Character Creation
I would be interested in playing a Elf with a Rangerish Skill set. GM, concerning Generating Characteristics. A Elf has 3d6 for Strength, but 2d6+6 for all other 6 Characteristics. Would it be possible to take the results of those 6 rolls and place them in whichever of those 6 Characteristics that the Player desires?
STR 12
CON 12
DEX 13
SIZE 15
INT 12
POW 8
CHA 11
Rolls
STR - (3d6)
(126) = 9
CON - (3d6)
(354) = 12
DEX - (3d6)
(414) = 9
Size - (2d6+6)
(36) + 6 = 15
INT - (2d6+6)
(42) + 6 = 12
POW - (3d6)
(224) = 8
CHA - (3d6)
(434) = 11
Reroll 1 in STR - (1d6)
(4) = 4
Reroll 1 in DEX - (1d6)
(5) = 5
@ TheVagrant: Remember that you always re-roll your 1s during character creation. Edit: Oh, never mind, I noticed this is what you did. I'll leave my previous message there anyways as this is something which is important for other players to know.
Rolls
Strength- 3d6
(6,41)=11
Constition-3d6
(5,2,6)=13
Dexterity-3d6
(4,4,5)=13
Size- 2d6+6
(4,4)+6=14
Intelligence- 2d6+6
(4,6)+6=16
Power-3d6
(1,2,5)=8
Charisma-3d6
(4,5,4)=13
points for extra background points. The first
background point gained this way will cost the
character 10 skill points, the second will cost 20
points, the third 30 points, and so on (so 3 extra
background points will cost a total of 60 skill points).
So GM, there is no way to swap his Dexterity score for say his Charisma score?
Rolls
Strength - (3d6)
(664) = 16
Constition - (2d6+6)
(36) + 6 = 15
Dexterity - (2d6+6)
(43) + 6 = 13
Size - (2d6+6)
(56) + 6 = 17
Intelligence - (2d6+6)
(56) + 6 = 17
Power - (2d6+6)
(46) + 6 = 16
Charima - (2d6+6)
(56) + 6 = 17
Edit: Looking at the character sheet, I see that Ranged Combat is based off DEX+INT. Thanks to your INT, you'll still have a nice Ranged Attack score. So your ranger built is still very much possible.
So what is everyone going to use for a Character Sheet? This how I plan to do it. I use the 'Snipping Tool' copy and paste the two CS images that are below. Which were taken from pdf of the copy of the TAoS Rulebook that I have. Pasting them into 'Paint'. I used Imgur to get to create a URL for such images so they can be used here. Use the 'Text' feature to fill it out in 'Paint'. Then post it as image into the Custom Character Sheet that you will use for the game. When you need to make changes to the CS. Do it to your copy in 'Paint'. Then swap the updated image for the out of date one.

Like monster slaying (most fearsome creature), giant slaying (creature with 20+size) or demon-slaying (demon type only)?
Given the lack of talents, i'm thinking of a focused melee build aiming to wait for the right opportunity to fell the mightiest monsters (the next demon king in his wildest dreams :P), so maximising a charge attack with a 2h weapon with crits from oath points.

I didn't find any musical instruments in the equipment list but it would suit my character to have a lute possibly. Can I just assume I have one?

Musical instrument 2 ENC, 70 BV
@ wulfnor: Interesting solution for the character sheet. However, the normal character sheet is missing a piece of information which could be important for players to note, which is the Critical threshold of skills. Basically, if you roll equal to or less than 10% of your skill, rounded up to the nearest whole number, this is a critical roll. For example, someone with a skill of 67% would roll a critical on a 7 or less (10% of 67 = 6.7, rounded up to 7). I feel it might be an important piece of information for players to note.
Ah, yes, sorry, a +1 to 1 characteristic would cost 3 Background Point... Okay, well everything looks fine. All that is left to do is spend your skill oints (remember, max of 30 skill point assigned to any single skill, and everyone gets a +20 to the Elvish language as it is the setting's Common tongue), and purchase your gear...
@ bowlofsinach: Hmm, that's odd. There is a musical instrument listed in the General Items table on p.25. It is between "Mining pick" and "Oil, flask". It is 2 ENC and 70 BV. Other than that, seems like you're left spending your skill points and purchassing the rest of your stuff. cool.
Edit: Oh, checked your submitted sheets and looks like you pretty much already took care of all of that. Just one thing: bowlofspinach, your CON+SIZ would be 24, thus your HP would be 12 and Major Wound Level 6.

I think you need to look closer. I already spent all the Skill Points in each area. That is why he has a Deception Skill of 63, Perception Skill of 63, Ranged Combat Skill of 61, etc. The amount spent is listed in the far right portion of where the name of the Skill is listed.
I have a question pertaining to Equipment, On Page 25 of the Rulebook there is the following listed in the Table 4.4 General Items
Item ENC BV
Climbing kit 1 25
Which is described with the following: A climbing kit provides a bonus of +25% to any Athletics skill tests made to climb
So is it assumed a;
Grappling hook - 5
and
Rope, 10m 2 10
are included in the Climbing Kit? Or do I need to buy them separately?
As far as my PC's Background. I have decided that he will be from Erad Thrand. Well not from city itself. But within it's sphere of influence their in the southeastern portion of the Great Forest.
Erad Thrand
Region: Enerath
Current Ruler: Aladron
Erad Thrand is home to the Erad-Elroth (though that name is sometimes given to any of the elves that dwell within the great forest) and Aladron, their lord. Of all the elves, the Erad-Elroth produce the finest bowmen and hunters, though they are perhaps the least learned in matters of lore. The city itself boasts many fair houses about the bases of tall oaks, and not a few amid the bows of the great trees themselves. Though the greatest building of them all, if building it be, is the magnificent hall from which the city takes its name - Elthrandon, with its walls of living wood, and high domed roof of intertwined branches and bright leaves of autumn gold.
So at which location is the game starting at. Are the PCs presume to already know each other and have traveled there together. Or has each PC arrived their alone and will be forming a Party there?
As for where I'm going to start the campaign, I haven't decided yet. I think I'll start with a published adventure to see how they handle encounters since combat is so deadly. I think this will be a better solution than me making my own adventure which will accidentally TPK the whole group... Once I feel like I have a grasp of the system, I might start making my own adventures.
