"Locked," said Zifu. "Perhaps we move on?"
Sep 20, 2019 9:21 am
"No, just gimme some light." Moving forward, Ian reaches into his coat and takes out a leather satchel and unrolls it. A variety of tools are lined up in individual pouches. "I just need'a few seconds." Selecting a few, he starts to work, muttering quietly, "We need ta hit'the armory as soon as we can. I've a feelin' we're not well equipped 'nough ta handle anythin' we might run inta here."

"I agree." Doc says "We need to grab food, water, weapons, armor; anything we can and then leave this place as soon as possible."

Greta asks Ian "What’s so important in the Let gate’s room?" as he fiddles with the lock.
Sep 20, 2019 11:56 am
"Well," Ian says quietly as he works the tumblers and listens to the lock. "Aside from my documentation which is'the only thing what allows me ta prove my identity since my reputation does -not- precede me, we'll find'the travel papers fer that Imperius that was possessed as well as records on whether she's been out on any field excursions. If she has then it's likely she picked up that curse in'the wilderness, but if she hasn't then the curse has already found its way south. Which would mean that we'd need ta report ta the royal court -immediately- ta warn them or tens'a thousands could die."

Greta mentions to Docanter "Remember those two robe wearing strangers at Toyacheck’s place? That witch who turned into the plague bones, she was wearing the same clothes."

Someone wanna catch me up to what you guys were doing while I was falsely imprisoned? I look at Ian and then Zifu. And next time, let me pick the lock. Fingers is more than capable.

"Look, you've already had way more than I did ta go on, so I can' help you if you haven' figured it out on yer own yet." He keeps working on the tumblers before he asks, "Is you three gonna gimme a spell count or what?"

Greta answers Finn "After those weaklings beat you up, and were about to throw you from the window you know and we saved your sorry ass for the first time? We ate breakfast, and then we invessa..inves.. looked at the plague bones in the fountain. Then everyone started trying to leave to fort, but then we went down to the jail to ...

Greta scratches her head

"what was it again Ian? Oh yeah! It was to save your sorry ass again! You saw everything that happened. The Imp-ear was really a witch and Golden head, tried to chop you up."

If you recall, my dear. I took out two of the four weaklings, with one wave of my hand. I smile at Greta, teeth still bloody. And I had everything handled in the jail, until you guys came barging in. I was just biding my time.

"Woooow. Okay, the next witch or warlock we fight is all yours. No back-up." He snickers slightly, "I mean, y'could always head out on forward recon an clear the whole fortress for us. If'n y'hurry y'might get back b'fore I get this lock open."

With as long as it takes you to open a lock, I might.

Ian finally manages to get the lock open, and it unlocks with a satisfying thunk.

In the distance, a scream could be heard. A scream of pain, and terror. It sounded like it was coming from the fortress.

Zifu set her lamp down, draped her cord around two of her fingers, then wove a a shield-like string figure with her other hand to surround herself with protective force. She picked up the lamp and waited.

Greta opens the door and thrusts her torch in to illuminate the scene.

The light flooded the next room from the crackling, smoky torch. Revealing it to be...

An armory. Gladius, Javelins, and Axes hung on weapon racks lining the right wall, while suits of Lorica were directly ahead of Greta, on the other side of a long table. The table itself had odds and ends, such as whetstones, leather straps, or other tools that could be used alongside weapons. Anything above the obvious to try and find in this room would require a search, but it was bristling with weaponry.

As far as could be told, there were no bodies in this room.

Another door could be barely seen on the back wall, partially obscured by an extinguished hanging lamp.

Zifu stepped past the hidden halfling and into the armory. She held her lamp up and tried to squint past the moving shadows from the weapons, and proceeded to the table. She eyed the whetstones, then confiscated as many as she could into a bag.

Hu, she thought to her familiar, please keep an eye out in the hallway. I trust your vision in this dark.

The owl squirmed free of her robe, and with an indignant fluff and preen of his feathers, flew back out of the armory to perch on an unlit torch or hanging lantern.

I motion my hands. Come forth Fingers, do what you do. I send Fingers to grab me some daggers. While I look around for any thing that might have a lid or closed door, chests, desks, and the like.
