"Thanks Mr. Mikowski." Max begins after receiving the microphone..

"If I could have your attention please. There may be an altercation to the back in a violent and deviant manner... if you'd like a photo op please remember they're likely attack you as well for the fun of it so be safe and use your flashes at full force for the best viceral pictures of violence from rabble-rousers as you move away." Max states moving next to the Mayor and nodding taking the mic away from his mouth.

"If we have need to move you to your car Miss Mayor we might want to also check for a carbomb..." he adds with a nod taking a defensive stance in front of the Mayor which she can still see what's going on.

OOC:

Is it still a daunting Leadership check? Answer: Yes, going to use a Story Point also.

Daunting (PPPP), yes, based on the crowd size. I'm cool with three boosts: Assist from Lance, passed boost from Red, and using the mic for the third. Triumphs and such can always help out somehow, and remember y'all have all the Story Points now.

Marv is seeing red through the suds that stream down his face. "Nyyyyyeeeeeaaaaaaaa!" he screams, vein pulsing on his forehead, "What a waste of good beer! Get over here, you forgot the tip!" He shouts as hr takes two quick steps and launches himself knee-first at the nearest attacker.

OOC:

One maneuver to get to engaged (or two if it takes it, let me know) then an aim (if I can use the second maneuver) to strike with my knee.

2 Threat = free maneuver for the target, who merges into the 3-person minion group.

With the two men by the door still hunched over, rubbing their eyes, Marv's knee finds two easy targets in close proximity. His knee slams into the first man's face, then the second in rapid succession. The rubber masks offer little protection. The first man collapses to the asphalt, while the other seems to be holding on by a thread. The other three attackers yank him back and point at Marv. "Get him!"

Wow, the Triumphs are with you all! :) So, that's technically 1 Success, 1 Triumph, and 2 Threat. Means you'll get the crowd to play along with what you told them. I've got an idea for the Threat, but I need to make sure we account for the Triumph first. Is deputizing someone what you want to do with it? If so, who would that be?

Max's words seem to strike home, as he keeps the crowd calm and redirects their attentions to the back door. Several camera operators train their lenses toward the back, ready to snap photographs. In fact a well-known shock jock, "Laser-Legs" Lucretia Loretta, takes a few steps toward he back door. "Typical!" she says. "Can't even have a nice event without some two-bit gang sending in the foot soldiers!"

Meanwhile, the mayor and her assistant seem ready to head toward the front door to leave the event.

If it's short move maneuver and do stuff, if medium move, -2 strain move, do stuff. It more theater of the mind versus choke points and being 5 feet away from being able to swing on a mook though.

OOC:

The thugs are outside the back door (left side of the map), and you're at medium range to the back door at the southwest corner of the mat ("dance floor" and "stage" on this map). I'd say it's one move to short from the door, two to get through it and beat on them (with 2 strain). You're at long range from the front door (right side of map), since you have to run around the restrooms. This is where anyone who wants to flee is headed, so going that direction might mean escorting them to keep them safe. Then there are the guys on the roof who are who knows where and trying who knows what.

Okay, thanks for the help! I guess I'll exchange my action for the "aim" maneuver assuming I can/don't need a serious skill check to sway the crowd at this point.

"Everybody stay cool, head towards the exit!" Red shouts with a small leap in the air, followed by her pointing with one arm to the exit while the other spins in the general direction. Remembering the entrance might not be a bastion of halcyon, she starts heading over with the crowd, being on guard for any would-be ambushes.

Several members of the crowd start to move toward the entrance, on the other side of the locker rooms and past the reception desk. The mayor stands firmly on the mat. "I'm not going anywhere! This is my city. Let these thugs come. I'll talk some sense into them."

Her assistant stands next to her. "I'm not leaving you, Ms. Mayor." With the invaders so far kept at bay down by the back door, the two have no reason to be afraid... yet.

Marv is in full-on swing-til-there's-nothing-to-swing-at streetfight mode, his ears still ringing. "What's that?" He shouts, two levels too high for how close they are to him. He's twisting one finger in his ear in a fruitless attempt to quiet the ringing. "I've got this ringing in my ears, andI'm having a little trouble hearing your pleas for mercy!" He closes on the group again and whips his knee around in a tight spin to give it maximal force.

They weren't engaged with Marv, so that's 1 maneuver to engage them, as well (costing 2 strain). We'll use the 1 Threat to cost you 1 more Strain, for a total of 3 that turn.

Marv doesn't let the masked man he injured get away. He whips his knee around, sending the man splashing into a rotten-smelling puddle oozing from under the dumpster. Marv feels a sharp pain in his inner thigh, suggesting he may have overextended his limb just a tad.

Nevertheless, the three remaining goons start circling the ex-cop. One cracks his knuckles while another lets out a high-pitched titter. "That dog ain't gonna hunt, son," he says. Just then, the three men rush Marv from all directions, swinging their gloved fists and pounding him in the stomach and chest!

OOC:

5 damage to Marv, minus your 3 Soak = 2 Wounds!

The scene inside has remained calm so far, thanks in part to Max and Red helping keep the crowd calm. But the sound of shattering glass draws everyone's attentions to the ceiling: There, the skylight has been shattered, raining glass all over the floor! Worse yet, figures in masks are visible on the roof overhead, and one of them drops a long rope down through the now open skylight...

"What the hell!" Lance glowers. "That skylight cost two grand to install!" He jumps in front of the mayor and gets into a fighting stance as if expecting the figures to drop through the hole at any moment.

Hank steps through the doorway, swinging the chain in a gentle arc. Despite its weight and his ringing ears, he tries to make it feel light and easy in his hands. Just your average brave marshal, out to lasso some masked bandits. Roy Rogers, eat your heart out.

The chain swings around once, twice, and on the third whiffs just above the thug's head.

One maneuver to engage, one maneuver to aim (2 strain), then a melee attack using the chain. The chain adds 3 setback dice, so I'll use a story point to upgrade my attack.

Gross. 3 failure, 1 triumph, 2 advantage.

For the advantage, I'll give Marv a boost die on his next attack.

For the triumph, can we say the rope of one of the minion groups gets cut on the glass as they're coming down, which makes them fall part of the way? Or if damage is too much of a benefit, maybe they see the cut and have to take the other rope down (which slows their descent to one group at a time).
