Marv is coming out of the kitchen, draining a sports drink when he hears Red speak up. "Mmmmm... Mmm... I like that!" He hums as he finishes draining the bottle, pointing at Red excitedly in support of his idea. He walks over to the tied up punks and leans down in front of them, slapping one of their cheeks, "Yooo-hooo. Wake up, lil' buddy. I got some questions for you." He ends with a sharp slap across his face that makes the punk's teeth rattle. "Dammit! Wake up, already! Anybody got an alarm clock?"
OOC:
Marv's concussion makes his medicine skill even worse than usual. Assuming this should be a hard check + 1 difficulty for my crit injury, if not, drop the last difficulty dice I suppose.

Wake up lil' buddy! (Medicine check)

OOC:
incredible doctoring going on here.
Jan 21, 2020 1:18 am
The man doesn't move. In fact, he doesn't seem to be breathing. Marv's unsure if his unorthodox first aid is to blame, of if the guy was dead all along. But he doesn't stir.

Sirens get louder and louder outside until you can see the flashing red and blue lights through the windows. You realize you can stick around, but you're likely to be embroiled in giving police statements and the like if you do.
OOC:
3 threat = police! Up to y'all if you stick around (in which case we can fast-forward to tomorrow morning) or try to split.
Jan 21, 2020 1:44 am
Hank walks back from the supply closet, chewing painkillers and grimacing at the acrid taste. He hooks his foot under the cattle prod and kicks it up into his hand. Then, thinking better of it, he pats the man's pockets down for some kind of ID or clue to his identity.
OOC:
I'm fine with sticking around, but don't feel strongly about it. If we do stick around, Hank will stash the cattle prod so it doesn't get taken by the cops.
Jan 21, 2020 3:06 am
OOC:
Give me an Easy (P) Perception check, Kermit. But I'll upgrade with a SP to R since the cops are right outside.
Jan 21, 2020 4:18 am
"Guy... guy...?" Marv checks the thug's pulse after his heavy slap, and his brows furrow. He pulls his lips back in a grimace and sucks air in through his teeth, "This guy was already dead, right?" He whispers to himself as he hears the sirens park themselves outside of the gym.
Jan 21, 2020 12:15 pm
Suddenly aware that the cops will come into view any minute, Hank searches the man's pockets as quickly as possible.

"Mr. Collisto that is not how you do first aid..." Max states flatly looking over moving rapidly attempting to save the man's life.
OOC:
Unsure if he's already passed attempting CPR if possible.
Jan 21, 2020 6:11 pm
Hank's quick search doesn't turn up an ID, but he does find a few things in the would-be leader's pockets: a receipt for the masks at some place called Harry's Holiday Haven, a wadded-up $10 bill, a printed floor plan for the One-Two (as if someone took a cell phone picture of the emergency evacuation map posted by the exits and printed it), and a second floor plan of what looks like a drive-in theater.
OOC:
Hank keeping these things? You getting them means the cops don't get them, so up to you how cooperative you want to be once they come through the door.
Max finds the man unresponsive, but perhaps with a first-aid kit (and not having a concussion like Marv)...
OOC:
You can try a Daunting (PPPP) Medicine check if you want, sure. He's not plot-critical, but if you want to put on a good face for the police, it's not a bad idea.
Jan 21, 2020 6:22 pm
Maxwell tries as best he can manage until EMT first responders arrive.

Hm... Harry's Holiday Haven, huh? Looks like the masks were just for tonight's little party. The cops may be interested in that, but this map seems like it'll be useful later.

Hank pockets the drive-in theater map, and slides the other items back where they came from. He returns to the locker room, where he stashes the cattle prod with his things. Then he walks out, dabbing his still bleeding head. I'll be lucky to avoid stitches...What kind of lowlife attacks a man with a door?
Jan 21, 2020 9:59 pm
"Aw, geeze, Max. I, I didn't mean to hurt him. I'm kinda a newbie at this kind of stuff, man. I mean, I can butterfly a cut with the best of 'em, but this..." He shakes his head as he watches Max minister to the thug, "I really didn't mean to hurt him worse, Max."
Jan 22, 2020 5:54 am
"Get your game faces on guys!" Red shouts as she peeks through the windows, spotting for them as they do...whatever they are doing. "I'll try to smooth talk them, okay?"
Jan 22, 2020 12:23 pm
"Not now." Max says bluntly still moving on the man not accepting the reality of the situation.
Jan 22, 2020 2:29 pm
Max's efforts don't rouse the man, who does indeed seem to be dead. That makes at least four casualties from the brouhaha, but only the EMTs will be able to tell for sure.

As if on cue, three police officers and a pair of EMTs burst through the doors. Spotting your group, one of the cops comes over to find out what's going on.
OOC:
Let's assume that since you're still here, you're stuck for at least another hour as you give statements and so on. With several folks more battered than you (the bad guys), you'll have to wait a few hours to get medical treatment. You won't be able to follow up on any leads until midnight at the earliest (and you may decide to get a good night's rest either way). So,

Do you need access to the cops to follow up on any of these leads? The plates, maybe?

Anyone want medical attention?

Or should we just screen wipe to the wee hours or the next morning?
Jan 22, 2020 3:12 pm
Max once pushed off the fourth to fall stares for a long time before closing his eyes. He gives the police information as needed about the assault from what he saw and the protection of the Mayor, he'll give the police the partial plates to run. He'll also try and find out who's in charge and have introduce them to the Mayor. Once that's done he'll find a wall to prop up against and slowly slump down to the ground and stare between his feet.

Do I say something... Is he going to say something... It was an accident... Max thinks to himself looking from Marv to the Police and the most recently deceased. He looks to the blood stains from the men who fell from the broken sky light and felt quisy and cradles his head in his hands.

Fuck. he thinks to himself trying to muddle things out in his head.

OOC:
I don't have much to add, I might decide to post later tonight but if not consider that my no.
Jan 23, 2020 1:32 am
Marv heads over to Max and slides down against the wall until he's sitting next to him, "Hey, kid. You did everything you could. Those guys took a beating." He says, "Sometimes guys fall wrong, silent head bleed..." He shrugs and presses his lips together, "Even when you do everything right, things still go wrong sometimes. I shouldn'ta slapped him around like that, but that wasn't enough to do somebody in who wasn't sliding that way already. He was probably past what you coulda done before Hank ever even got him restrained." He lays a hand on Max's shoulder, "You got a good head on your shoulders, and a good heart where it counts," Marv pats Max's chest to show what he's talking about. "We're going to figure out what's so important these guys were willing to put it all on the line, kid. Don't worry, all this sufferin' won't be for naught."

Hank gives his statement to the police, pointing out the details that he can remember from the van out back. He points out the map of the gym that the leader had, letting them know that this was clearly a targeted attack.

As an EMT walks by, he waves her over. "'Scuse me, ma'am. I know you've got your hands full, but whenever you folks get a second, I took a few headshots and wouldn't mind a professional opinion."

As she returns to the task at hand, his eyes fall on Max and Marv. Hank grabs a few bottles of water from the fridge and walks over.

He tosses one to Red and Marv, then leans down and places a bottle of water within easy reach for the rookie. "It was a bad scene tonight. And I know it doesn't feel like it, but you did good. Protect and serve, that's what they say, right? Well I'll be damned if you didn't risk your life doing just that. These guys, they knew what they were getting into, and they were ready to do a lot worse than we did. Hell, they tried to. Those goons in the alley would have killed me where I stood if I had much to hurt up here." Hank taps his temple with his index finger lightly, grimacing a bit.

"You saw what they were trying to do to Lance. If we didn't stop them, I'm not sure if he'd ever have walked back in here. Look around, Max. The only casualties here were aggressors and warriors. You ask me, that's a hell of a lot better than most turf wars, especially in this town."
OOC:
I don't have a problem with picking up in the morning once we're done here. I'd like medical treatment, but Hank doesn't have anything special he wants to hunt down tonight or with police help. Hank would tell the group about the map as soon as possible, but probably wait until the cops aren't around.
Jan 23, 2020 3:44 am
Red stays unusually quiet during the pep talk, seemingly doing some reflecting of her own as she considers everyone's counseling words. She didn't have the best knowledge on Max's past, but she suspects this may become a pivotal moment in his life. At least he didn't have something bad happen earlier...

Finally she chimes in. "Better thugs then innocents. At least that's what I think."
