OOC:
Now that I understand the question fully, feel free to follow up and ask about the masks if you'd like.
Apr 28, 2020 1:24 am
"If you haven't seen Petrovich since you got sprung, how exactly you gettin' your marching orders, bud?" Marv finishes off his Hydrade and tosses the bottle in the direction of a trash can.
Apr 28, 2020 2:38 am
The man snorts into his beer, blowing bubbles as he does. "Some weird Russian dude shows up at a place like this n' orders sliders? It's usually one of Petrovich's guys." He snorts. "But like I said, he's cut us off since the gym. Figger he don't thing we're good nuff no more..."
Apr 28, 2020 2:40 am
Betty seems concerned as Jimmy puts his head down on the bar. "No more for you, Jimmy." She leans forward toward you four. "Look, Jimmy ain't gonna be lucid much longer. We good here? I'm guessing you don't want to call the cops to file a police report about all this mess, and I don't want to either..."
Apr 28, 2020 12:20 pm
Max nods, "For the most part I'd agree, keep in contact with each other and don't go places alone if possible even locking up this place might end up with someone getting knocked out and Jimmy get a call to do something he really doesn't... Also I'll need the keys for his Boss's van. Took less than 24 hours to track Jimmy by the van if the primary owner is on recent disability and the other is a lady, it being stolen and brought back after the fact will point let fingers at Jimmy and his crew that made it away for now. Call if something happens." Max states with a sigh since things in his mind might get worse before they get better before looking to the others.
Apr 28, 2020 4:48 pm
"Yeah, plus, he doesn't look in any shape to drive anyway." Hank nudges Jimmy and says, "Gimme your keys, pal. We'll get the van back home for ya. And speaking of back home, you may wanna make yourself scarce around the Cline place. If Petrovich shows up lookin' for ya, you don't want to be there and get wrapped up in more of his nonsense."
OOC:
Not sure where to go from here. There's Max's contacts at the precinct who could maybe get us more info on Petrovich. That seems safer than going to the prison and potentially confronting him there, but I'm up for whatever.
Apr 28, 2020 5:19 pm
"Well I think we might need to get in contact with an agency from outside of town since this involves organized crime possibly."
Apr 28, 2020 5:42 pm
Grinning Jimmy's eyes open into slits. "Van's in the back," he mutters. "Keysh in the wheel well..."
OOC:
So, all roads lead to this prison guard. You had all flirted with the idea of catfishing him somehow, so that may be an option. Going through law enforcement is possible (but again, one of the givens of this setting is widespread corruption). You have also learned that he works a regular cleanup detail somewhere in the Sticks. And the kidnapping victims are still out there, just not in the first warehouse.
May 3, 2020 4:57 am
Guy motions everyone to gather round near the exit and then speaks softly. "I think we need to lure Petrovich out with a trap. The plan to kidnap Lance failed, and he's angry at Jimmy for failing. We can arrange a meeting where it will be near irresistible for Petrovich to not want to take out two birds with one stone. Whaddya think?"
May 3, 2020 12:30 pm
"Yeah, good call. Otherwise we're tracking him down on his home turf. Plus, the attack one One Two shows he wants to let people know people who cross him get payback. If he has the chance to get them both at once..."

Hank nods absently as a small smile appears on his face. "And when the fox comes for the chickens..." He punches the palm of his hand. "There's us and the Pantones waiting to beat the hell out of the fox."

Hank shrugs as he looks at the others. "Metaphor got away from me there, but you know what I mean."
May 3, 2020 3:09 pm
"I think ol' Jimmy'll do whatever we want after that display. Making Petrovich think he's turning to the other side and beggin' is sure to spark some interest. Might be smart to put the word out somewhere it's sure to get back to Petrovich. Only place I know like that is the prison." The Hydrade has rejuvenated Marv, who's now just rubbing his knuckles to ease some of the bruises out of them, "Either a meeting with a prisoner where we "let is spill" or spreadin' the word among the Hounds is prolly our best bet to get back to Petrovich. You still got a line to Lance, Guy? When he split after the One-Two he didn't exactly leave a forwarding address."

[ +- ] Lance's Office
You all recover the stolen van and return it to its proper owners. They are overjoyed and present you with a pineapple upside-down cake that they had intended to bring to a birthday party that evening.

You take the cake back to Lance's office and find some dishes in the small kitchen. There, you come up with a plan for how to lure Petrovich out on your terms...
OOC:
We'll run this as a montage skill challenge. This is a hard challenge, so here's how it works: You each get to attempt one roll (to start). The goal is to achieve 11 net Successes before you have failed three checks. Don't neglect your Story Points if you need some extra oomph! The tasks below are based on the plan you came up with, but feel free to propose other things your PC might do that would contribute to the over all goal:

1. Spread word that Jimmy is planning to make a move against Petrovich. Maybe the rumor is that he'll be meeting with Lance. Make sure word gets spread to where Petrovich will find out (like the prison).

* Hard (PPP) Streetwise check to spread rumors on the streets. Two setbacks unless you can convince Jimmy and/or Lance to get on board.

* Hard (PPP) Deception check to spread rumors among the police force. Max and Marv would get a boost each on this for being cops or former cops.

* Hard upgraded (RPP) Charm check to convince Lance to get on board and come out of hiding. Two setbacks for going against his motivation to stay out of trouble and keep his business safe.

* Average upgraded Charm check (RP) to convince Jimmy to go along with this scheme. Alternatively, Average Coercion (PP) check. Either gets three setbacks for going against his motivations to stay out of trouble and for making him look weak; however, both get two boosts because he knows you kicked his ass. Other social skills could be used versus Jimmy, too, if you can narrate how.

2. Get the Pantones come along for the ambush.

* Average upgraded (RP) Charm check with three boosts (for your tacit alliance, and for potentially saving Fatima). Other social skills might also work if you prefer.

3. Lure Petrovich somewhere to deal with Jimmy and Lance.

* Hard upgraded (RPP) Deception check with four setbacks (for trying to pull him out where he might be discovered, for general paranoia on his part). Two boosts for Jimmy being on board, two more for Lance being on board.

I'm open to other ideas, too, so feel free to propose them! Then each of you can try some portion of this scheme and narrate how you're going about it. I'll offer further boosts or setbacks depending on what other leverage you may try to employ.
May 7, 2020 2:59 am
Marv enlists Hank and Milly and the two of them head out to where Jimmy's holed up, a slice of pineapple upside down cake in hand.

BANG BANG BANG Marv knocks on the door with the side of a heavy fist, "Jimmy ol' boy, open up! We brought a present for ya!" When Jimmy opens, Marv holds the slice of cake out to him, "Returned that van you borrowed. Y'know, your chica was so thankful she gave us a little thank you gift, and we thought we oughta share the spoils with the real man to blame... er... I mean thank."[b] Marv's smile stops at his mouth, his eyes are narrow and hard. [b]"We had a little offer for ya', me 'n Clank here." He jerks his head toward Hank who he'd asked to stand and look real mean behind him, "We was hopin' you could pay a little more down on your debt to society. [b]"It's time to do a little peace-makin' with our friend Lance. You know... in a public sorta way. We in such a giving mood we're even cool if you let your boys know so you can have a little backup to make sure we're not double crossin'. Isn't that right, Clank?"

Marv looks at Hank with a much more genuine grin and a wink, "Y'know, Clank here didn't want to give you the chance, but I told him... Nah... Jimmy knows better. Jimmy ain't no dummy. He saw how the hard way goes, and it doesn't go too hot for him. Let's just go down and ask, I'm sure he'll be reasonable. So whattaya say, Jimmy, my boy? You cool to come make amends for your choices, or are we gonna have to extract the pound of flesh ourselves?"

Rolls

Coercion

4 Success, 1 Advantage, 4 Threat

Total: 4 Success, 3 Threat

Green die to replace yellow in case I can't spend my 5 XP at the moment.

2 Success

Total: 2 Success

Marv and Hank's threats seem to do the job. From his seat at Betty's counter, the man's eyes widen as he prepares for a beatdown that never comes. Then all that beer hits him, and Jimmy... wets himself. He tries to get up from the counter, but the gang leader can barely stand.

"O—OK..." he stammers. "I'll go." It's goin to take some doing before he's a convincing threat to Petrovich.
OOC:
Excellent first scene! The 3 Threat basically will translate to 3 setbacks on the Deception check versus Petrovich. However, you can try an Average (PP) Medicine check to sober him up, and/or an easy (P) Negotiaton check to find him some cheap clothes to remove those setbacks. Any successes rolled will count toward your total.

Current Total: 4 Successes, 0 Failed Rolls

"Good call, champ. Your rep is on the rebound already, I can tell..." Hank makes to pat Jimmy on the back, then sees the slowly growing puddle underneath him. "Er... tell you what, let's grab you some coffee and a new wardrobe while we're at it."

Cut to a bitchin' fashion montage: Montage tunes!

Hank and Marv are animatedly talking and gesturing while a tailor measures Jimmy in an upscale menswear store. Then they're waiting and look up as Jimmy staggers out of the dressing in a light pink suit with a wide tie and shoulder pads. They shake their heads and turn him back around. He staggers back out in a cowboy hat and string tie. They shake their heads and turn him back around. Finally, he staggers back out in a fashionable suit. They look at each other and high five. A nearby employee smiles, then reads them the price off the tag. Hank and Marv's eyes go wide, and Jimmy rushes back into the dressing room looking like he's going to vomit.

Cut to a big box store where they're sifting through opposite sides of the clearance rack while Jimmy snores leaning against a wall. Marv pulls out a pair of lime green shorts, and Hank pulls out a pair of faded jeans. They look at the price tags, then across at each other and shrug.

Final cut to Jimmy weaving his way out of the store behind them wearing the lime green shorts as they walk toward Millie.
OOC:
I'd like to put those advantages toward boosts in the next skill checks if possible. In story, having Jimmy in the backseat of the car while we talk to the Pantones would help convince them the plan may work. (Or if someone else wants to use them before I try for that roll, feel free.)

Jimmy finally stirs in the backseat and seems to be coming to his senses. "What's happening? Is this real life?"
OOC:
Great! So you have Jimmy on board, clean and sober. (I'll still allow a Medicine check if someone wants to try to maybe make sure he stays that way.)

nezzeraj, what is Guy's move in all this?

Remnant's still on limited posting, it seems. If no word from him by the weekend, I'll let you all decide what Max might do.

Current total: 5 Successes, 0 failed rolls.

OOC:
Oh, I just meant that Remnant has posted a tad this week, but not as much as usual. I'm guessing things have gotten busy for him IRL.

"I'll go spread the word about the meeting. Seeing as how I wasn't involved with the kidnapping stuff I should be either an unknown factor or a neutral third party."
OOC:
Just let me know what I should be rolling and I'll go ahead and do it.

OOC:
Seems we could break this task down a bit if you want. Let me know what part of town you're targeting (Pillsville? The Sticks? The Dojo District? Etc.). Each one will be a Hard (PPP) Streetwise check. No setbacks if you just say it's Jimmy who wants to meet up. Add a setback if you want to suggest Lance does, too, since he's been lying low. (Or save that for a second check later on if Lance can be brought on board.)
May 11, 2020 12:25 pm
OOC:
Ok I'll wait to see if Lance is convinced to actually by a apart of it and I won't have to lie about it lol. I'll do the Dojo District first when I do attempt it.
