OOC:
Springing the trap works for me. Although they would be suspicious if they noticed the trap was intentionally set so that might botch the whole deal?
Jun 18, 2020 11:41 am
OOC:
Agreed. I'm not sure that springing the trap now is what we want, since we're not striking yet. Maybe they're wary of it, but we can explain it away as some work that's being done on the gym. Thus there's still a chance we could maneuver people into it later, but Petrovich won't be trying to come in the back door and get caught by it immediately. Unless someone has other ideas?
Seeing the men exchange a glance at the bucket over the back door, Hank says, "Oh, yeah. Uh, excuse the mess back there. We had some damage to the door last week, so I've been doing some work on it. Just your basic epoxy mixture, and it's, uh... curing for a few days before the reinforcing bolts are fully secure in the frame. Concrete is still pretty solid back there, but had to fill in a couple cracks and gaps in the mortar. I tell ya, humidity off the water here is murder on these old buildings, not to mention my old bones. In fact, last summer..."

Hank rambles on, hoping his friendly yokel act gets them to lose interest rather than investigate further.
Jun 19, 2020 1:03 am
The two men seem satisfied with Hank's explanation. "We will just tell Mr. Petrovich to avoid back door," one of them says.

The other man pulls a cell phone from his pocket and presses a button, putting it to his ear. He says something in the same Slavic language before putting it away. "Mr. Petrovich will be here in moment."
Jun 19, 2020 1:05 am
Up on the roof, minutes seem like hours. Marv tries to keep busy by playing Snake and Mine Sweeper on his phone. Finally, he gets a text from Tasha: "Black van headed ur way. Dark windows. Big enough for eight or nine guys prolly."
OOC:
We'll have the van people arrive when I post next, but I wanted to leave you one more chance to do anything you'd like to do before that point. If no one's posted by tomorrow morning, I'll advance.
Jun 20, 2020 1:55 am
Sure enough, Marv hears a large vehicle pull up outside the front entrance. A door creaks open, and the sound of boots scuffling on the pavement is followed by a closing door and footsteps toward the gym.

Inside, the door buzzer buzzes yet again.
Jun 21, 2020 12:58 pm
Marv sneaks to the side of the building and looks down stealthily, trying to get a count of how many, and how big the group are. Van just unloaded out front, guys, taking as peek on the contents now. He texts.
Jun 21, 2020 1:33 pm
Hank tucks the cattle prod into the back of his pants under his jacket. "Well, folks. It's showtime." He nods to the others as he walks to the front door and takes a moment to calm his breathing. One. Two. One. Two. Steady like the tide.

Then he opens his eyes and presses the SPEAK button. "Who is it?"
Jun 21, 2020 5:38 pm
OOC:
Marv can try Stealth vs. RR, add a boost for the elevation. That'll let you get a visual on how many folks we're talking about.
A voice comes back over the intercom. "Is Victor Petrovich. Who you think?"
Jun 21, 2020 11:38 pm
Marv leans over the edge, trying to stay out of the light.
OOC:
I'll pass boost(s) with that advantage.

All Marv sees is a single figure matching the description of the man seen on the Halloween store's security footage. The van seems to be idling across the street.
Jun 22, 2020 7:31 pm
Only see the one guy, looks like Victor might be alone... At least outside the van. Marv listens to hear if the van is still running, then scuttles around the perimeter, checking to see if the building is being surrounded.
Jun 22, 2020 7:44 pm
The area around the building seems clear. If this guy has backup, they're likely still in the van. The man buzzes the front again. "So, you let me in, or was this huge waste of time?"
Jun 22, 2020 9:16 pm
Hank unlocks the door and swings it open. "Heya, Vic. Sorry about the paranoia. Girl Scouts have been getting bold these days, never know where they're gonna show up next. Gonna have to pat you down, I'm sure you understand. No telling who's packing cookies in our fallen times."
OOC:
Rolling average Perception based on Max's earlier. If it needs to be higher feel free to edit or I can reroll.
OOC:

Let's say the threat is that the pat down takes a little longer than it would have if Hank had been more used to such things.
Petrovich submits to the patdown, but he doesn't seem to like it. "Is this real necessary?" he complains. He groans and sighs each time Hank moves to a different body part. The annoyance actually delays the patdown by a few minutes. If there is an ambush planned, the ambushers likely used that time for something.

"Is done, yeah? Now I want to talk to this Lance Mikowski."
Jun 23, 2020 12:48 am
"Hey, sure thing, my man." Hank steps aside and allows Petrovich in, keeping an eye out and closing the door quickly behind to avoid tailgaters.

"Hey boss! Somebody to see you! You know a Victor Pepperitch?" Hank winks at Max after locking the door behind them.
Jun 24, 2020 2:11 am
Petrovich doesn't seem to notice the insult, or at least he doesn't react to it. He follows Hank into the gymnasium proper and nods at both of his associates. Then he lays eyes on Jimmy, still seated on a weight bench, and Lance, pacing on the boxing ring. "Ah, my friends are here! Lance Mikowski and James McCoy, a.k.a. Grinning Jimmy, right? It is pleasure to see you both again. When was the last time we saw each other? Was work detail, yes, when you both ran away to escape?"
Jun 24, 2020 2:17 am
OOC:
So, I've inadvertently gotten myself into GM no-no territory: A bunch of NPCs talking to themselves. You'll need to take over, as you are the ones who lured Petrovich here! Marv and Guy are welcome to come join the group, or they can stay hidden for now if they please.
Lance just glares at Petrovich before spitting out, "I've got nothing to say to you."
Jun 24, 2020 2:28 am
Marv watches the van with interest, keeping an ear out to try and make out any conversation from inside.
Jun 24, 2020 12:24 pm
OOC:
I don't mind NPCs talking to each other in PbP because it's more like reading a story as it doesn't take up actual in game time. As for Guy, I will stay hidden but move into the hallway and stopping at the intersection that leads into the gym area.

OOC:
Well, I also don't know what your plan is for Petrovich, so the ball's in y'alls court. :)

As for Guy moving forward: Give me a Stealth check vs. RR+Black. Take 2 Blues for the fact that Hank and Max are there to keep them fixed on the conversation.
