OOC:
3 questions:
What happened here recently?
What should I be on the lookout for?
What here is not what it appears to be?
Mimi gave Orengi a pet for helping her sniff out the clues.

"...Does anyone have any extra garments?" Feng has regained her composure now that the situation has been remedied. She doesn't seem too embarrassed with her current situation; if anything she only looks annoyed at destroying perfectly good clothes.

Mimi, there is nothing out of the ordinary here. By all accounts, the fire was started by a wayward spark from a cookfire. Your investigation does turn up something important: Orengi sniffs out a lost crabling trapped under some debris. The happy reunion with the crab-mother is well worth the delay.

Feng, the crab-folk (it turns out they are hermaphrodites) donate some of their ragged clothing. The threadbare garments are loose and smelly, but will preserve your modesty.

You head back upriver in the deepening gloam and find where the tributary joins the Tiger. Your guide refuses to go any further. Besides, the stream is too shallow for the boat. The crab-man motions they will wait for you here. You will have to trudge up the muddy stream.
OOC:
Mimi, roll Hunt and Track.

Mimi does her tracking of the beast again.

Rolls

Hunt and Track(wis +1, cunning +2) - (2d6+3)

(61) + 3 = 10

"Stay alert friends."
Oct 25, 2019 2:18 pm
The stream bed is criss-crossed with the beast's tracks. It's an indecipherable mess to anyone but Mimi and Orengi, to whom it's clear the creature last came through in the morning before the sun came up and baked the mud dry. Those newest tracks head inland. The beast hasn't left its lair, but it might be heading your way this very moment! What do you do?
Oct 26, 2019 2:57 am
"Guys, the beast is very closeby. It's either in its lair now, or moving about outside. Maybe it even might meet us at any moment. Do you guys have a plan?"

"Hunt it like any other monster. Set a trap or ambush and hit it from range. If it's as poisonous as we have seen, engaging it in close proximity could be very fatal." Kalam surveys the terrain. "Mimi, could you please select a spot for something like that. You have the better eye for the terrain." Kalam looks at everyone then. "If we need bait, I'll volunteer. It's my plan, and I won't put anyone else in harm's way for it."

Mimi will go and climb a tree to have a view of the surroundings.
OOC:
Do I have to make a roll for these?
Oct 27, 2019 12:51 am
"Spread ourselves out. It'll help if we are able to come at it from all sides. Maintain eye contact with each other if we can." Wu Meng began to make some space to encircle the lair, knowing that he moved the quickest amongst them and can swiftly come to anyone's aid should they need it.

What Mimi sees from the top of the tree sends chills up her spine. In the soft, wet earth next to a mud pool, the monster lies in a shallow burrow, in the middle of giving birth to a clutch of scorplings. Pale, soft, disgusting things, the squirming scorplings huddle as their sisters are born... four, now five. As Mimi looks on, the mother then begins to devour her young!

Mimi reports the sickening scene to her companions (do you climb down, or do you call out?). What do you all do?
Oct 27, 2019 7:24 am
Mimi climbs back down to report that not only did she find the beast, but that it is also giving birth to young which it later consumes. The canabalism of the beast clearly upsets her.

"Would any of you have the skill to try and chop off the stinger?"
Oct 27, 2019 4:56 pm
"I could burn it. Probably."
Oct 27, 2019 4:56 pm
Kalam, raises an eyebrow at Meng's suggestion. "That is a good suggestion, I may be able to deal with that. Remember our duel? Same thing may work here."

"Alright, then I'll go ahead and take the first surprise shot, then Feng or Kalam may handle the stinger."

Mimi goes to climb up the tree again and tries to place a headshot on the cruel beast.
OOC:
Let me know if I can shoot from that height, and if I can add in my cunning in my roll aswell. If so, I'll edit to say that Orengi will make a distracting attack of sorts. Ammo: 6 -> 5

Rolls

Called Shot targeting head(Dex +2) - (2d6+2)

(36) + 2 = 11

damage die - (1d8)

(2) = 2

OOC:
On a Volley roll of 10+ you do not reduce ammo. This is;'t Volley though, it's Called Shot. So it does something extra, but you still do not reduce ammo.
Mimi's arrow hits the creature right between the eyes. From this distance, and because of the creature's tough hide, the arrow doesn't seem to hurt it very much, but the shot is so perfectly placed, the monster seems stunned!

What do you do?

Wu Meng smiled at Kalam's reference to their duel years ago. "It would be opportune if your lightning could take the sting out of the scorpion. As you can see, I've also learnt to move quicker since then. Prepare. I shall lure it." Meng took a position in the direct path of the beast, so that the others could flank it when it charged. He picked up one of the small rocks nearby, and flicked it at the beast, charging it with his inner energy.
OOC:
Spending 1 ki to add 1d8 damage

The monster recoils as Wu Meng's rock thunks against its skull. Its deadly tail stinger swishes about menacingly. It retreats towards its burrow.
