"Check your light!" Jahred calls out as he grabs and readies his shortbow, moving in front of his fire to hopefully keep it from being snuffed out.

"Azak! Azak!" comes the shriek as a troup of goblins pour out from the tunnel, bows in hand and crude, hooked swords at their hips.

The one that seems to be in charge knocks an arrow and fires at Ranos as he cries out, "Ganish-aba, zgukoz!"
OOC:
Anyone notice that the RNG seems to hate this group? The initiative order is:

Monster: 22 (gone)
PC: 18
Monster: 17
PC: 14
PC: 13
Monster: 12
PC: 7
Monster: 4
Monster: 3
PC: 2

Given the nature of play-by-post gaming, I'm going to treat the PC slots as a first-come-first serve basis.

With a deafening crack of thunder, a veritable wave radiates out from the dragonborn, catching two of the approaching goblins.

One is sent flying back, letting out a keening cry as it falls and stills, while the other clutches at its head as blood seeps from its ears. Staggering to its feet, it glares out at the entire group before turning around and stumbling back to the tunnel.

"Ashka omzik! Kuzgath ishabaz!" it calls out as it reaches the tunnel and runs into the darkness.
OOC:
In case anyone is wondering, the goblins are using an incomplete language I put together loosely based off of Tolkien's Black Speech, and since only Wahuhi understands Goblin, I'm providing translations in the notes.

Next up is a PC slot.

OOC:
Can I see them to shoot them?
Oct 28, 2019 2:57 pm
"Destroy dah entire mountain? How..." Ranos rushes along in the wake of Wahuhi.
OOC:
I would like to get close enough with, hopefully, a single movement action to let loose with a Firebolt at a goblin but I'm not sure what the range or lighting looks like right now.

Manneo gets up and grabs his longaxe. Moving with the others he prepares to fight the goblins.

Hearing the warning of their comrade, swarms of goblins come pouring out of the tunnel, the majority armed as the initial few but a few wearing more ornate garb.

As the majority of the goblins launch arrows into the bundles of people around campfires, the ornately dressed goblin raises a staff topped with a roughly hewn white crystal and lets out a short chant, "Kuzgath Kizath, orzuzak gukat!"

With a rumbling K-KRAK, the entire cave shakes as cracks form in the walls, floor, and ceiling. Stalactites at the entrance fall to the ground, shattering and splintering while further in the floor splits, forming crevices that could turn an unwary step into a broken leg.
OOC:
The entire cave is now considered difficult terrain, requiring double movement and the majority of the goblins are considered to be within dim light, so everyone without darkvision has disadvantage on attacks against them. The one exception is the one that made the save against Faerlin's spell, which is brightly illuminated. PC next.

With a cackling cry, two of the goblin archers take aim at the most apparent threat: the dragonborn cleric.

The first arrow bounces off of her shield, while the second punches through chain to bury itself in to flesh, narrowly missing the heart. Seeing this, the other goblins give a rallying cry as they swarm over the guards. For their part, the guards hold their ground, as do several members of the caravan.

One bearing the snowflake and coin crest of the Frosthorne Knights on his shield lets out a bellow as he drives his sword through a goblin, while elsewhere a partially plucked kenku lets out a shriek as twin green blasts of energy fly from his beak.

OOC:
I am casting Sleep, primarily on the caster and then moving to the archers nearby the caster if there are HP left over.

I am very confused as to the layout of what is happening. Could we get a map, even a crude one?

OOC:
Rough map, as requested. Blue are PCs, Green are Goblins, Red are guards, Grey are members of the caravan, Black is the magic-blasting kenku, the Dark Blue-Green is the knight, Pale Tan is Dim Light, Yellow is Brightly Illuminated. Note that the map is not to scale.
Oct 30, 2019 1:35 am
As the goblin mage prepares to cast another spell, his chanting is interrupted by a yawn as he and three other goblins drop to the ground, snores emanating from them nearly louder than the thunder still rumbling outside.

Seeing that the battle, even with mystical aid, is turning against them, the remaining conscious goblins scurry back into the tunnel, abandoning the dead, dying, and sleeping where they are. Not looking a gift horse in the mouth, the guards swiftly take their blades and cut the throats of the still living goblins.
OOC:
The four goblins making a diamond shape are now taking an unscheduled nap, courtesy of Ranos. They're goblins, it's not like they have a lot of hp. As for the rest, when this much goes this wrong this quickly, it becomes apparent that one is in over their head. Everyone gets 300 XP.
Oct 30, 2019 1:52 am
"Wait wait wait! The caster gobbo mights know sumting, we should asks it questions!" Ranos is also going to go through the pockets of the caster. He is looking for a trinket to add to his collection along with anything of magical value such as scrolls or spell books.
OOC:
I would like to try to get in there and save the goblin for interrogation before the guards kill it, but I also realize it might be too late.

Thank you for the map, too, it was nice to see the bottle neck and how it was all working out.

With 300 XP that puts us at level 2, yes? 'Though we do need a long rest to actually level.
Oct 30, 2019 5:16 pm
Glancing over Ranos, the knight looks like he is suppressing the urge to say something before moving over to Faerlin. Carefully moving her onto her back, he gripped the arrow where it met her scales.

"I'm sorry for this, but I cannot treat the injury with the arrow within it," with that, he pulled the arrow from out.

A soft blue glow emanates from his free hand, suffusing into the wound, muscle fibers knitting together. With a gasp, Faerlin regains consciousness.
OOC:
Faerlin heals 5 hp. And yes, you guys are now level 2.
Oct 30, 2019 5:50 pm
OOC:
Faerlin says I could have used that level early Ack. You think there is something wrong here!
Faerlin gasps as she come back to life. She can't help but notice the arrow is messing and the pain with it. She is also surprised to she her healer must be knight. She sputters out as her first words again aren't easily pieced together. My thanks. The all seeing eyes bless you. She does that in the best she do and not offend the man that just healed her.
