Adventure 1 - Delving into Godsskull

The goblin's cheer at seeing it hit an elf was short lived, as the returning shot pierced its right eye, burrowing through the socket into the brain. Collapsing like a puppet with its string cut, the force of the arrow drove the goblin to land with a loud CRACK as the back of its skull split upon on the point of a small stalagmite.

The remaining goblin, seeing its fortunes change so quickly, ran across the cavern to a group of barrels, smashing one open with its short sword and dove face first into whatever liquid did not spill out onto the floor. After a moment, the goblin brings its head back out with a gasp as it falls to its back before its eyes nearly fall out of its head and its mouth opens in a silent scream.

Bones pop, flesh rips, teeth fall out and regrow, muscles bubble and writhe, as the goblin turns over, coughing out the teeth that fell into its throat. Its formerly yellow-brown skin turns green and coarse, and as it stands upright what initially appear to be organs soon reveal to be some sort of fruit or vegetable.

Is the bug 30' - 40' feet from me?
Nov 22, 2019 2:45 pm
OOC:
~40', but still in the middle of the Grease spell.
Nov 22, 2019 2:50 pm
I notch another arrow and loose it at the bug.
OOC:
Is this considered a beast? Because if so, add +2 damage because it is my favored enemy.

Rolls

attack - (1d20+4)

(10) + 4 = 14

damage - (1d8+2)

(2) + 2 = 4

OOC:
I am quite confused, have we moved onto round two? I am assuming we have but I didn't see a solution to my last firebolt. Did I wiff it or was it resisted?

Jahred steps out of hiding and takes aim, pausing only a brief instant to stare in disgust at the mutant goblin "What in the hells?" He mutters to himself before letting loose an arrow at the thing and stepping out of sight once more.

Rolls

Shortbow - (1d20+4)

(12) + 4 = 16

Possible advantage - (1d20+4)

(19) + 4 = 23

Damage - (1d6+2)

(2) + 2 = 4

Sneak attack - (1d6)

(1) = 1

Cunning Action: Stealth - (1d20+4)

Raddue says:
OOC:
I am quite confused, have we moved onto round two? I am assuming we have but I didn't see a solution to my last firebolt. Did I wiff it or was it resisted?
OOC:
I owe you a serious apology, I read it when it first came up, but when I went back to fill in the next post I somehow missed it. The firebolt missed, and we are at the tail end of round 1. Unless I am mistaken (which given the first part of this post is a possibility) Faerlin's all that's left of round 1, then it cycles back to an NPC slot.

The bug is not a beast, so no bonus favored enemy damage, but the arrow still hits.

DMDoom: you did have advantage, as in the excitement the goblins were relying on passive Perception. The mutant goblin is still standing. I'm thinking that with each post I do in combat I should include an updating map of the fight, as such here's the current map below:

OOC:
It's okay, I'm not mad or anything; I just want to make sure everything is proceeding properly. :D
Ranos winds up with another Firebolt, aiming at the last non-mutated goblin. He ponders outloud, "what kind of monstrosity..."

Rolls

Firebolt attack - (1d20+5)

(8) + 5 = 13

Firebolt damage - (1d10)

(1) = 1

Arcana against the mutated goblin, see if I'd heard of anything that would cause this kind of effect - (1d20+5)

(5) + 5 = 10

Faerlin calls up her god to heal her as she rushes the bug to kill it.
OOC:

Attack and bonus action the heal for 4hp.

Rolls

attack,damage, healing - (1d20+1, 1d8, 1d4)

1d20+1 : (13) + 1 = 14

1d8 : (6) = 6

1d4 : (2) = 2

The small orb of fire connects with the terrified, screaming goblin, rather unexpectedly entering the creature's open maw. The goblin's eyes widen and its mouth closes in shock, before dropping to the ground, clutching at its neck as it gasps and wheezes.

Meanwhile, the bug lets out a screeching hiss as Faerlin rushes in, warhammer smashing into one of its legs. Hiss/wailing in pain, it lashes out in retaliation, mandibles open wide. Closing around Faerlin, it picks the dragonborn up and begins to shake its head back and forth, drops of acid from its earlier attack sinking into armor and scales.
OOC:
So that's a whopping 10 points of damage, 3 of which is acid, and Faerlin is now grappled.

Arcana: Except for the liquid form, it looks like the sort of thing that green hag covens would do to create mindless arrow fodder to protect their interests.

Bug Bite - (1d20+5)

(11) + 5 = 16

Nov 23, 2019 5:01 pm
Meneloss drops his bow and rushing in, draws his slender rapier.

Darting in, he tries to slip the blade into a joint of the beetle’s chitinous armor.

Rolls

Rapier - (1D20+5)

(2) + 5 = 7

Piercing Damage if hit - (1D8+5)

(1) + 5 = 6

Divine smite! (If hit) Radiant damage - (2d8)

(71) = 8

Nov 25, 2019 3:46 pm
With a smooth little pirouette and a small hop, Ranos unleashes another firebolt, this time aimed at the greasy bug. "I's heard of dis transform goo before but wit hags, nots wit gobbos."

Rolls

Firebolt attack - (1d20+5)

(19) + 5 = 24

Firebolt damage - (1d10)

(6) = 6

Nov 26, 2019 2:28 am
With a lunging thrust, Meneloss struck at the flailing limbs of the bug, the point of the rapier scraping off of chitin. At the same time, the mutated goblin raised its arms and lunged at the elven knight. As it reached him, a small ball of fire impacted the side of the monstrous bug. As it hissed in agony, the mutated goblin's strange claws bit into the armor of Meneloss.

1d8 : (4) = 4

Nov 26, 2019 4:54 pm
Feeling the sting of the mutant goblin's claws, Meneloss tries to keep concentration on his prayer to Corellon for protection.

The pain and the new threat interrupted the paladin's silent orisons, disrupting the protective aura of his shield of faith

Rolls

concentration (con DC 10) - (1d20+1)

(3) + 1 = 4

Nov 26, 2019 11:20 pm
Third verse, same as the first, Jahred thought to himself as he maneuvered into a better position to fire at the mutated goblin. He wanted to flank the thing if possible before letting his arrow fly. After, he'd try and duck out of sight if possible, given the thing was distracted by Meneloss.
OOC:
Given my shoddy stealth role, I'm pretty sure I don't get advantage/sneak attack :-P Trying to flank so I'm in their blindspot and can hopefully stealth out of sight.

Rolls

Shortbow - (1d20+4)

(13) + 4 = 17

Damage - (1d6+2)

(4) + 2 = 6

Cunning action: Stealth - (1d20+4)

(15) + 4 = 19

Trapped in the oversized mandibles of the bug, Faerlin frantically tries to smash her way free, but finds herself unable to find a decent angle as it all but tosses her back and forth.

Meanwhile, Jahred slips into the cave and launches an arrow into the skull of the mutated goblin before slipping into the shadows. The goblin goes cross-eyed as it looks at the arrow head sticking out of its forehead, yet whatever foul concoction it drank keeps it upright.

Scorched, burned, and on its last legs, the bug attempts to keep its footing as it tries shaking its head, hoping to rip the dragonborn in half before moving on to the rest of the group attacking it.
OOC:
Map unchanged; because of the grapple, it has advantage on its attack roll. And unless Raddue decides to use the portend on the better roll, that's another 10 total damage.

Rolls

Attack, Adv - (1d20+5)

(4) + 5 = 9

Attack, Adv - (1d20+5)
