Duren dances away from the gooey substance and fends it off with his sword if it's close enough for him to engage.

Rolls

Initiative - (1d20+8)

(11) + 8 = 19

The two rippling gray oozes have indistinct forms, but surge hungrily towards the closest targets - Corunir and Snakebluff!
OOC:
I've got a neat little initiative tracker that I rolled the oozes' initiatives in. I'll probably only update the tracker (with hp and stuff) at the top of each round, but for the most part you should be able to see on your own if your attacks hit and then narrate appropriately. I also prefer it when players announce at the end of their post how much damage they deal to whom, as well as the damage type. I may also add whimsical interjections between peoples' turns, but when you're up next in line just go for it.

Heister - let me know Andras

"Disgusting slimes, the Flametongue line will not end this day!" Zigurd announces loud as he sees their slippery foes.
He reaches up to the large metal handle over his shoulder.
From the frog on his back he draws a large, slightly curved blade.
The sword is very reminiscent of a large tooth.

Rolls

Initiative - (1D20+1)

(12) + 1 = 13

OOC:
Know what exactly?
OOC:
Lol, sorry about that. When I was posting last I thought your character sheet might be on dnd beyond somewhere, so I was going to ask your hp and ac. And then I actually checked your character sheet here on GP and found it all filled out. And promptly forgot to delete that sentence fragment. Apologies for the confusion!

And speaking of confusion, I'll clear another couple of things up for everyone: I'll put Ziggurd where he should be in the initiative order instead of at the end. Also, according to the initiative tracker it should be Zanzur (Campeador) who goes first! And then Duren, and then Snakebluff.

OOC:
Should we do free-for-all attack posts or wait for the people in front of us post first?
Feb 1, 2020 12:06 am
OOC:
It's been a while since we've heard from Campeador. Let's just go through in order for this fight. We might try something faster next time.

Aldrusian - with Campeador delayed you're up next. Go for it!

Duren steps to where he has a good swing at one of the oozes and pounds it with his mace.

Rolls

attack w/mace, damage - (1d20+4, 1d6+2)

1d20+4 : (13) + 4 = 17

1d6+2 : (3) + 2 = 5

Feb 1, 2020 5:40 am
Zanzur uses his transmutation magic to pick up a fist-sized stone and fling it at the same ooze that Duren is attacking. As the rock whizzes past, the residual magic in its wake settles on Duren's leather jerkin, charging it with evocation magic.
OOC:
Duren's armor now holds 1 transfusion charge.

Rolls

Bludgeoning damage if ooze fails DC 13 Dexterity save - (3d8)

(431) = 8

Feb 1, 2020 12:49 pm
Duren's mace strikes home on the nearest ooze, splatting a good portion of the wet monster. As he draws the weapon back, however, the ranger notices that his weapon has sustained unusual wear.
[ +- ] Corrode Metal
Zanzur's spell has a more satisfying effect, sending the stone to smash into the center mass of the ooze.
OOC:
To make things clear, let's say that both Duren and Zanzur attacked Gray Ooze 1, so that one's got like 9 hp left.

Snakebluff, then Andras!

Rolls

Ooze Dex save vs catapult - (1d20-2)

(6) - 2 = 4

Feb 2, 2020 9:43 am
Noticing that Duren's sword got damaged by the attack, Unice decides to use her crossbow rather than the longsword she carries. She closes in on the undamaged Ooze, and shoots it at point blank range.

Rolls

Attack w/ Crossbow - (1d20+4)

(13) + 4 = 17

Damage (if it hits) - (1d6+2)

(5) + 2 = 7

OOC:
Alright, this is too slow for me. It's been a while since I ran a pbp game without either using my speedy rules or alongside some app like Discord or Facebook Messenger to poke people when it's their turn.

So! Officially swapping over to my speedy rules, found here. They take some getting used to, so feel free to ask any questions. Long story short, at the beginning of the round you players post and describe your turns (in any order), and then at the end of the round I summarize everyone's actions in context with each other and the enemies' actions. I also reserve the right to bump us into the next round when there is only 1 player left who hasn't posted, and that player gets 2 turns in the subsequent round.

Also, I encourage you all to take a look at the monsters' hp and AC - they're included at the beginning of each round in order to give you all free reign in narrating your own hits/misses.

We'll just say that those who have already taken their turn this round (Duren, Zanzur, and Snakebluff) are good as they are, and everyone else can pile in posts as soon as they want.

Hopefully this makes for more fast-paced gameplay! Have at it!

Tip unhooks the whips fastened over each hip and gives them a flick to unfurl them. "You reckon they'll splatter everywhere if I get 'em with these?" Two more quick flicks of her wrists send the whips cracking at the weakest ooze. "Cha cha!" she cries, adding her voice to the snap of the whips as they slice deep into the ooze.

Tip deals 9 damage to Ooze 1.

HP: 25/25
AC: 15

Rolls

Whip 1 - (1d20+5)

(15) + 5 = 20

Whip 2 - (1d20+5)

(9) + 5 = 14

Damage (for both) - (2d4+6)

(21) + 6 = 9

Feb 3, 2020 5:38 am
*Andras, seeing the damage done to the weapon put the sword away, but with the water rising, resorted to trying to hold the torch in his hand with his teeth as he pulled out his longbow and took a shot*

*the arrow connects, hitting ooze 1 with an arrow*

Rolls

Attack with Longbow - (1d20)

(14) = 14

Damage - (1d8+3)

(6) + 3 = 9

Feb 3, 2020 7:08 am
"Filthy abominations!" Corunir snarls when he sees the damage to Duren's mace. The paladin flings his longsword aside just as his companions destroy the first ooze. Then Coruninr draws a javelin and surges forward to deal with the remaining creature.

Rolls

Javelin melee attack - (1d20+5, 1d6+3)

1d20+5 : (7) + 5 = 12

1d6+3 : (4) + 3 = 7

Divine smite - (2d8)

(63) = 9

Feb 3, 2020 5:52 pm
Zigurd bellows a roar of challenge that almost sound bestial at the tail end as he follows Corunir's javelin into the second ooze.
OOC:
Ziggy is charging in whilst engaging his Dragon Rage which gives him temp HP and wreathes his blade in fire. Which we, Zigurd & I, are hoping make our weapon "magic enough" to avoid this corrosion? *fingers crossed
As he crosses the field, flame engulfs his blade but, the water which he wades in causes his footing to slip and he missed with Red Tooth by handbreadth.

Rolls

Slash attack on the Ooze#2 - (1D20+4)

(2) + 4 = 6

Sword damage, 2 of which is FIRE - (2D6+4)

(12) + 4 = 7

Feb 3, 2020 7:37 pm
The party lets loose on the two creeping oozes with weapons and spells. In moments the monsters are slain, but not before injuring the two nearest companions. When the echoes of combat cease, replaced once more with running water, both Corunir and Snakebluff find their armor compromised the same as Duren's weapon.
[ +- ] Pseudopod
With the immediate threat ended, the companions notice that the air they breathe seems more stale. Ahead, a hallway of stone leads deeper into whatever ruins this place might be...

Rolls

Ooze 1 vs Corunir - (1d20+4)

(19) + 4 = 23

Dmg to Corunir (bludgeoning, acid) - (1d6+1, 2d6)

1d6+1 : (3) + 1 = 4

2d6 : (36) = 9

Ooze 2 vs Snakebluff - (1d20+3)

(14) + 3 = 17

Dmg to Snakebluff (bludgeoning, acid) - (1d6+1, 2d6)

1d6+1 : (4) + 1 = 5

2d6 : (43) = 7
