Concept: the descendant of a defeated Eastreach general tookover "legitimately" one of the house established after the conquest.

Rolling first event to start picturing how things happened

Ascent : In old times, one of the many king of the Eastreach was outmanoeuvred by its enemies and found himself besieged in his castle while his armies were away. Using ingenious ploys and psychological warfare, a common guard Captain managed to keep the armies at bay for weeks, making them delay and delay their attack until the king's army finally came back. Low on supply, the attacker retreated. Impressed with the Captain and owing him his life, the King made him a noble and his Commander in Chief

Glory: General Sol and his descendants lead the King's force in many campaigns, increasing the small nation land and status. He was an expert at winning war without waging battle, using ploy and deception to lure his opponent out of position and force them to surrender.

Scandal: House Sol meteoric rise in power made them many ennemies. They eventually used their influence to discredit House Sol toward the King's family. They convinced the Royal family that a House using deception in battle could not have loyalty and that their use of shadow magic, mostly limited to rapid strategic deployment, were signs of corruptions. As such, House Sol lost command of the King's Army.

Victory: Being removed from their court position ended up having one advantage. When the Bloody Year campaign happened, House Sol was the first to understand that the small kingdom was doomed. Already out of favor, House Sol consolidated their forces and ressources under the guise of Royal disfavor and completely disappeared just before the Kingdom was destroyed by the Covenant.

Disease: The times of hiding were hard on the noble house. Living of the land, the constant movement and some usage of shadow magic to stay ahead of Scymira's forces took their toll. Many died of sickness and hunger. Other lost hope, became bitter and angry. The family lineage with shadow magic potential became more important and started exploring deeper and more dangerous magic.

Decay: When finally enough time had pass, House Sol discreetly came out of hiding. They married into the lesser branch of one of the House established over the old lands by Scymira's rulers.

Descent: As the lesser alliance of a lesser branch of a puppet House for the powers that be, House Sol was barely treated better than commoners. Still, they bid their time. They kept their lineage and memories strong with secret meeting and readings of the Scrolls of Sol, the surviving compiled notes and strategies of the House's founder.

Glory: Eventually, House Sol resilience and patience was rewarded. A particularly powerful band of brigand established their presence in the region, they beat the local forces repeatably and even overcame the lord castle. The populace was scared and it seemed like nothing could stop the bandits. However, in the middle of the night, the castle where the bandit had taken residence took fire. The fire was position so only one path out was possible and, as the bandit were running for safety, their hand full with loot instead of weapons, they were cut down mercilessly by House Sol's soldiers.

For their service to Scymira, the Sol family rewarded with the assets and people of the now defunct House they had married into and given Stewardship of the land. Finally, the path toward regaining their past glory could begin and time will tell if their wounded hearts will find peace or vengeance.

@Falconloft How does that look ?

That looks interesting :) I was in the Bloody Year Campaign against the "kingdom" so we could tie it there. Maybe we let you go into hiding as you sold us information as under the guise of Royal disfavor. That information could have lead to one of my glory events.

I don't see an obvious link between our houses in the events but with both of them being very old, maybe we had an alliance many generations ago, possibly even before the Bloody Year and while we haven't actually maintained that relationship after Sol went into hiding, we still have some historical links and see each other as "old allies"

@CESN If I read your history right, we would have had the Scymira Royal powers as a common history for a long period of our old ancient history.
As the ennemy of my ennemy is my friend, our loose friendly relationship could have been a factor in House Sol ability to foresee and survive the Bloody Year, and your House successes in the campaign.

Did you need more soldiers, the Kraken Society has crews specialized in raids. You could have hired a few to help...

@bowlofspinach I would see House Sol as an ally for one of your past expansion phase, but no connection recently because of the isolation from both Houses

@deadpool This had to be resolved in house to deserve enough prestige to be given the land to govern. I expect however that one of the first move from House Sol would have been to establish a dialogue for mutual help or hiring you for those kind of services in the future.

[ +- ] Festival of the Blaze
Troubadour and bard are heard around the lands, announcing the Festival of the Blaze, hosted by House Sol in the Eastreach during the week of the Inheritance. The festival commemorates the freedom from the bandits that had terrorized the region when they burned away in the castle they had stolen. People from all arounds the lands are invited to come the the festival, they are to leave a symbol of the past they want to leave behind and a prayer for the future, into the massive prepared bonfire that will be set ablaze as the highlight of the Festival. House Sol spare no expense to ensure the success of the festivities.

Using the first installment of the new Festival as an excuse, House Sol send ambassadors to many Houses to invite them to a special banquet during the festival. Notably Houses Irave, Namelle, Osmaa, Kraken Society, Revelos, Tamer receives those personal invitations (and some more who shown disinterests toward the Royal banquet).

House Maa-Talia will be attending the Royal Ascension, but would like to honor House Sol during their Festival by sending a small contingent to celebrate. They would like to bring a symbol of the past and a prayer for the future as well as a gift for the hosts. Would Maa-Talia have received an official invitation, or would they have heard of the festival by other channels?
Mar 28, 2020 5:17 pm
The festival will be common knowledge as troubadours are paid to sing about it all through the land (strangely, the Crownlands seems to be where it is heard the least). It is open to everyone.

House Maa-Talia will receive a official invitation to the banquet that happens during the Festival by a written letter delivered by a House Sol messenger. Your eyes in other Houses will tell you though that some Houses have received invitations with High ranking member of the Sol family and other did not receive invitations at all.
Mar 28, 2020 5:34 pm
Wouldn't be easier to actually send out the invitations to each house thread instead of having to clarify for each house whether or not they got an invite?
Mar 28, 2020 6:43 pm
maybe, but It is mostly a matter of available time on my part. I listed all those that were certain, I review the uncertain but interested as a case by case basis and just assume the rest did not get a personal invitation.

In the aftermath of what the royal house sees as a Fiasco, House Sol's leading members are called to the palace in Mossberg. It is not a request for an audience, it is a summons.

I dont understand, is this something I need to respond to or just an information for the next season? Have they just ignored the diplomat and the gift?

Add: House Sol has 34/100 cell by the water (50lands, 2 cell by land) so they are below 50%
