Marv puts his hand in with the group.

"I think step one is looking into Victor and paying him a visit. Might be better if we show up just us, maintain the element of surprise a bit." Marv glances to the Pantones' vibrant hair as he speaks. "You hold the fort down while we lay a trail if he's got goons enough to go around, and when we've got him, put the screws to him and find out who's callin' the shots! Who's quick with social media that we could learn a little about ol' Victor?"
OOC:
Go team Venture!
Mar 4, 2020 6:27 pm
Remnant says:
"Isn't that a good way to get arrested possibly?" Max warns.
"Oh. Well you're the expert, so maybe not." Red grins sheepishly.
Mar 5, 2020 2:28 pm
"I'm tired of sitting still while they do who knows what to Fatima," Tasha growls. But then she sighs. "But OK. We'll stay here—for now. So how do you plan to find this Petrovich?"
Mar 5, 2020 3:53 pm
"Max, you got some connections that can do some digging on the down low? We don't know who we can trust, so we can hit the streets to track him down if not. I'm not great with computers, but if you or Red can find him on the Net, that would help too."
Mar 5, 2020 4:40 pm
"Well there's also warehouse watching but I put out my feelers to listen there's also I guess Ms. Loretta if we want to go full alert since if we ask her a question she's going to ask if there's a story there. That'll kind of tip our hand if she goes for a shock interview."
Mar 5, 2020 6:03 pm
"You bring the cops or the press into this, you leave our names out of it. Deal?" Tasha seems concerned as talk has turned toward publicity.
Mar 6, 2020 2:53 pm
OOC:
Bump. What's the plan?

Also, everyone can make another strain recovery roll, as you've had a moment to catch your breath. Cool or Discipline.
Mar 6, 2020 3:08 pm
"Understood but Law Enforcement at least is already involved."
Mar 6, 2020 4:12 pm
"What Tash means is that we don't exactly pay rent to squat here, if you know what I'm saying. But without this abandoned theater, must of us'd be on the street."
Mar 6, 2020 5:10 pm
"I can understand that... but even people who grew up homeless on the street can accomplish things." Max states his face softening a bit a little out of shame and a little out of understanding.

Hittin the Town Tunes

The Pantones share what painkillers they can spare, as Tasha apologizes once more for the brawl. "We had to know it wasn't you," she says again. You can tell that the flamboyantly coifed vigilantes are eager for revenge on whomever is behind Fatima's kidnapping, but they agree to stay back at the drive-in theater for now. You remember the theater for later, as its bottlenecked entrance and exit may make it a good place to stage an ambush.

Taking the Buick back to the gym, Red and Max go inside to do some digging on the masked group behind the kidnappings.
OOC:
Assume the Pantones can share 1 painkiller per PC. If you're not down any HP (or only a few), feel free to share with your fellows. I know Red is pretty beat up.
[ +- ] Pillsville
Hank and Marv take the car out to Pillsville to dig up any information they can find on illicit activity in the warehouses in the area. The drive takes about thirty minutes. The area is certainly depressing: Still highly polluted from its height, but now mostly empty buildings. Finding the warehouse Lance mentioned might be like finding a proverbial needle in a proverbial haystack.

You eventually stumble across a warehouse that seems to have some activity—perhaps one of the few remaining that are still in operation. Driving around back, you find some off-duty workers having a smoke and shooting the proverbial shit.
OOC:
Streetwise to ask about the warehouse is going to be Hard upgraded (RP) via SP with a boost for Marv's assistance. If you play up on your blue-collar roots, that's worth another boost. Setback for the fact that this is presumably a respectable business you're asking at.
Mar 9, 2020 6:55 pm
"Hi ho friend-os!" Marv climbs out of ol' Bessie and stretches after the ride. "Any chance you fellas know where a couple of strong backs can get a gig out here? I heard there's been some wicked happenin's and my bud Clank here said warehouse work is good, honest business for a thick head like me. I thought maybe with all the rumors they're payin' a premium!" Marv winces internally at his terrible pseudonym for Hank, Ol' thinker's still not back up to speed. He thinks as he laughs and steps forward. He produces a pack of smokes from his pocket, pulling one from the cardboard with his teeth and holding the pack out to offer a stick to the workers before lighting his own. "Only thing is, is the premium worth it, namsayin'? You guys heard anything bout shady business out here that's putting workers in danger or can me and Clank save ourselves the health insurance premiums? Anything to keep an extra buck outta daddy Warbuck's pocket, am I right?"
OOC:
My painkillers to Hank or Red as well as they need them, "They work good if you chew 'em!"

Rolls

Streetwise (drop the second boost if I can't steal Hank's blue collar boost)

3 Success, 4 Advantage, 1 Triumph, 2 Threat

Total: 3 Success, 2 Advantage, 1 Triumph

Mar 9, 2020 8:08 pm
Max gives Red his painkillers and sighes, "Well lets see what we can find out, especially with the news saying no was arrested last night. They didn't all die..."
Mar 10, 2020 1:01 am
OOC:
Red's also welcome to Hank's painkillers if she needs them.

Bringing some blue-collar roots to the table, but I think we also missed a setback.
Hank sidles up beside Marv and gives a nod to the workers. "Hell, it's gotta be better than our last gig. Need health insurance one way or the other, I figure. Whether it's a shady deal that needs protection or breakin' my back so the boss can line his wallet." He pulls a cigarette from Marv's pack and lights it. Gesturing at one of the workers stretching his shoulder, he says, "This guy gets it. We pull the muscles while they're pulling six figures."

He spits off to the side. "Same old song and dance, I guess. Nothin' new. Name's Dave, but most folks call me Clank. This here's Sam."

Rolls

"Respectable Business"

1 Failure

Total: 1 Failure

Mar 10, 2020 1:24 am
OOC:
I'll get an update up tomorrow morning. Remnant, you want to head to the precinct and look the plates up yourself? Or call your guy and ask him to do it?
Mar 10, 2020 1:15 pm
OOC:
Yeah I can go in and run it through NCIC. Also maybe I can follow up on who's the detective assigned to the case or if there is a case.

Max and Red get dropped off at Drummond's main police station while Marv and Hank check out the warehouse district. Red sticks out like a sore thumb among the hustle and bustle of uniformed officers and handcuffed prisoners undergoing intake, but she follows behind Max, who seems to know the lay of the land. When they reach an open area near Max's desk, a police detective stops the pair.

"Looky here! The hero of the One-Two Gym! And one of his buddies, too!" Max recognizes the officer: He's a newly minted police detective. Only a few years older than Max, he never misses the chance to emphasize the greenhorn's inexperience. Sure enough: "Pretty good for a rook!" The guy starts a slow clap. Who does that? Other officers in the room slowly join in until everyone is staring at Max and Red.
OOC:
Remnant: Please name this officer!

A few of the workers on break mutter something about not wanting trouble or not knowing nothing about nobody or some such and wander away from the two strangers. It looks like this place is a printing press of some kind; discarded four-color flyers on the ground suggest that maybe they specialize in junk mail.

However, one particularly large man lingers a moment longer as he finishes a cigarette. "I think I know what you's after," he says, throwing the butt to the concrete, where it shatters into a thousands sparks. "Name's Lenny. I been thinking 'bout checking out a warehouse not far from here. Ain't heard they're hirin', mind yous, but fella I knows says he seen lots of guys goin' in an' outta the place. Was thinkin' o' headin' over there when my shift ends in a half hour or so. Might be nice to have some backup, if you know what I'm sayin'."
OOC:
I think if some threat or despair had come up, a fight might have. made sense. In this case, the triumph means you get a guide if you want him.

"Thanks Detective Mahoney, this is Detective Carey Mahoney by the way Ma'am." Max explains to Red. "I'm sure anyone else here would do the same and follow protocol. I wouldn't say doing what you're suppose to do is being a hero though. Except for SWAT they'd have probably done a better job and looked really cool doing it..." states to the crowd with an open hand raised with the realization in truth more experienced cops probably would have done a better job shows on his face. His hand slowly goes down as he sighs. Once the crowd disperses he'll ask the question. "Detective you wouldn't by chance know who got the case for what happened at the gym would you?"

OOC:
Remnant, make a Charm check on the room to represent your speech just now. Average upgraded (RP) difficulty, with two boosts since they know you and Red were involved in the action last night. Mahoney (LOL) is definitely trying to embarrass you. 2 SP are available if you need one.
