Hope I won't need my last fate point...
...using that last fate point...
Stein, not seeing the approching missiles, fails to dodge them and his hit directly. Stunned, he falls on the ground barely holding on to his life....
OOC:
Wounds: -1/23
Fate: 0/3...
OOC:
Actually, there is no penalty per say to have lost all your wounds. Damage you receive over your wounds is divided by 2 (rounded up) and become critical damage, which stack into increasingly nasty effect until death at 8 or more depending on damage type and location.

Stein has 1 critical damage from Rending damage into the body. Effect is :"If the target is not wearing armor on this location, he takes a level of fatigue from a painful laceration. If he is wearing armor, there is no effect. Phew!"
Bring out those demeanours to transform some fate points into wounds!
OOC:
@Ar'Mat Your run action can bring you up to the creature's position (but not engaged is melee) and you can stop at cover 5m, 10m or 15m from hit. Running will also give -20 to BS roll against you until your next turn.
OOC:
@Cloten You enter the grapple and are limited in your action to : Break free with an opposed Str , Slip free with a Contortionist skill check or Take control of the grapple with an opposed Str check. If you get out of the grapple, you can use an half action.

OOC:
Ar'Mat will go to 5m of the creature. How far would that bring me from the tentacle spire?

OOC:
How does a strength check work? I've got S 44, but with my Astartesness and armor, the bonus goes from 4 to 10.

Rolls

S 44 - (1d100)

(56) = 56

Feb 1, 2020 4:16 pm
OOC:
Bonus does not affect the value you check against. That remains 44. During Opposed Characteristic Tests, on a success, the bonus multiplier is added to the degree of success thanks to your Unnatural Strength. See page 136. The bonus from your armor does not make a difference in an opposed test however.
Feb 1, 2020 9:54 pm
OOC:
@Cloten Like Khulod said, the SB itself is not factored in opposed test.

You do however use the +20 str from the armor making your TN 64.

If you succeed to check, you had the multiplier from Unnatural Strength as bonus DOS.

So, you count have having 2 DOS in your opposed test, if the creature failed to reach it TN or if it succeed with less DOS than you, you will win.

Edit : Indeed, the vines failed the test, Cloten breaks free and can use a half action for the rest of its turn.

Rolls

Vines opposed STR - (1d100)

(82) = 82

Feb 1, 2020 10:07 pm
Cloten feels the vines grab around his legs, but the powered armor helps him break free. Not moving, he turns the heavy flamer on them, burning them away with a quick burst.

Rolls

Heavy flamer damage - (1d5+8)

(3) + 8 = 11

Feb 3, 2020 9:50 pm
Ar'Mat and Petrix explode into a run, crossing the gore-filled battlefield up to the nearest cover of the creature.
OOC:
Ar'Mat is 5m from the creature and 15m from the walls of the Tyranid tower, while Petrix is 5m behind him
Kenshen stand his ground and fire at the cannon wielding xenos. The volley hit true but seem to cause minimal damage to the creature. Creature receive 6 wounds

Elyas struggle in vain to escape the clutch of the vines.

Cloten clears up a section of the vines with the flamer.

Stein, startled by the sudden pain of the almost 2m spike that ripped through his armor, decide to trust in his team and jump back to free Elyas from the grapple.
OOC:
Stein is back at the starting position and Elyas is free from the grapple. Elyas offer to patch Stein's wound, but that would take both Stein's and Elyas full action in a round

More missiles are fired from the xenos and from the other side of the tower. Two head toward Kenshen in retaliation, two more toward Khulod in an attempt to stop your advance. All missed there mark this time.

Much of the immediate vines have been repelled by repeated flamer burst, some are still in the back trying to catch Elyas and Stein there
OOC:
Both Elyas and Stein need to dodge or parry the grapple. Elyas succeed.
It is your turn to act!

Rolls

The Tyranid bastards never went down easy. If they are small or fragile, they are numerous, and the larger ones just got worse and worse in their resilience to the small arms of the kill team. Keeping track of what was happening, Kenshen hoped for the best of his battle-brothers. There was only one job for the Heavy.
OOC:
Sorry for the delay, and yeah, my job is "keep firing asshole"

Stein to dodge the vines? Or Cloten?

Pretty sure its a typo and I'm the one who has to dodge...
Stein answers Elyas's offer of help with a deep growl, You'll get to patch me up when those filthy xenos are all dead or I am !! Now stay behind and keep killing them !!

Stein turns back to late and gets grabbed by the vine but instead of trying to break free of its grasp, he simply starts hacking at it...
OOC:
If it's first attack kills it, it second will be against the vine going for Elyas.
... the dices seems against me this day...

Yea, it's Stein. Cloten cleared enough space not to be grapple this turn.
Feb 5, 2020 3:13 am
Elyas take out his combat knife and cut the vines grabbing Stein. Together, they hack and slash the encroaching vines to gain some breathing room.
Feb 5, 2020 4:08 am
What's remaining? There is the big xenos with a cannon, something at or behind the tower firing missiles, and the vines?

Qralloq says:

OOC:
Exactly. The missiles from the creature and those that come from the other side of the tower are the same, so you are guessing it is a similar creature that somehow direct the missile without a line of sight. (You could potentially have more info with a successful Forbidden lore Xenos check).

The vines are part of the tower and you can consider them more of an environmental hazard than creature to kill. Each action directed against them delays their grapple attempts and with enough actions they will eventually stop coming altogether.

Cloten stows the heavy flamer and jumps to the next stalactite closer to the xenos he can see.

OOC:
Heavy weapon are too big to be stowed, but they can carried with one hand (by a Space Marines at least) in a fight.

Cloten last position was S12, so he is 28m away from the xenos so, if your intention is to enter melee combat, you are already in jump pack boosted charge range (15X2 : 30m).
Feb 5, 2020 5:21 am
In that case, he Quick Draw readies the chainsword, hanging on to the precious flamer in one hand, and Berserk Charges the big warrior.
OOC:
Wings of Angels add 1d5 damage, 4 pen
SB bonus to damage +10
Activate Blood Angel Frenzy
Righteous Fury activated

Total damage: 47

OOC:
@Cloten You'll need to roll a pilot(personal) check for the Wings of Angels ability, failure remove the extra 20m and d5 dmg but does not void the attack.

Don't forget that the chainsword tearing quality allow to rule twice for dmg and take the best. Melee attack also add your SB to the dmg.

Some solo ability can also be use in this situation. Like the Blood Angel Blood frenzy for extra dmg reroll and higher chance of righteous fury or Codex Feat of strength to increase your unnatural strength to X3 for Rank in round.
