Soooooo....
I just watched Valerian and the city of a Thousand Worlds. Don't feel bad for me. I did it to myself. Instead, feel bad for all those brain cells I'll never get back.
Joking aside, even though that movie was terrible, the setting is amazing, and seems like it would be ripe for a scifi rpg. I'm checking to see if anyone is interested in an rpg set in the setting. Probably starting off in Alpha, and then moving onto a starhopping adventure if it lasts.
For those of you who are unfamiliar with the setting, it's a pretty classic space opera with some dimension hopping mixed in. The titular city of a thousand worlds was originally the international space station. As humans kept going into space the ISS kept getting expanded with each nation that made it to space adding to the station, until we encountered aliens. Then the aliens started adding to the station. As we encountered more and more aliens, the space station kept getting bigger and bigger, until it got so big that it needed to be moved away from earth. Fast forward a few thousand years and the station is now called Alpha and there are something like 8 million different species on the mega-station. It has a wide array of different biodomes to support different kinds of aliens.
I could DM, but fair warning, I don't have a lot of experience running PBP games. If I ran it, I would probably do starfinder as I'm more familiar with those rules than anything, but someone recently told me about Tiny Frontiers, which seems really simplitic and I could probably pick up. If some one else wants to take the wheel, I'm happy to let someone else drive and be the DM.
If you're interested, post here and tell me about what kind of game you want to play. Ideally you should say what your focus is (combat or RP) what you like in a campaign, and anything else that would be good to know for a DM.
For me, I like spaceships, so expect a lot of those.
