"We must keep moving towards the objective or find a defensible position."
The Salamander did not seem perturbed and was merely stating the facts as he moved to assist Stein.

Elyas takes aim at the nearest creature not engaged in melee with his battle brothers, taking a shot as he speaks "Agreed, these creatures can easily overwhelm. Either we make this quick or we dig in. The former is the one I advise."

Rolls

Damage (Tearing) 1d10+9 PEN 4 - (1d10+9)

(3) + 9 = 12

SAB BS+10 (57) - (1d100)

(45) = 45

OOC:
Both creatures are considered in melee since they attacked he nobody disengaged, thus giving a -20 to the BS test.

They are also very close so you get Point Blank range (within 3 meters) for one and close range for the other, giving +30 and +10 to BS test respectively.

This makes your BS at 67 for the test, with 45 making a success with 2 degree of success allowing 2 bolters hits.
As the xenos stepped away from Ar'Mat's sword, it received Elyas's fire straight in the chest without being able to react. The first bolt stagger it while the second litteraly explode it from the inside sending flesh and gore in all direction, reaching all those in melee.
OOC:
Character in melee must succeed a Ag check or suffer a -10 BS and WS for 1 round as they clear the blood for their eyes or visor.

OOC:
AG check...
Stein turns his head fast enough to avoid the blood splatters...

With every confidence that the last of the Horomogaunts would be dispatched, Petrix took a step forwards to examine the cavern, looking for any hidden points of ingress or egress. As far as tunnels went, almost any point was as good as any other, as long as there was no way to route behind them.
OOC:
Can I get a little more detail on the lay of the land?

OOC:
There is actually 1 last Hormagaunt left of Stein, but he is well surrounded and not much of a threat
The caverns is roughly 20 meters in diameter. The ceiling is 10-12 meters from the floor. There is only 2 entrances, the one you came in and the one leading deeper from which the Tyranids will come. Both entrances curve after a few meters thus not allowing much line of sight from the tunnel to the cave and vice versa.

While there as been a few smaller tunnels you passed as you went down, it would be either impossible or very long for the Tyranids below to go all the way around behind you. This cavern is actually the best position you saw to apply concentrated firepower on your enemy.

OOC:
Lets skip an irrelvant combat turn, poor Hormagaunt is doomed.

You have 2 combat rounds to prepare, get in position, etc. Dont forget options like delay action, overwatch and grenades. So just describe how you spent those rounds and the real fight will begin.
You easily dispatch the the last xenos and you have a few seconds to prepare before Tyranids start pouring from their tunnel.

Once the last Hormagaunt is dispatched, Stein unjams his weapon...

OOC:
I'm back from Vaca! I'm glad you all could mop the place up. o.-
Kenshen moved forward, hazarding to split his attention from the remaining Xenos to scan the room for the entry points. The first room was the doorbell. The rest would be a gauntlet and fire and fury. His smile grows wider. First blood belonged to him, and there would be many more opportunities to show off his special lady and all her talents. So warm in his hand, they had a vibe together, and language all their own. She was ready to knock them dead. 244 left... The lights indicate she is still overjoyed.

"Commander... I feel this position is best to stem the approaching tide." Defensive tactics were Ken's specialty as well, and seeking cover from which to gain the best vantage and upon which to cut swathes through the soon to be approaching masses, with the tunnels behind them to retreat and block off in the case that the Tyranid wave becomes too great for their rate of fire. "We will funnel them into our holy wrath."

Elyas tried to find a place to take cover, hopefully slightly elevated with good firing lines. He has no idea how many are coming but hopes that their devastator will be able to suppress or kill a lot of them
Jan 2, 2020 10:49 pm
@Elyas The only real cover you can find is around the bend of the tunnel behind you. There is no sufficient elevation to have any negative or positive effects.
Jan 3, 2020 12:28 am
"We hold here." Petrix nodded, and pointed to the far side of the cavern. "Watch that tunnel, Be free with your bolts. Remember your grenades if there are too many. Brace yourselves, Brothers."

His head inclined towards Stein. "Can you get any reading on their numbers?"
OOC:
Petrix will use an action to enter Squad Mode, and another to Stow his combat knife. If necessary, he will use Tactical Spacing to give his Reactions to the front-line Marines if they come under attack.

You braced yourself or got in sinc with your squadmate, the auspex failed to give you more information for the moment and a horde of shrieking flying xenos that you recognize as Gargoyles start flowing through their tunnel and filling the space above the cave.

May the Emperor bless your aim and may hatred fortify your hearts.

Your turn to act.
OOC:
The horde is magnitude 20 and used the run action this turn. You get +20 size bonus to hit the horde, a +20 to hit in melee (if you reach them of course) and -20 with BS because of run action. Firing will most probably be in close range (between 3m and half range of weapon) for another +10.
Jan 4, 2020 2:01 pm
As soon as he sees the enemy, Elyas opens fire, sure that any shots fired would end up hitting.

Rolls

Bolter - Burst Fire (47 + 10) - (1d100)

(43) = 43

Jan 4, 2020 2:41 pm
Cloten brings his heavy flamer to bear, firing up at the flying horde. "This is why I brought you, your magnificence. Bring them the cleansing Holy fire."
OOC:
No attack roll. Talent means I'm treated as braced. 30m range, cone. All in area make Agility test to avoid damage, and then Agility test to avoid catching on fire.

Rolls

Damage - (2d10+6)

(83) + 6 = 17

Jan 4, 2020 3:20 pm
Elyas let loose his bolter for good effect.
OOC:
Final modifier is +20 on the fast flying horde, causing 2 hits with the roll of 43/67. The 2 hits +the explosive (X) of the ammo cause 3 magnitude damage to the horde, bringing it from 20 to 17.
Jan 4, 2020 3:31 pm
For a moment, the promethium flames fill out the whole of the cave before you and a rain a Gargoyle start falling down.
OOC:
As the Horde is made of many individuals, they do not roll Ag. It is assumed some succeed and some fail. The Magnitude damage is counted as range/4 (rounded up) +1d5

Edit: 12 magnitude damage, the horde is now down to Magnitude 5

Rolls

Heavy flamer Magnitude damage d5+8 - (1d5+8)

(4) + 8 = 12
