That's pretty lucky, because I kinda created a warrior-type as well >_> although my idea is for him to be more of a ranged attacker

Sassafras says:
If I buy a javelin as a ranged weapon, would that literally only be one javelin per 150 gold? Or how does that work?
No, you have "unlimited" javelins for 150. HOWEVER, I have the ability to spend Despair (or Story Points) to make you run out of them. Please note the "Prepare 1" quality though...

The way to tell if an item is "expendable"/bought on a per-unit basis is the "Limited Ammo" quality on the item.

As for the Encumbrance of worn armor, it decreases it by 3, to a minimum of 0. p. 92 of the core.

Awesome. Can I counteract that with a quiver? Or what is the purpose of the quiver?

And "prepare 1" means that it takes a turn to prepare?

Yes, that's what a quiver is for.

And Prepare 1 means it requires you to spend a Maneuver to prepare the attack before you may use it (you have 1 Maneuver, and 1 Action every round, for free, you can get a second Maneuver in a round for 2 Strain - for if you wanted to also move or Aim or heal or something).

Also, please note, everyone, particularly the gear/weapons and armor is all a work in progress. I may be re-configuring various equipments stats as we go. So please give me feedback on what is/not working.

Well the Field Engineer I am planning on making would also be a fighter type as well just not a dedicated one. I mean eventually the some of enemy sometimes gets to the war machine and it has to be abandoned in favor or more direct means of combat.

Hey gang, it looks like I forgot to mention, after you choose your 8 Career Skills, you get 4 ranks to distribute amongst them for free.

Eskaton, your PC looks good, though I did want to mention just to avoid any confusion down the road, it's fine to skin your dagger and shortsword as climbing axes, but they will not grant you any mechanical benefit in a climbing action.

Sass, given the free Skill ranks, I think you still have some XP to spend, and just to make sure, you did notice the free rank in Coordination from Gymnast right?

ALSO, I do still want/intend to call out/link some free community resources that you guys are free to use in Character Creation (in addition to any applicable Talents from any of the published books). Just haven't gotten around to found it yet...

Yeah, not meant to provide any mechanical climbing advantage (I have the climbing kit for that), all flavor town!

So what might the group need at this point -- I can fill any gaps that might be needed but not sure what the group will need to round it out to be a effective unit... I would guess this would be a emsquared question mostly as they have the plan of what we will be doing but I am open to ideas from anyone and all

Also I am perfectly fine filling just about any gap or shoring up any weak spots that might currently be present. I am here to experience GeneSys as a player as opposed to GMing it

Right, so, I saw the gameplay in this game revolving around 3 main "types" of characters.

1. Brawny fighter type

2. Agile ranged/sneaky type

3. "Charismatic"/Face type

There are mechanically two approaches to Brawny fighter-types tho, Melee Heavy and Light.

So we should have "room" for 4 types of PCs (Intellect just isn't gonna be a big enough thing to be it's own type in this setting).

Eskaton is certifiably Melee Light.

Sass is a mix Ranged, Melee L.

I think crazybird was looking at the face/knowledge type.

So there's no Melee Heavy yet. Also something I'm just realizing is I do want a "mobile"/horse-riding type to be a a viable play style and I don't have any of the horse "equipment" priced/statted to support that...

But anyway, Melee Heavy, or even a more-specialized Agile/Ranged type, look to be both viable "gaps" at this point. But really, depending on what exactly crazy does with their performer, you may be able to take just the alternate angle on any of the 3 main types that you want.

I'm definitely looking to go face character. Looks like 3CU/4PR right now. I'll have him up for approval sometime tonight.
Apr 3, 2020 12:21 am
What do you mean by Melee Heavy exactly ?
Apr 3, 2020 12:28 am
The Melee (Heavy) Skill.

Some melee weapons use (Heavy) some use (Light).
Apr 3, 2020 1:09 am
Ah okay Heavy Weapons got it...

Yeah I added the free rank there. I've amended it now, cheers

I submitted my character. Used all my XP to boost characteristics, so I'll worry about a talent sheet later.
Apr 3, 2020 2:36 pm
Ah, great, those are the easiest ones to review!

Looks good, cbm.

Okay will be working on Mounted Melee Heavy as that appeared to be the biggest gap not filled -- would a Chariot be available??

No, there will be a horse.

Ok, I apologize folks, but just got through a pretty major Equipment list overhaul...

Tried to refine and hone play-styles centering around weapons to be more unique and hopefully interesting, made Shields and thrown Ranged weapons (sorry, Sass, javelins are now Limited Ammo - but they're not necessarily "expended"/you can retrieve them) more consistent with default Genesys/Terrinoth approaches (shields are now only listed in Weapons), added a horse... basically did a bunch of stuff including some price altering.

I'm sure some of you could get away with just checking to see if any of your weapon stats have changed, but I'd recommend just completely redoing your gear...

VERY SORRY for this gang!! I was anticipating going through some play-testing before redoing gear, but was noticing too much stuff "wrong" and had to take another pass.

Thanks for putting in the work that you already have! After this, I'll be typing up the Story Thread and we can begin play as soon as this weekend (not required) or Monday!

Got it no Chariots -- just a horse ;) will try to have something up by tomorrow evening at the latest
