Greetings,
Back in the early 80s, a buddy and me got a Commodore 64 and began learning to program. We dreamed of starting a company called "Midnite Oil Software" (because we'd stay up all night programming "burning the midnight oil").
The name stuck with me and I often use it for gamertags/usernames.
I started playing the original D&D in the late 70s after a school mate introduced me to the game in 8th grade. I got the AD&D hardcover books (PHB, MM, and DMG) when the first came out. There was a game shop within walking distance of the school I took driver's ed at and I would hang out there during breaks and talk D&D.
I went to a private high school and had a long bus ride to & from school so I began running a homebrew D&D campaign on the bus with some of my classmates. I also played single-player campaigns with my best friend/nextdoor neighbor. We'd take turrns DM'ing homebrew worlds.
Over the years I have played/DM'd lots of Play-by-post on playbyweb and have used every system except 4th edition. I had 2 long-running (1-2 years) campaigns on pbw, the first a 2e homebrew and the 2nd a 3.5e published module "The Citadel of Fire".
I am currently running a 5e campaign at my house and have 6 players. Our campaign is in its second year and my players just reached level 11. I'm using the Lost Lands Borderland Provinces/Bard's Gate campaign setting from Frog God Games (I got a ton of their material through a humble bundle deal and have backed a few of their kickstarters including Rappan Athuk).
I recently got the itch to dip my toes back into play-by-post and a Google search brought me to this site (reddit users seem to think this site is the best) so I thought I'd give it a try.
I look forward to gaming with you.
