly flicks through the pages until he settles on one and begins to study the entries. After a few moments he frowns before looking up at you all with an annoyed expression "I'm afraid you are mistaken, there was no one matching that description confined to the city gaol during the days you have mentioned"
OOC:

The dwarf stares at Jabari with a look that could melt steel before answering "Of course I am. The ledgers are quite clear. Now unless there are any other non-existent people you need me to look for I have actual work I need to be on with".

As the dwarf is talking you all notice one of the nearby guards has been paying an undue amount of attention to you all and just as the dwarf finished speaking they turn and begin heading for an exit.
OOC:
somebox - that's a crazy roll! Any ideas for your triumphs?
