Gabrien snarls, steps away from Ash and fires his bow, looking for a soft spot.
OOC:
Spending Effort for damage

Rolls

The creature sees the tendrils, and deftly flips its body and speeds around to avoid being touched. The shadowy magics fail to connect.

Gabrien also let loose an arrow intent on hurting it, but the creature also dodges it.

It now moves in closer to you two in immediate range. It slowly circles you, hovering at head level. A menacing hum emits from it.
OOC:
It's now your turns again.
Feb 2, 2020 11:03 am
"Head down!" Ash barks seeing the possible same killing tactic and he rolls away attempting the same thing again.
OOC:
update 4 damage, if it's not from this revision wtf moment like a flash bang for round. I'll take +2 damage from the 18. =)

Gabrien continues to separate from Ash, moving forward a tree. He pulls and releases another arrow, giving it as much power as he can.

"What's it doing?"
OOC:
For the Major Effect, I would also like the extra damage. Total, 4+3+4=11 damage.

Ash shoots another haze of magical darkness at the hovering creature. It not only hits, but it seems to be cause some significant damage. Sparks suddenly fly all around the creature, before it drops to the ground while making loud humming noises.

Gabrien fires an incredibly well aimed arrow at the fallen enemy, which causes it to create a small explosion.

The flaming creature is struggling to get up. It hums louder as it slowly lifts from the ground.
OOC:
That was very good rolls! Just to let you know, this enemy has 1 armour, and so it has taken 15 damage so far. It is now your turns.
Feb 3, 2020 12:10 pm
"Trying to take our heads too... while it's distracted lets put it down." Ash states concentrating from his new position.
OOC:
If it hits 4 +1 from the roll

(17) = 17

The attack from Ash is enough to take it down for good as magic enters the cracks of the creature. However, the creature suddenly explodes in a ball of flame and shrapnel...
OOC:
Roll speed defense for Ash as he is in immediate range.
Feb 3, 2020 1:00 pm
Ash swears and attempts to dive out of the blast zone.

Rolls

Speed Defense - (1d20)

(18) = 18

Ash leaps away quickly as pieces of metal rains everywhere. As he get up unharmed, the two men looks at the smoking wreckage. Whatever that was, you can definitely tell it is unlike any monster you have seen, if it is one.
OOC:
Let me know when you guys are ready to move on.
Feb 3, 2020 2:32 pm
"Monster soul in bag?" Gabrien whines, then spits on the mechanical corpse.
Feb 3, 2020 3:04 pm
"Yep, check for any modular wire... assassin techniques might come in handy... I'll... take care of the body." Ash states before going to deal with their comrade's remains and taking back his personal effects.
OOC:
I don't think we need his stuff but his next of kin might like them, I'll mark the shallow grave.
Feb 4, 2020 12:41 pm
OOC:
You wouldn't know about robots or computers as the current recursion is medieval fantasy like.
With placing a couple of the creature's pieces in the magic bag, collecting Kefeli's belongings and marking a grave, you two continue on in a sombre mood for your fallen comrade.

You eventually reach the red forest's edge without another incident. Ahead of you, you see a rundown town sitting in a valley in drylands.
RoAries sent a note to RoAries
What plans and preparations would you make? Or do you wish to get a closer look?

Gabrien takes a 10 minute break in there to recover from the fights.

Rolls

Recovery,10 minutes - (1d6+1)

(6) + 1 = 7

Feb 4, 2020 1:32 pm
At the edge of the town, they observe for a moment, trying to see out they can detect any movement, or signs of inhabiting, before investigating.

"Did you recall if there would be a town hereabouts?"

Rolls

Trained in Perception Actions - (1d20)

(6) = 6

Feb 4, 2020 2:11 pm
"I thought this was where the cache would have been stashed. Plus the fire people we should talk to first... How about I go out first and make contact, I don't have any next of kin so if they kill me not that much of a lose besides man power for the village." Ash suggests looking around.
Feb 5, 2020 1:47 am
From Gabrien's position, seeing the town is a little hard, but he do pick up some movement. There is something like fire flickering about, even though its in the middle of the day.
Feb 5, 2020 12:31 pm
If Gabrien doesn't disagree Ash starts walking out in the open towards the flickering fire.
Feb 5, 2020 1:11 pm
"You're right, no time like the present. " Gabrien escorts his friend to the nearly abandoned town.
Feb 5, 2020 2:32 pm
You approach the town without attempting to sneak. As you pass by the scattered dried up trees and bushes, the view of the town gets more clearer. As you look pass the burnt down gate, you do see the fire monsters that you were told about. They look like people being perpetually on fire, and they merely wander about the dusty street not noticing you yet.
Feb 5, 2020 3:06 pm
Gabrien pulls Ash to the side, out of sight. "We need to talk about your name. There wasn't an old crone present at your birth who prophecized your death by fire so your parents, being of course the type who disbelieve prophecy named you Ash as a joke, was there?"
