How's it going people?
My name is Anderson and I'd like to introduce myself on this website, my history with tabletop RPGs and what I came here for.
I only started playing tabletop RPGs last year, even though I knew about them for quite a long time and even followed a few campaigns though a podcast here in Brazil. Mainly because I only found a group to play with when I got into college.
I started out as a player on our first game which turned out to have only one session because everyone was so lost and new to the idea, plus the whole cyberpunk setting and the difficult system haha. It seemed much easier on the podcasts I've heard but then things are different when you play it yourself since there is no editing and such. But it was still fun until our GM lost his patience.
The second time was much more interesting since our former GM wanted me to take his place. This time we took in the things we learned from the first time and chose a much simpler system (D&D 5E) and I even trained GMing with our former GM and his more experienced friend on Discord. To sum things up: I created my very own story based on some random characters that we made up when training on Discord and we played it for 2 very long sessions at my friend's house!!
I was really thrilled by this because everyone mostly enjoyed the songs I picked, the story, the narration and the combat. I had much to learn and I still think I do of course . But the fact was that it was really time consuming yet rewarding . Sadly I didn't get to finish my campaign yet because of some issues between the players and such.I guess it was special on it's way because they told me they had never played with a GM that actually put effort into picking songs, planning encounters, secrets and plots. But then that created a lot of expectations I wasn't entirely prepared to meet as the campaign went on.
The other time around we played a Sci-Fi Horror based on the movie Interstellar (using Call Of Cthulhu 7E System) and I switched places with the former GM once again, since he had learned more about the whole RPG thing by being a player as well. But that one is halted as well, and possibly dead I would say. It was very RP intensive and I loved that and so did the GM...but the other players didn't follow as closely and didn't seem interested as the game had little to no action at times.
So that's basically it, I have some experince as a player and a GM with two systems and a bit of a frustration when it comes to finishing the games I start, and I'd say came to this site for that very reason: I want to try this site out, have some fun, try to finish some campaigns and sometime in the future take on the role of GM once again.
I'd like to thank everyone that keeps this site running and of course the ones who had the patience to read all of this!! ^^
