The man answers, speaking a bit to fast but you pick up the important words

"Battle ... East... Unconscious... Corpse eater... Crawled away... Here.
Jun 4, 2020 2:12 pm
When the others return from their patrols, Lucian asks for their input before making a decision on their next move.
Jun 4, 2020 2:57 pm
From what Guts learned from the man, I think east, towards that battlefield could holds clues to what or who we seek.
Jun 5, 2020 5:24 am
"No Psi-presence. He seems to be clear. If we wish to go the direction the man suggests, then we go. I am curious.. Corpse Eater?"

OOC:
forbidden lore, xenos....

Rolls

Forbidden Lore, Xenos 40 (Guts) - (1d100)

(40) = 40

Forbidden Lore, Xenos 48 (Mykhaal) - (1d100)

(65) = 65

Guts mentions that it could refer to a Malanthrope, a recently discovered genus of tyranid with an apparent fonction of finding specific genetic information from fallen warriors to reinforce the Hive.

If it is the case, Malanthrope have been flagged as high priority soft targets with a standing order to kill them on sight with extreme prejudice.
Jun 5, 2020 8:44 pm
Like Mykhaal said, East. And if we see that corpse eater, we'll have to kill it...
OOC:
Guts relays what he knows to the group.
Jun 6, 2020 9:11 am
"That now a secondary objective, Commander?" Bannus asks the squad leader as he prepares his equipment to move out.
Jun 6, 2020 11:27 am
"East it is. I loathe leaving this man as given time to recover, he may be able to reveal much. Let's leave him water and food, and we can come back later. Squad, move out."

Lucian organises the squad to move forward again, scouts ahead, the others staggered in supporting formation.

The team moves back toward the rocky wasteland they spotted earlier in the east.

Moving carefully, you spot a massive creature floating slowly in the fog. It is indeed the mysterious Malanthrope. It is oblivious to your presence and you can choose your engagement method and range.

Guts will try to find a good vantage point where he'll be able to provide good cover fire to the team.
Jun 10, 2020 11:01 am
Mykhaal will wait for the team leader's order to engage the creature...
Jun 10, 2020 2:23 pm
Snarling in hatred and disgust at the Tyrranid abomination, Bannus digs his feet in and aims his bolter at the horror, waiting for the Killteam's leader orders to unleash righteous fury upon it.
OOC:
Not sure if relative to bring up now or once combat begins, but going for Solo Mode and looking to use the Iron Hands' "Suffer no Weakness" ability, giving Bannus the Hatred talent and a +2 damage bonus (one-half of his unmodified Intelligence Bonus) against the Malanthrope
Jun 10, 2020 2:45 pm
Lucian orders the group to spread out in teams of two. "Watch for an offense that covers an area, and if so, ahead further. On my mark, simultaneous crossfire. Remember our Oath."

OOC:
@Dark Raider Stating changes in Solo and Squad mode is indeed relevant. It can have an impact both in and out of combat.
Their is some limited elevation and plenty of cover from the broken rocky terrain.

Please describe you pairing and position and roll your actions!

It is your turn to act!
Jun 10, 2020 11:42 pm
Guts and Mykhaal positions themselves just under 150m from the target. Mykhaal finds himself a rock big enough to give him some cover and allowing him to brace his heavy bolter on it. Guts gets some higher ground and lies down in sniping position, hidden with his cameleoline cloak. Both are taking full aims while the rest of the party gets into position...
OOC:
Guts: Using his Stalker Boltgun with Kraken rounds. (Accurate, Tearing and Felling from master of arms)

Mykhaal: Using his Heavy Bolter with Hellfire rounds. (Tearing)
Jun 11, 2020 1:56 pm
Ragnar will pair up with one of the others, likely with Lucien as the two Librarians can do a fair bit of damage with their abilities alone. Or with Blade and Bolter. He'd get into 90 meters of the beast and will be ready to unleash a smite on it the moment the others open fire.

Rolls

Smite! (Unfettered, WP is 48) - (1D100)

(19) = 19

Smite Damage (PR3) - (3D10)

(181) = 10

Jun 11, 2020 2:09 pm
That leaves Cloten and Brannus to team up.

Cloten readies his bolter with hellfire rounds. He suggests they move to a 90 degree angle from the others.

OOC:
Don't forget to roll your attack and damage. The massive size give a +30 to BS (all bonus aim, full auto size oath etc, stack with a cap at +60).
Jun 12, 2020 3:30 am
Oath of Knowledge: +10 BS
Full auto: +20 BS
Hellfire rounds: Effects: The weapon ignores Natural Armour and may inflict Righteous Fury on any damage die results of a 9 or 10. In addition, the weapon gains the Tearing Quality (if it did not already possess it).
