@Emberskyes - In Fate you never roll more than 4 dice. The +Skill adds to the total at the end. When you click Advanced to add your roll you will see a drop down that defaults to 'basics but has Fate as an option. In the "reason" section, note the Action, skill, and the bonus...like "Attack Fight +4" or "Defend Athletics +1" or whatever your sheet says. Unfortunately we can't add the bonus to the reults on this sight. Probably the way the 'plus, minus, neutral" results were programmed, but with the Reasons section filled in, we will be able to do simple math while reading the post.
As for redirecting the direction of the ball, that is something you can do...turn the attack back on someone else...if you beat my roll. In this case you are looking for a 5 or better. You have one Fate Point that can either add +2 to your roll, or let you reroll the dice after you know your result. So you can always save that resource until you know your best option. Don't worry about it until you see your results. Also, Mathematically speaking, it usually only pays to reroll when the dice come up with negative results of -2 or less, if you get a +2 or better,, the +2 per Fate Point is more economicaly sound. But dice are a game of chance, so it's your call.
