11th of Fen, 4E219
Birds began chirping in slow waves around the fort, with the dark of night slowly being dispelled by a hidden sun. A sharp horn rang out into the crisp morning air, signalling first light. This horn was loud enough to pierce into the barracks of the fort. Shortly after the horn sounded the third time, An officer burst into the main barracks, announcing breakfast at 0500, in 30 minutes, in the dining hall. He slapped at the posts of bunks with a cudgel at random, announcing his message with the gusto of somebody overjoyed in waking people up who would rather be asleep. After a solid two minutes of his announcement as he navigated the barracks the majority of the party was in, he left to torture another room.

"Fuck off," Ian grumbles before going rolling over. With his free hand he drags his long, red hair over his eyes, muttering something under his breath.

The soldier shrugged as he strapped his Lorica into place. "Your loss. Be at the noon meeting. It has to do with where your troops are being deployed."

Johan always greets the transition between day and night, but thanks to the first horn he is up greeting the transition between night and day.
He stops the guard as they paths cross.
You are an idiot! Did you have fun? Scare someone like me out of sleep like that, and there is a good chance I would have killed you by reflex. These... and with a hand wave, Johan indicates the sleeping people ...are competent problem solvers, with dangerous skill sets. Not presents for you to bully!

He returns to look at the rising sun. Now go away, before I inform your commander of his suicidal soldiers.

Zifu woke after the first horn. With eyes still closed, she spent ten minutes preparing an Unseen Servant to help begin her morning routine. She dressed herself with assistance, meticulously layering robes in practiced form. Her hair became plaited and affixed with her ornaments, and Zifu dexterously manipulated her enchanted cord for Prestidigitation to freshen up as she inspected herself in her mirror.

Leave her be, Hu, she mentally thought to her familiar as the owl hopped onto her shoulder before burrowing into her robe. It is not wise to wake a Weaver before their time. A Weaver will wake precisely when she means to.

Another eleven minutes of cord-weaving was spent as she cast Alarm upon her robes, then Zifu stepped out of her room with only her coin and her spellbook in possession. She proceeded to the courtyard and sought directions to the mess hall, marveling inwardly at how there didn't seem to be any room service.

Greta shouted curses in Drathian, Muldini, and Vatille at the soldier when he began his banging and shouting after the first horn.

The barbarian didn’t bother with her armor or shield, and left them, along with her javelins and bow on top of her rumpled blanket.
With a comb made of elk antler, Greta removes her braids and combs out the long blond hair. Greta squints to see any nits in the tines of the comb. Once satisfied that there aren’t any, Greta gathers her long tresses into a ponytail and rises from the bed.
With practiced ease, she straps on the baldric and hangs her sword in its scabbard before slipping her dagger onto her belt.

"I’m getting food." she grumbles to Docaster.
Greta, taking long strides, moves with the soldiers towards mess, making sure to push her way towards the front of rhe line.

Docanter joined Greta in a beatiful duet of foul language as the soldier woke up their barracks. He rises stiffly out of bed and replies to her with an affirmatie grunt, following close behind to ensure a spot in line towards the front

The officer that Johann was chewing out very studiously ignored him, yelling out his message and banging with his cudgel at random. It seems his words were having little to no effect on the man, who went on in waking the barracks up.

Finn managed to wake people up not with his voice, but with the magic he was employing. People still gave him sour looks, and a particularly nasty looking group seemed to be coalescing and following Finn with some purpose behind it. They looked grumpy, rudely awakened by something they didn't understand, and ready to hit something. As soon as the officer left the barracks, they converged on him, boxing him in between a sequence of bunks as the group was 6 strong.

The surliest looking, a man who was in nothing but wide-brimmed pants, was leaning on a long, thin hammer staff. He looked tired and hungover.

"Halfling, we're getting sick and tired of you bandying about the devil's arts. We don't know how you got here, but we'd like you to leave." He had a very thick accent, immediately discernible as that of Southrun. The other five of the group, most of which in pyjamas, were all nodding in appreciation of the statement.

One, who was wearing a nightcap and was leaning on a bedpost behind Finn continued. "And iffin you try anyfin, we's gonna beat the snot outta you. Nobody's gonna defend you." His accent was more sharp. Likely Morvethi.

Greta and Doc were both on the way out of the barracks, but could hear the commotion. Johann could also hear what was going on, though he was on the other side of the room near the exit.

I wouldn't be too hasty boys. Never know when someone like me might save your life one day. Besides, now that I think about it. Morning is a good time for some sleep. I wave my hands quickly as I say the word sleep.
OOC:
Casting sleep if I have a chance.

I enjoy a troublemaker as much as the next guy, but Finn is getting into "burn the witch" country

OOC:
Sometimes I can go a little far. If that is what I am doing, sorry.... I try to play to the characteristics I imagine for him and I can sometimes get carried away. Perhaps a good (non-lethal) beating will knock some sense into him.

Two of the meatheads - the one with the nightcap and one with an eyepatch wearing a sleeping robe - fell unconscious to the floor, with the former snoring almost comically loudly. The spell that Finn had cast had required a complicated motion of his hands, with strings of ethereal energy at his fingertips tracing very scary looking patterns. There was a heartbeat of quietened gasps.
OOC:

Then, with all the subtlety of a cannon blast, the shirtless man roared out an expletive, hefting his hammerstaff and preparing a blow, though not actually swinging. Another beefy mercenary, who sounded like he was babbling something in muldini of all things, angled in to tackle Finn to the ground, aided by yet two other bodies that sought to dogpile this tiny frame.
OOC:

Finn managed to hop up on top of the first man with ease. However, the man moved oddly, causing Finn to lose his footing, and he was subsequently beaten to the floor by sweaty, sleepy dude bodies. He was on top of one, so that broke his fall a bit, but they had a nasty habit of being punchy. They both aimed to knock him out while the one still standing was trying to poke at Finn with the butt of his hammerstaff. The man finn was on top of was trying to scramble out from beneath everybody.

The man below Finn scrambled away while the group began whaling on the still struggling halfling.

OOC:
After this 'combat' round, we'll give everybody else there the chance to step in if they'd like Anywho, the two grapplers are at advantage as Finn is effectively restrained, the third I will give disadvantage as he's trying to poke through the other two guys.

The large woman hearing the toughs engage with Finn, slows her quick pace to get to the front of the mess as she starts watching the scene. Not understanding how the diminutive rogue put down two of them without a swing she gapes, only to snarl "Fight!" once she sees the group piling on the halfling.

With a quickness born from a feral ferocity the barbarian closes the gap and bellows an unintelligible yawp as she swings a haymaker at the hammer wielding goon.
OOC:

The sounds of an altercation catch Doc's ear. He turns around in time to see a spell cast by the high-profile halfling from the day before, then two of six burly men slump unconscious onto the ground. His liberal use of the arcane is dangerous in Doc's eyes, but ignorance-turned-violent is even worse...and 4 against one is just not fair.

Hesitant to use his own abilities publicly, he charges at one of the thugs; hoping to take some heat off of this little one.
