This thread is for discussing Smeeg699 character other players should only post to this in regards to Smeeg699's character and story collaboration is included within that.

I had had a thought to have a character with the Padawan Survivor talent tree, having been selected to become a Padawan during the closing months of the Clone Wars who was able to survive through the Dark Times. Would it be possible, and I know that Shadowgab asked something similar, but instead of a full lightsaber, for my character to have kept just their kyber crystal from their saber? Having discarded the rest in order to help hide their Jedi origins...

That is fine -- there are actually other such survivors that eventually came out of the wood work -- and it might play well into the the whole mix Would like to hear where they went when they went into hiding as well as any of the other stuff that occurred like how was he able to survive and such.

Sorry for the delay, I had a long day at work on Friday followed by crashing early, then today I was out with the family all morning/day, and as we were trying to come home, my wife fell (while carrying our 14 month old) and twisted her ankle really badly, so spent some time in the ER trying to figure out what was up.

I hope to have more of an idea of what I'm gonna do when by the end of the weekend. I'm leaning towards Jedi Sentinel Sentry with either the Jedi: Padawan spec or the Padawan Survivor universal spec (or maybe both since it kinda makes sense to have both, though that's a lot of points invested in that).

So I was thinking to take the similar bump in FR at character creation that Shadow was talking about from Collapse to reflect the training my character had gotten from a young age at the hands of the Jedi prior to the Clone Wars and Order 66. For species I'm leaning towards Togruta. Still have to decide on male or female, but leaning female based on the concept I'm building my head, heh.

Alright... So I think I've settled on species, career/spec, and gender. I'm gonna go with a female, Togruta Jedi Shadow. She was young, only 12-14 when Order 66 was given and spent most of the Dark Times in hiding, picking up work where and as she could. Her unique talents as a Shadow helped to keep her under the Empire's radar. Eventually she had one too many "lucky accidents" and ended up fleeing [world I haven't determined yet] and was again lucky enough to be able to join up with a Rebel cell. She fought with the Rebels during the majority of the movies' time frames. Through most of it she kept her past a secret, living in fear of Vadar and the Inquisitors and only recently has begun to embrace her heritage (and training) again.

Instead of a fully functional lightsaber I was thinking that she kept only her kyber crystal, which she incorporated into her traditional Togruta head piece. Either in the first session, or just before it if you prefer, she'll probably construct herself a new hilt using the rules in the Sentinel book.

I'm still working out specifics and would love input from you on her Master, and other details perhaps. I have in mind some stuff for her master which I'll send to you in a private message...

Being that my character was raised by the Jedi and received her initial training in the Force from them, is it reasonable to ask after a Mentor bonus, at least for either Enhance, Sense, or Move (what I see to be some of the core Jedi powers)?

Also, for starting gear and gear acquired later during our formative adventures, what sort of restrictions are you imposing? Nothing about Rarity X or no Restricted Items... Stuff like that.

Kalavera Sena, Togruta Rebel Alliance member.

Step 1: Will provide her background in a separate post. As far as the present goes, she's a respected member of the Alliance to Restore the Republic and has been on multiple missions with them leading up to the destruction of the Death Star over Endor. She is a Togruta bordering on her middle years with pale blue and white coloring. Her montrals and head-tails are primarily blue with jagged white lines akin to lightning streaking up and down them. Her face is almost entirely blue with only three diamonds of white, one under each eye and the third centered on her forehead, along with a line of white extended from underneath her nose down to almost the point of her chin. Around her montrals she nearly always wore an elaborate headdress of a fine, silver mesh that contained, sitting centered on the white diamond on her forehead, a small purple crystal.

Those she served alongside in the Rebel Alliance know her as a quiet, but dedicated worker who tends to keep to herself and doesn't speak much about her past. Her skills at stealth and infiltration came in handy more than once during the campaign against the Empire, and luck seemed to be on her side more often than not. Since the destruction of the second Death Star and the deaths of both the Emperor and the insidious Darth Vader those around her have noticed a new glimmering of hope in her eyes and a bounce to her step that was never there before.

Although listed as "starting gear", my character's gear has all been acquired during the intervening years as she would have discarded nearly all of her Jedi provided equipment from the Clone Wars in her efforts to hide, keeping only the utility belt, because in the end it's just a belt, albeit a slightly fancy one maybe.

Let me know if anything there is an issues, when I get some more time I'll compose all the notes I have regarding her background, and her five "adventures". So you're aware my plan is to have one be set during the Clone Wars when she was a Padawan, three set during the Dark Times, and the final one be a mission with the Rebel Alliance. I haven't fleshed these out yet, really, beyond that, so if you have input, suggestions, or interesting things you want to do, let me know, I'm down for some fun.

I had debated asking if I could start with a different type of kyber crystal instead of an Ilum one, since she just has the crystal and still needs to construct a saber (something I assume we'll deal with in game), but without talking with you first, I held off. So if you have some idea for a thing (maybe that mission during the Clone Wars era I found a crystal while with my Master), let me know and we'll work out the details.

Okay as one of the Post Creation Rewards options is to take the ( 1 Contribution Rank/Reward ) and to obtain any "respected" level in the Rebel Alliance you would need at least that I would think especially since you did not invest anything in your Duty which I feel should be higher as well. It kind of depends on how much of a Rebel aligned individual you are wanting to be. I mean I could it see it going both ways -- a respected rebel member -- or -- or a nearly invisible rebel member

As such that is are first point that needs to be establish as you generally do not get that free however if you invest fully into it as part of your character creation I can work in that direction with you -- as for the Force Point (sure) as for the Kyber Crystals well we either have a source for those if you want to get some in game but having some as part of your head piece is viable but they would cost you something to start with --- note you do get a "Contribution Reward" if you take Contribution 1

I didn't necessarily mean that she had any rank with the Rebels, which was what I saw as the Contribution Rank, more like she was someone who had fought with them, whom they knew and recognized could get jobs done. She mostly stayed in the background during her time in the Rebellion, trying NOT to get too noticed or draw too much attention. She was afraid of what might happen should she draw the attention of the Inquisitors or Vader himself down upon her Rebel cell.

To clarify a little more, the leadership of the Rebellion probably wouldn't recognize her on sight, but a lot of the ordinary grunts would have a grudging respect for some of the things she accomplished. So a bit of both invisible member and respected, depending on who you were talking to within the Rebellion.

As for the kyber crystal, I'm counting that as my "free" lightsaber for starting at Knight rank. Except that she doesn't have a saber, she broke it down, keeping only the crystal and creating a traditional Togruta headdress from bits of it as a reminder of where she came from.

Once we get into game I was thinking to use the lightsaber construction rules in Endless Vigil to craft a saber, seeing as the Emperor (and his inquisitors) as well as Vader are no longer a danger, in her mind.

No if you read the Contribution Rank it indicates how trusted you are with the Rebellion -- which you have themed her to being such -- and to even be considered even slightly trustworthy you would need a Contribution Rank 1 but a 2 (which you can obtain if you wanted to) or higher would be much better. Of course with a C-Rank naturally comes the offer of a military rank if you want to accept it -- note you do not have to accept said military rank (and thus stay in the background) as it does come with responsibilities and puts you more in the limelight but most (but not all) take it as good leaders are in short supply (both those that take the military rank and those that do not are equally respected)

Again yes you can take the kyber crytsal as your "free" lightsaber but considering your background I thought the Contribution Rank would be more in line and there is a place known by another pc where one can obtain kyber crystals so you could pick that up as part of an adventure in game -- since getting one from said location IS an adventure so-to-speak

And I will be looking at both of the lightsaber construction guidelines and posting what I will be going forward with so that should be pretty clear by the time you get to making the lightsaber

Final Note : All that I am putting forth are suggestions based off of what you outlined for your character and nothing more -- in the end it is your decision to go with whatever you want to -- I just do not want you step into a concept and find that half of it does not exist because the basic framework was not put into place during creation

Again the Contribution Rank (which is not synonymous with military rank) denotes how trusted/respected you are by the Rebellion -- a 0 means you are barely trusted and a 1 is a very low level of trust where the 2 actually breaks the new recruit realm and steps into somewhat trusted alliance member and that was what I thought you were wanting to implement... keep in mind that lots of things can be done in game and so far no one has that connection with the rebellion although both of the other current players were members of the alliance they are both still considered raw recruits with a C-Rank of 0 --- so keep that in mind as well

Also keep in mind that C-Rank comes with a C-Reward which is rather vague but they do have outlines for what it might mean so it can be used to replace Credits in some cases especially when it comes to common gear

But as my final note --- all I am doing is trying to help you create the character concept that you outlined or help you redesign that concept to fit the character you are building --- it is ultimately up to you as to what you play not me I am just storyteller and I can tell a story with just about anything you create ;-) and will do my best to make it fun as well

It's something to consider. I had thought that Contribution Rank was a group thing, based on the total Duty value of the party as a whole (which still feels like 5 Duty is a little low, especially with only three or four players it seems, but we'll work with it). The only issue with swapping out my kyber crystal and taking Contribution Rank is that I feel, RP wise, like she might have kept her crystal with her.

Then again, kyber crystals do resonate within the Force and keeping it could have made it easier for her to be found by the Jedi hunters during the Dark Times... Lemme give this some thought. Now that that threat is lifted, if she didn't have a crystal, she might have decided to go looking for one again, which could be how I meet up with the party. I dunno... I'll consider and get back to you later in the day.

Technically Duty > Contribution -- and -- Obligation -- and Morality -- are were Group oriented things (and I think there is another one or more floating around out there) but since I have pulled all 3 of these together -- I will be tailoring them more individually which of course could spill over into effecting the group ;)

So no they are not primarily group oriented things anymore they are individual oriented things that can kind of be group affecting and group applicable should the "group" decide to do so otherwise each player will be affected by their own values based on the characters primary focus and what is taking place within the game and this could spill over into the group

Ok, having had a little time to think about it, I am kind of leaning towards taking the Contribution Rank to represent the fact that I have been a member of a Rebellion cell for at least 3 years, if not longer, and even being an "invisible member of the team" would still be like warrant some recognition.

However I propose to you this, instead of using one of the other PCs knowledge of a location of kyber crystals, could my character have, following the execution of Order 66 and her need to go into hiding, having taken her Jedi accouterments and hidden them in a Jedi cache that she knows the location of. And feeling now that with Palpatine and Vader dead it might be safe to take up her Jedi heritage again, she sets off to go retrieve her hidden cache.

I figure common things that a Jedi Padawan (Jedi Commander rank in the Grand Army of the Republic) would have been issued would be things like Jedi Battle Armor, a code cylinder with her rank in the army, possibly a training holocron... I dunno, the specifics of what's in the cache, aside from her crystal/saber, are completely up to you. But I figure that could be a reason I'm going wherever the adventure is starting off at, or it could be a destination I'll want to go to once game play begins, giving a little adventure hook..

I can go with a cache existing as an adventure hook but I do want to warn you that you might end up finding kyber crystals (since we actually have a known source for some) and making your own lightsaber before you find that cache ;) however I can still make the cache worthwhile it being an adventure hook and all. Further if all else fails then you still have that cache to fall back on to get a lightsaber
