Ah, ok. So then I'd be in an advantageous position, and it does Brawn+Success damage, right? If so, that's 6 damage before soak (even after the red). And the change from a threat to a failure makes it just 2 successes with no threats.

OOC:
No, he had you in advantageous position, so now you're back to neutral. Then, yeah, Brawl + Success for damage. The 1 Threat remains, as it's a special ability of Petrovich.

Wait, but I rolled 5 Adv, 5 Threats. So if he rolled one less threat, then I'd have 1 Advantage. Which is negated by Petrovich's ability, meaning a total wash on Advantages and Threats. Unless I miscounted...

OOC:
Ah, gotcha. Yeah, final roll ends up 2 success 1 advantage, and his special ability adds 1 threat that negates the advantage. Final total is 2 success. The re-roll confused me. :)

Is this the guy with the bum shoulder or was that the guy that failed to get all handsy.

OOC:
We can say the one who missed is the one with the pulled muscle. There's no game effect of the pulled shoulder, mind you; that was just a bit of circumstantial evidence to alert Max that this guy seems to have been herding people around.

Max and Marv are up! If Max uses a maneuver to give a command, he can have his pup take a turn, too.

Marv grips the rope and wraps it to prepare himself for a rapid descent, "Don't think about last time." He says to himself. He steps up to the edge of the skylight and looks down, his vision swims, "It's not gonna be like last time." He takes a leap and repels down as best as he's able to. "You boys haven't been naughty have you? 'Cause Santa's here!!!" He aims for right next to Petrovich and Hank.

Eskaton, give me an easy upgraded Athletics or Coordination check (R).

Then Max gets his go!

doomed! If it's not too big a spend maybe I get tangled in the rope and dangle instead of die for the advantage?

Coordination

1 Success, 2 Advantage, 2 Failure

Total: 1 Failure, 2 Advantage

OOC:
I'll wait for the results before I go but dang thinking about what might happen stirs up my gut if that was a real situation.

Marv makes it about halfway down the rope when he finds that he's overestimated his momentum. The rope burns his palms as he finds himself not rappelling but, well, plummeting.
OOC:
Yeah, 2 advantage can bring your predicament to Max's attention. He still has a go, so he can try to break your fall with an Average upgraded (RP) Athletics check. The upshot is that if he succeeds, you avoid falling damage. If he fails, it's 10 wounds and 10 strain, but soak does apply.

OOC:
Whatever happens, do not worry. Marv knows that he has lived for he went to THA X-TREME! Real talk, playing RPG characters who do dangerous stuff I'd never do is what makes things fun (tm).

OOC:
Absolutely! Rule of cool, for sure. And failing can lead to even more extremes: Bruce Willis took a lot of damage in Die Hard while killing all the baddies.

"Mr. Mikowski I'm detaining you and Jimmy if people try to use lethal force defend yourself." Max states before seeing Marv and having flashbacks. "Duke little help." Max his eyes darting from Marv to Duke to the person trying to punch him.
OOC:
What do I need to do to roll for Duke and myself to get a big landing point for Marv aka Pet's back or stomach by way of nonvoluntary dragging possibly.
Jul 21, 2020 5:43 pm
OOC:
If you want Duke to try to break Marv's fall, you just need to expend a maneuver to give him that command. I'll add another upgrade if Duke is to do this, though, since he's only Silhouette 0. So he rolls RR to stop Marv's fall. Upshot of this approach is Max still gets his full turn (minus the maneuver to command Duke).

Alternatively, you could sacrifice Duke's turn to get a skilled assist from him, as dogs get Athletics 1. This would represent him snapping and growling at the bad guys to give Max more room to maneuver under the falling Marv, but it would be Max's roll rather than Duke's, so no auto-upgrade (so just upgraded average difficulty: RP).

OOC:
I wanted to try and drag Petro over to use as the cushion was what I was asking since he's still a threat and isn't really going to wait for me to focus before another sucker punch.
Jul 22, 2020 12:32 pm
OOC:
OK, that'll be a tall order: Grappling vs. Grappling, so RRRRR difficulty with the upgrade. You can move him where you want him for a Triumph or 3 advantage.
Jul 22, 2020 3:50 pm
OOC:
K well I know my options now but I think this changes my thought pathing in the scene. Going for the save and waiting for the next sucker punch.
Max tries to get the timing down to make sure Mr. Collisto doesn't rack up another concussion with help from Duke.

Princess catch attempt Upgraded Avg Ath Check

2 Success, 1 Advantage, 1 Failure, 1 Threat

Total: 1 Success

Jul 23, 2020 1:51 am
Princess keeps Petrovich and his goons at bay, widening a circle for Max to maneuver. The rookie cop positions himself as best he can under his falling comrade, bounces on his haunches, and then catches the man in his arms!
OOC:
OK, so no rules for this, but makes sense that catching someone falling from eight feet up would require a roll to stay on your feet. Can both of you give me an Easy (P) Coordination check as an out-of-turn incidental?
Meanwhile, Jimmy makes a break for the back door to the gym. He carefully sidesteps the trap there and flings the door open, only to close it right back, holding his barbell at the ready. "So... Cops coming in the back way..."
OOC:
Last enemy slot was someone out of sight doing something out of sight. Jimmy's go is to run to the back door but then right back in. One PC is up. Also, need incidental Coordination checks from Max and Marv.

"Shit! How could I have missed a parked van?!" Guy shouts, losing his cool. "Screw the third time, let's hope the second time's the charm!" He throws his car into reverse, speeds off the curb and tries again.
