Hi Everyone, I read through the game posts related to you all leaving and starting your journey into the wilds, and I am feeling excited to play.

I do wonder though, wouldn't it be better to have a new character join us?

I mean, narratively it makes sense, but I'm just not sure about reusing Feliani... I guess I'm most concerned about how her creator would feel about it? BedzoneII didn't exactly mentioned anything about her staying with the group.

(Sorry, I'm just always concerned about using characters without permission. Guess it comes with being possessive about my own characters. :D)

I can understand the concern there. I am simply following the lead of our DM. I'll let DeJoker make any determinations as to what he would like me to do in order to join the game.

FlyingSucculent I am only saying the following to you (and anyone else reading this) to perhaps get you to reconsider your stance some where down the road and look at it a bit differently.

First I have never understood that position -- I mean yes I would understand it if we were some how making money off the intellectual material (aka stealing and claiming it was our own - plagiarizing) but that is not being done. Or if we were claiming that what transpires afterwards is some how attributed to the original creator which it is not. Or if we were taking the original creator out of the picture which we are also not doing. We are not going behind any ones back, nor lying about anything. It is kind of like using Open Source Programming Code -- we fully accredit the original creator up front and always.

Further I once even had a petty GM, whose game I left due to poor GMing, tell me how they were enjoying killing my character -- and I simply reply : You are not killing my character as it ceased being my character in your game when I left your game. You are just taking your childish aggression out on a meaningless NPC in your game. So enjoy if it makes you feel better some how, as I could careless what you do with it, its yours thus what you are doing you are actually doing to yourself in a way.

I have also stepped into previous characters that were created for games that lost their player (something that seems to happen a lot in PbP games). In these situations I simply step in and do my best to adhere to what had transpired prior to my taking over the character to maintain continuity and over all feel - aka I kept the general personality and such as much as possible. Sometimes I requested a minor tweak to the mechanics to help me play the character a bit better but most of the time (and I have done this numerous times) I can just take the toon as is and role play much like an actor can when handed a script.

Another element I have found is that many players are impressed and/or happy that their character concept was something that so impressed the GM that they were willing to extend the life of the character past its original concept either as an NPC or as revived PC under someone else's direction. As they say imitation is the best form of flattery.

Also this Feliani is actually slightly different than the original that BedZoneII was using as I had not finished working on all the elements of the Fae-Touched nor on the Enforcer class which it is now using. So the Feliani that was played by BedZoneII is different (for instance the Rapiers are being replaced with Scimitars) than the one that will be portrayed by HeroAmongMen -- I just had a player in need of a game and an interesting concept for this game that could use a player - which is to say I have developed and included into this game aspects that are tied into this character that I would like to pursue/explore and I am hoping you will enjoy this story arc associated with this concept. Oh and it is just one story arc of several that I have going on in the background

Lastly I believe I talked to BedZoneII about this (or something to this effect -- its been a while so a bit foggy on the details) and they had no issues with it.

I respectfully disagree with your view on that, and I'm afraid none of your arguments quite convince me - so we'll have to agree to keep to our opinions here. Our views on characters in general might be too different, in the end. And I don't mind characters being reused with author's permission, so it's not even exactly opposing stances. :D

While it is true that there is no commercial gain or marring of original creator's name, some people just don't like their concepts being used by someone else, regardless of intention. I know that I would be uncomfortable if you did it with my characters, even if I liked the new player and trusted them to stay true to the character. Speaking of, if I do ever leave this game for any reason - which I have no plans of doing as of now, but hey, just in case? - I'd like to ask you to not continue using Egret without my approval. (Of course, it's ultimately up to you what you do in your game, though.)

Okay thanks for sharing but yeah I guess we can have differing opinions on that ;) but I still do not understand it. Which by the way in no way means I cannot respect it, as that is simply respecting someone else who is being respectful themselves.

Yeah Bedzone and I discussed quite a few game concepts and mechanics both in this game and the game I was in of theirs.

I do understand the feeling of not understanding. :P But yeah, let our views co-exist!

So, is Hero going to be joining us right now, or after the battle? I don't mind waiting or proceeding, whichever suits best! Maybe Arina will return too till then.

Basically after the battle -- I will be posting to that thread soon-ish still juggling a lot over here -- part of that is getting Hero set up to step in and take the reigns -- I was going to post earlier but yeah sometimes me plans do not always work out these days

I know I offered to run Lex but my focus on GP has been erratic for the last several days and will be for several days more due to some pressing work and personal tasks.

No issues rpgventurer would have ghosted Lex earlier but I just lost track of time expecting a post to trigger my next post rather than watching the passage of time but thanks for the heads up I will try to watch the passage of time a little closer

Okay folks to help keep combat moving forward from now on please post at the bottom of your in game post an OCC denoting what action you are taking that round -- or if it is obvious because you have made attack rolls that is fine as well -- this way I do not have to clarify what your character is doing that round as it is outlined clearly within the OCC or via Combat rolls

Well their height is based on their Strength (74" + Strength) and weighing between 230 and 480 pounds so yeah if you are on the higher end of the height spectrum you would be on the higher end of the weight spectrum as well

Okay so more on on Dukagsh -- how much have you invested in Religion ;) btw

Okay I will look into Dukagsh and denote how much Shump knows so far about his patron -- but Shump is not proficient in Religion so that means his knowledge while dedicated is still going to be weak compared to someone who had proficiency in Religion. He knows enough I am sure to cover him for his current level and as he gains levels he will most likely learn more since he will gain access to more prayers (spells)
