He moves his cloak to reveal the hunters crest. I don't do wolf's.... I do werewolfs

The soldier peered at it, before realization dawned. "Oh... Oh, you're a Hunter. There's a few of you around already. All afield I'm afraid, but thank you for coming regardless. We need all the help we can get." The soldier gave Johan a lazy salute, nodding at Zifu as she passed. "Go with the others, sir, and you'll be sorted into a unit."

Hunters, tribal warriors, spellcasters...this plague really is attracting all sorts of rare and powerful people he thought.
Interested in seeing the rest of them and what lies beyond the gate, Doc squeezes through the gate, closes his eyes and murmurs quietly to himself in a language wholly alien. His onyx gemstone shines dimly underneath his armor and he opens his eyes to survey the people and the land before him.
OOC:
I'm gonna cast guidance on myself and roll perception to see what's beyond the gate and what other kinds of sellswords are around that we'll be dealing with

"Leave the poor man be," Ian says with a quiet grunt of irritation. "He's got no control'a the situation." The dirt crunches under his boots as he steps up to the gate and waits for the stragglers. One hand goes to grip the underside of the gate as he turns to face the men and women still approaching, gesturing for them to catch up. He exerts no force on the gate but as the wind picks up, it tosses his wavy red hair around him, giving the impression that he's personally holding up the gate to allow others to pass through. It's staged perfectly to create a sense of drama, a hint of the epic and that's really the point.

Greta walks unhurriedly through the gate with a stiff posture and her chin thrust forward. As she reaches Ian, ‘holding’ the gate open, her otherwise stern countenance shifts to a wry smile. "So strong!" she remarks, passing into the citadel.
Sep 1, 2019 11:57 am
The young man gives Greta a wild grin back, full of good cheer and sly wit. Winking he remarks back, "Aye, I'll go ta any lengths ta hold'a door open fer'a lady." He nods to Xiao as well as she passes, his sly grin still on his face, "Well, hello there." It seems entirely plausible that this entire excursion of his was conceived of, planned and executed for the sole purpose of hitting on women. That seems plausible based on his expression.

Xiao Zifu seems to believe that Ian's comment is directed to someone else, as she continues forward through the gate without acknowledgment.

As the group entered the fort through the gate, they came upon a courtyard. The courtyard itself was rather unimpressive; it was a giant, unadorned square with several budding cedar trees strewn about. At the far end of the court yard was a set of staircases laid perpendicular to the entrance, leading up to an elevated landing. On the lower level, it was laden with bustling men and women chatting and boasting in rough lines toward two tables. At the ends of those tables, two very bored looking men in plain clothes of Drathis - with popped collars and wide sleeves - sat asking questions, then giving the mercenary they interrogated slips of paper and directing them from there, usually behind them toward the landing. The line was going rather quickly, but there was still a fair few sellswords remaining. A soldier near the entrance directed the group into one line or the other as they came in.

Greta looks at the lines and the tables with a glance over her shoulder at her erstwhile companions from the munimica and indicates with a nod of her head for them to follow her as she ignores the two lines and boldly walks to the right table.

"I am Greta Ingvarsdottir. These little ones ..." she indicates the party from the munimica, especially pointing Ian out with her javelin "... are with me."

Doc will follow suit, grooming his already messy hair with his gloved hands in an attempt to look at least somewhat presentable in front of his evaluators. He scowls a little at Gretta for her claim of ownership upon the group....but he also doesn't want to wait in these lines.

Zifu idly clutched her case as she waited in one of the two lines, unaware of Greta's inclusion.

As Xian ignored him entirely, Ian's expression only grew more pleased. "I do love bein' ignored . . ." he mutters quietly under his breath as he follows the others in, making sure nobody is left locked out. He's been locked outside more than enough times to give him a distaste of it. Like, four times.

In the courtyard, Ian takes a moment to examine everything with a critical eye, specifically the quality of the soldiers and the stone work of the keep, trying to figure out how difficult it would be to climb it without a rope. After a few seconds of examination he moves towards the table as well. Raising his hand, he again shows off the glint of gold on his hand, a signet ring that, by all accounts, pegged him as a member of a minor noble house on the far side of the Empire. "Legate Cassium, if'n y'would please."

The man at the line that was invaded, currently talking with a large, bald mercenary that had more scars than skin and no shirt on, stopped short as he looked over. He listened to Greta blankly, looking boredly at who she pointed out. Then, when Ian approached, with the signet ring clearly recognized, he straightened up. "Oh, y-yes, m'lord. Please go up the stairway behind me and take the far left portal. Go to the top of the posterior tower." He then glanced at Greta. "Is... she your bodyguard?" he guessed.

To the more socially respectable of the group, the line with the hold up was thankfully opposite the one of Xiao Zifu and Johan Silversmith. But the line Doc was sorted into ground to a halt.

Greta answers the functionary with a grim nod. "And the others too, those little ones (the halflings), the sad looking man (Doc), and the girl with the bird. (Xiao)" She points out the party members with her javelin and waves them over.

Was that IC? xD
The man looked at the characters as Greta pointed them out. He looked at Ian, raising his eyebrows as if to affirm she wasn't insane.

Doc looks relieved and takes the opportunity to join the towering woman.

He sighs, giving a helpless shrug, "I'm on a budget." He shakes his head, keeping his amusement bottled up on the inside. "A'course," the redhead's voice takes on a more serious tone, if they misbehave, I'll be sure ta handle it." He nods to Gretta with a commanding tone, perfectly pitched to inspire obedience. "Go'n get the others. Haul'em over if'n they give you issue."
