Rolls.
I don't skip leg day. Max mentally reminds himself as he feels his thighs burning.
OOC:
I'll use the adv for strain recover since I'm feeling like a hero... no kiss from Marv please.

Staying on my toes

OOC:
Nezzeraj, you aiming for the van or the people who got out of it? Four folks got out and surrounded you. Same difficulty to hit them, but I wanted to make sure first.
Jul 24, 2020 12:20 pm
OOC:
Oh right, forget about that part lol. We'll say yeah aiming for the people surrounding me.
Jul 25, 2020 12:47 am
OOC:
So, there are no rules for vehicle-on-minion violence (yet), so I checked around. One school of thought is to treat vehicle hits as you would falling damage, with the speed of the vehicle = the number of range bands "fallen" (10 wounds per band). The other school says to use the normal collision rules, meaning both the vehicle and the target take a crit, but if the vehicle is significantly bigger (like in this case), the vehicle doesn't take the crit.

In this case, auto-crit is going to do you more than straight damage at this slow speed, so we'll go with that. If you were to get up to a higher speed, you'd be better off with sheer damage. I'll err in favor of the PC in either case.
Thump... thump... As Guy backs up off the curb, he sees that he's left one of the four police officers down for the count with some tire marks.
OOC:
I know it's my go for tons of guys. Will have to try to do this tomorrow. We're headed back home from vacation, so need to sign off for now!
OOC:
Oh, also need Marv's Coordination check!
Jul 25, 2020 12:43 pm
OOC:
Let's hope Marv is like a cat.

Rolls

Coordination

1 Success, 1 Threat

Total: 1 Success, 1 Threat

Jul 27, 2020 12:35 am
OOC:
Marv gets a setback to his next check to represent his awkward footing.
Against all odds, Max positions himself perfectly under his falling companion and catches him in his arms! Marv springs back to his feet, a bit dazed, but otherwise ready to face off against Petrovich and his goons.

Jimmy wasn't BSing: The back door to the gym flies open, and four riot-gear-clad cops storm in the front door. The soap-and-water trap springs into action and lands all over the floor and the pants of the first cop through the door. The splash catches Jimmy, too, who curses, but the upshot is the trap has worked. Those cops will have a harder time getting through the hallway. In fact, they stop just inside the doorway, as they're unable to fully enter the building yet.

A loud bang suggests that the locked front door won't hold much longer, meaning more reinforcements are likely to come in that way.
OOC:
GM edit: That yellow was supposed to be red. Replacing it. Final is 3 Failure, 1 Advantage. The soap-and-water trap works! The back hallway is considered difficulty terrain (double maneuvers to move through it, setback to all Brawn and Agility checks). But they got 1 advantage, so it will affect Jimmy, too, but only for his first turn.

Still regaining his own feet after missing a grapple with Hank, one of Petrovich's enforcers barrels toward Marv, intent on wrestling the man to the ground.

The second enforcer pushes his head into Hank's torso and tries to knock the large man to the ground. After more grappling and grunting, the two men are right back where they started.
OOC:
First enforcer disengages Hank and engages with Marv. Second tries another Grapple check on Hank. He gets +1 advantage from Petrovich, but that still means a failure. Advantage will give him a boost next time.

Back outside, the three remaining cops seem shocked at one of their own being run over by Guy's sedan. They rush behind their surveillance van and take cover between the van and the wall of a nearby building.
OOC:
OK, that's 3 PCs' turn. Go!

Max grits his teeth since he doesn't want to drop Marv like a rucksack on the ground and takes the kick to the back.

"You really like hitting cops." Max exhales.
Jul 27, 2020 3:48 pm
As the man barrels into Hank's chest, he pivots and makes a little space between them, snaking his hand out and punching for the side of the man's head.
OOC:
Spending a maneuver to disengage, then just your basic old-fashioned punch to the temple. If it was good enough for Granny Rodrigo, it's good enough for Hank. Increasing the difficulty to make that punch a Painful Blow.

Dang. Well, I'll use those advantages to heal some strain.

Granny's One-Hand Wallop (Punch - Painful Blow)

BOOST!

Total: 1 Advantage

OOC:
So, difficulty to use Brawl (Striking) on the enforcers is just RP (Average upgraded for Adversary 1). We can ignore that 2 failure from the second purple there, which bring you to 0 Success, 3 Advantage. BUT, you can't disengage if you want to keep striking this guy. (In essence, you were at a neutral position grappling with him, and in my mind, that just means you're plain-vanilla engaged with him still). But you have to be engaged with a target to use Grappling, Striking, or Melee. In short, you can't disengage if you want to keep fighting him, so you still have a maneuver to use. Want to add a boost die to that for an Aim? Might push you into success territory.
Jul 27, 2020 7:26 pm
OOC:
Good call. And it was worth a shot. Either way, that's something. I'll use the extra strain to give myself a boost next time.
Jul 27, 2020 7:53 pm
Hank feels air and hears the swish of air as the man weaves out of the way just in time.
OOC:
Oh, sorry. I missed the part where you increased the difficulty to make it a Painful Blow. OK, roll stands as is: 4 advantage. So, +3 strain for Hank, and +1 boost next check he makes.

Another PC is up!
Jul 28, 2020 1:17 pm
OOC:
Bump! Max & Marv, you're up!
Jul 29, 2020 11:41 am
Marv flashes Max a thumbs up, "Nice catch, kid!" He says as Victor winds up and kicks Max. "Hey! Buddy!" Marv's smile turns into a snarl and he points to Petrovich, "Ain't nobody kick my boy and get to walk away with the legs that did it!"

The veins pop out on his neck and forehead, an artery pulsing at his temple as his face turns read. Two quick steps and he's engaged with Petrovich, leaping off one foot with his other knee extended out in front, "Eat teeth, scumbag! Your own flavored!"
OOC:
one maneuver to berserk, one maneuver to engage, then a knee which is pierce 2. With the berserk bonus it's 1 success 4 adv, for 5 damage 2 pierce before soak and I'll spend the 4 adv to crit.

His "Charismatic Menace" ability adds +1 auto-threat to checks on him, so no crit. But the damage gets through! 4 advantage left to spend. More narrative update soon.

Weird note below is me keeping track of wounds, strain, etc.

OOC:
Ah, OK, I think that brings my total advantage to 3 not 4. I'll use it to spend 2 to activate the knockdown quality and 1 to pass a boost to the next ally. Get 'im Max!
Jul 30, 2020 1:07 am
Marv's knee finds Petrovich's crotch. The shit-eating grin is quickly replaced by a google-eyed grimace as the man sinks to his knees in pain. Nearby, Max finds himself with a bit more room to maneuver with the big man on his feet.
OOC:
Max is up!

"You're under arrest for repeatedly hitting law enforcement with sucker punches." Max states pointing. "Duke Detain!" Max orders before moving in.
OOC:
Duke moving in using Flanking rule gets upgraded, With two already on Petrovich I get the max upgrade of 2 I believe.

Update so Duke 4 threat. For the Triumph Duke's actions void Petrovich's Defense until end of round.
Update 2 so Max 1 success 2 adv so lets give Petrovich a setback die and 4 damage presoak.
