"First round is on me" Doc says, trying to cover up his bewilderment over completely losing his bearings in a city he's visited several times before. He walks into the bar

Fort Barracks

Johan stops with the food contest, when he sees that others are getting nervous.
He is looking over the rules and laws that he has agreed to navigate. He now knows the white and the black areas. What allowed and whats is not, but he also spots a few gray areas

Xiao Zifu looks at Lord Mardelik after his comment, then turns to the Legate. "Since I am new to your city, it would be wise to remain here under your guidance. I am honored by the arrangements, humble they may be."

Pointedly looking away from the finely-clothed man, she continues by asking, "May I have a room to myself? At least for the time being. Should more officers require lodging, I ask that my roommate be female. I'm sure you understand."
OOC:
Thanks for the clarification. Zifu will opt to remain at the fort for now, especially since she doesn't know how much it will cost to stay at one of the finer inns. Once she settles a means of possible income and knows her options, she might revisit her arrangements.

Following Docaster in, Greta calls loudly to the first serving person she sees "You dere! Bring us de drink dat costs de most! " Flashing a mischievous grin at Doc she bellies up to the bar. "Unt bring us some foods! " she orders enthusiastically.

Docanter sniggers at her command. Another day it may have irritated him....but he had to admit he was going to ask for the same thing anyway.

Cyngi sent a note to runekyndig
The door to the tavern squeaks open to reveal a sparse patronage of only around 10 people. The serving person as it were was a towering, furred Terrataur with a blackened metal septum ring. He wore serving clothes that fit him snugly, and an apron with a picture of a mule's face on it, in a trademark sad expression. He seemed to have been looking over toward one of the corners, where two hooded and mysterious patrons lay, but he looked over at the newcomers. Patrons in the bar looked toward the newcomers as well. A few conversations faltered, and a midday card game took a pause. The two patrons in the corner, however, didn't seem to care.

"Most expensive?" he asked in a slow bass, then smiled to reveal large, square teeth. "We have some Morvethi dark brandy," he grunted. "Rare. Two silver a glass."
The general nodded a few times. "I understand. We don't have a single room available, as plenty of people would also prefer to be alone. i will pair you with another female officer."

He looked over to Ian. "As for you, we'll get you sorted as well. I will need to discuss this with our housing staff, so your rooms may not be immediately ready. Leave any baggage you have here in the officers' barracks, though, and we will move everything in as we work. For right now, you have no obligations other than the meeting we hold at noon tomorrow."

Greta looks at the barkeep with a frown "Do you not understand me?" as she knocks the bar surface twice. "Pour de drink!"

She nods her head towards Docaster "He’s got money."

The bull man snorts, taking a fancy looking bottle from under the bar and setting two small glasses out. He pours both to the brim with dark blue liquid.

"Four silver," he grumbles, looking at Doc.
Sep 6, 2019 8:03 pm
Doc hands over the 4 silver, raised his small glass, says "Cheers" to Greta in Muldini and waits for her to do the same before drinking
Sep 6, 2019 8:28 pm
Greta raises her glass and locks eyes with Doc. As she nods her head in thanks, the barbarian from the Wildlands replies in Vatille "Skol." Then the large woman drinks it down in one go, and places her glass back on the bar.

She motions for another round and drops the 5 silver Ian gave her earlier onto the bar. "More!"

The taste was of blueberries and chocolate, but the burn was quite unlike anything normal. The proof was likely very, very high. The taur comparatively looked very, very happy. He scooted the silver into his palm and under the bar, and brought out the brandy. He served two more glasses. Patrons of the bar began watching with renewed interest in the people shoving silver at getting drunk. The mysterious patrons in the corner finally seemed to take notice.

WITH THE LEGATE
Zifu smiles and nods. "Thank you, Legate. I shall situate myself accordingly." She will prepare to stow her suitcase and, depending on the time of day, will consider paying a visit to the recommended trattoria.
Sep 6, 2019 8:55 pm
Offering a small bow to the Legate, Ian nods sharply. "Understood. I'll be there w'out fail." He flashes a winning smile at the Legate and a jaunty, casual salute. Hefting his bag he nods down towards Zifu's luggage, "Y'want any help w'those?"
Sep 6, 2019 8:59 pm
Zifu's smile does not fade. "No, I can manage it quite well. Thank you for the offer, Lord Mardelik."

I look at Johann. I’m bored. Want to go ‘ave some fun? My hand disappears.

Well Finn, I do think it high time that we learned what this plague is all about. Shall we go exploring?

CancerMan says:
Zifu's smile does not fade. "No, I can manage it quite well. Thank you for the offer, Lord Mardelik."
"Sure!" Ian calls back, brightly, his trickster's grin growing. "I'll letcha know if'n I need any help maself." As they head down to the officer's barracks he glances over at the reserved woman, "So, y'must've fucked up bad ta be assigned this distant post or -super- important ta be trusted ta represent yer people's interests. Which was it again?"
Sep 6, 2019 9:30 pm
OOC:
Finn & Johann, what are you looking to do out in the city? Let me know so I can see what to do as far as a roll.
Sep 6, 2019 10:47 pm
Zifu decidedly does not make eye contact with Ian as they walk. She replies, briefly stumbling over a particular word, "I did not, as you said, f-uc.... ahem. I did not make an egregious error or conduct myself in any particular manner to be here. My presence is voluntary. Is it wrong to want to help a neighbor, even if that neighbor is a country?"
Sep 7, 2019 12:00 am
"Ohhh, yer important then." He chuckles lightly, "Had'a feelin' y'weren' a fuck-up, but it's polite ta ask, Y'know? Can you -imagine- how awful it'd be ta be'a total fauilure at life but people kept assumin' you was amazin'? Sounds -exhaustin'-." When they reach the officer's station he sets his things down, "Well, I suppose this's where we part ways. I' can tell yer lookin' fer'a quiet, relaxin' eve in' an I am just the biggest asshole yer ever gonna meet!
