[IC] Sudden Payback (Session 2)

"You watch your mouth, old man!" The guy in the head-bandana takes a swing at Guy, putting his full weight behind the punch. Nevertheless, he only catches air as Guy deftly ducks below the fist. The brute catches his balance and positions himself defensively to block the next blow coming his way.

Meanwhile, Marv, Max, and Hank stumble through the door, while Bosko is still outside.
OOC:
Dodged that one somehow! :D He's got +1 defense until the end of his next turn for the advantage.

Will fast-forward to Guy's turn, since it seems all of you are using your turns to come inside.

"See? That's the problem with young hot-heads, makes predicting your sucker punches so obvious. Don't warn your target before you strike, just! Strike!"

Guy rushes in to attempt a hip-throw takedown!
OOC:
Sorry: Forgot to note that this guy has Adversary 1, Defense 1. Normally, means Melee or Brawl attacks are versus a RP+K difficulty. But Grappling is opposed, so its RRP+K versus him.

OOC:
So that's 6 damage to this guy before soak. Nicely done!

I've been overlooking this, but remember that Takedown has Exhausting 2, so it takes 2 strain to use it. It also has Prepare 1, so for Guy to get that boost for aiming, he needs to take a second maneuver on his turn, causing 2 more strain. I'll use that 1 threat for another strain, making a total of 5 on Guy for that attack. Last 2 threat will give Guy a setback on his next check.
Bosko stumbles into the bar with the others and tries to break free of Hank's grip.
OOC:
Suggstion for Bosko's 1 threat?

Brawl (Grappling)

OOC:
Maybe Bosko struggles so hard he starts to tire himself out, suffering one strain?
Apr 2, 2020 11:47 am
OOC:
That sounds good to me. I'm a big beefy boy, so it makes sense I'd be hard to get away from.
Apr 2, 2020 1:02 pm
In his struggles, Bosko seems to tire himself out a bit, and he gives up trying to pry himself free for now. Meanwhile, a grin splits Big Ole Betty's face as the fight breaks out. She puts two fingers into her mouth and whistles, a shrill, piercing melisma against the Rascal Flats song on the jukebox. Her voice is loud and raspy: "Give 'em hell, boys!"

Another one of the bar patrons stands up in response, but Betty coughs a bit from the effort.
OOC:
There would be more threats entering soon anyway, but this ability lets her "rouse" neutral people to fight on her behalf, too. 1 strain for her threat.

1 PC is up!

"Sit down and relax..." Max offers up since it looks like he's not going to be getting a burger. Rushing the standing man Max moves to take a Jab on him.
OOC:
Since it's a hit (3+2)/2 round up so 3 stun damage and two setback on his next action. Unsure if he had defense.

Update: I'll aim. So net 1 threat

OOC:
He has Adversary 1 and Melee Defense 2 until the end of his next turn (then it becomes Defense 1), so you'll need to re-roll the second difficulty die and add 2 setbacks.

And I didn't indicate this: Max, Marv, Hank, and Bosko are right by the door. To get to melee range for this guy requires only 1 maneuver to engage, so you potentially can Aim if you're willing to spend the 2 strain.
Apr 2, 2020 6:49 pm
OOC:
Right. 1 strain to Max.
Max's blow lands, but he misjudges the trajectory of the fist, so it strikes a metal stud in the man's jacket—it's painful. The young cop finds himself just shaking off the pain.

The bartender looks at the three people causing the commotion and turns a shader red. "What the hell is your problem! This is a place of business, and Pizazz here is one of my best customers! You take your sorry tail out of here and never come back!"
OOC:
That's 3 strain to Guy. 3 Threat, though. Ideas? Maybe it affects the punk, too?

3 PCs are up!

Pizazz isn't the dude's name but his chihuahua name that he brings to the bar. Giving him mental trauma since she can't remember his name but his dog's name.
Apr 2, 2020 8:13 pm
OOC:
That makes sense to me. After all, the Hugh Hefner fan is the one that decided to get all uppity.

Since we started with Bosko grappled, would you say Hank has an advantageous position over him?
Apr 2, 2020 9:35 pm
"Aww hell nah! You're backing that clown? I think somebody needs to teach you a lesson in customer service!" Seeing somebody swing at Guy and being denied service makes Marv fly into a berserker rage "Denying service based on favoritism is enough to make me freak out!" Marv sprints across the room, knocking tables and chairs over on the way, grabs the big mook who swung at Guy by the collar and launches a knee into his gut!

OOC:
2 strain to take the second maneuver to berserk, which adds automatic success and 2 advantages (not sure how to do that with the roller). So I think total that's 3 successes + 3 dmg from agi + 1 from knee total 7, pierce 2, I'll use the advantage to pass a boost to the next PC from the mayhem Marv caused in running across the diner.

I'd say Hank has a superior position over Bosko, yes.
The vest-wearing tough guy looks confused for a moment. "Pizazz is my dog's na—" Whatever he was going to say, it's gone as he he lurches forward, doubled over with a berserker knee to the belly!
OOC:
Ouch! 2 more PCs!
Apr 3, 2020 8:07 am
After grabbing the punk by the arm, Guy's going to attempt to keep the punk immobilized there by twisting his arm behind his back.
OOC:
Guy is going to try to improve his positioning from Advantageous to Superior. I get two boosts for Advantageous positioning and one from Duelist talent.
OOC:
GM edit: adding setbacks. Final tally is 3 Success, 2 Advantage.

OOC:
So, while you did get an advantageous position over him by succeeding the check, Nez, you didn't actually accumulate any advantage, which is necessary to activate Knockdown. He's essentially in some sort of lock, but not physically on the ground.

Likewise, you didn't generate any advantage, so you weren't able to activate the Disoriented quality. (Most weapon effects aren't automatic and instead need advantage to activate.)

Also, can you add in the difficulty to your roll above? RRP+KK. And boosts/setbacks don't cancel, so go ahead and add in your other boost, as well.

Hank stares wide-eyed at the chaos in the bar as Bosko tries to break his grip. "Calm down, pal. You're squirming like a Jack Russell on the 4th of July. But I guess you better get outta here. Operation Calm Discussion looks like a failure." He releases Bosko, then moves between the fighters and the other patrons and takes a guarded stance. "I'd suggest you folks stay out of this."

"AAARRHH!" Pizazz's human owner screams in pain as Guy grabs the man's tattooed arm and yanks on it—hard. The man's body spins around as the arm is jerked behind his back, pulling against the shoulder and elbow at an unnatural angle.
OOC:
6 damage to him from Guy's attack. You can activate Knockdown for the 2 advantage if you wish (all Brawl weapons have it), or you can use them for something else. Either way, Guy upgrades his Brawl checks against this guy once unless he can free himself from this position.

Ah, right. Thanks.
Bosko blinks in disbelief for a moment. "Uh..." But he doesn't look a gift horse in the mouth. "I'm outta here!" The man sprints toward his truck, presumably to get away from this fracas.

One of the men at the pool table takes his pool cue and points it at Hank by the door. "Don't think the owner wants you here." He grabs the cue in both hands and holds it like a baseball bat. "Now how's 'bout you and these other thugs get the hell out of here!" The cue connects, slapping against Hank's side. That'll leave a welt.
OOC:
6 damage to Hank, minus Soak. He gets automatic 1 Threat on the attack since it's an improvised weapon. Let me know what that 1 Threat does.

Once nezzeraj weighs in on what's going on with the punk (Knocked down or some other use for those 2 advantage?), I finish out the round.
