Orc Raid

OOC:
Hey guys, this is a 7th level playtest! i've decided that I'm going to keep these playtests a little more focused than in the past, so they'll be short and sweet rather, like a single encounters rather than one-shot adventures.
The party has come across a hamlet in the foothills of the Spine of the World mountain range. The residents claim that a nasty orc force has moved into the area and demands tribute. With a harsh winter coming on, they can't afford to give any food to the orcs. They beseech the party for aid!
May 4, 2020 7:52 pm
"Let's find these monsters," Zigurd says with fire in his belly, "Good people shan't starve for thugs."
May 4, 2020 10:10 pm
Leather creaks as Tip grips her whips' stocks tightly. "Let's." She sniffs the cold mountain air. "I can track 'em down quick as a whip." She flashes a grin at the party. She sniffs a couple more times as she turns in a circle. With a satisfied nod, she marches into the snow, seemingly unbothered by the cold despite being dressed for a cool fall day.
OOC:
Tip has orcs as a favoured enemy, and mountains as favoured terrain. Also, Yeti's coat. Whoop whoop.

Rolls

Survival to track orcs - (1d20+5, 1d20+5)

1d20+5 : (19) + 5 = 24

1d20+5 : (13) + 5 = 18

May 5, 2020 3:32 am
"That makes two of us Tip. We can probably roll right through them but I don't want to be too careless. I wonder if these folks have any decent fletchers. I didn't bring that many arrows."
May 6, 2020 2:10 pm
OOC:
It looks like we've got 3 players so far. I'm going to wait another day or so and see if there's anyone else who wants to join in. And then there will be some orcs to deal with!
May 9, 2020 2:26 pm
According to the villagers, the orcs are due to come claim their due tonight. So, you can either track them down early or prepare the battlefield beforehand and wait for them to come to you. Up to you!

[ +- ] Description
"Ah. I love the snow!" says Yenelor, spreading his arms wide, visibly shivering. "I say we find where they are, sneak in, and cause some havoc. Maybe pinch a few coins while there, too." He snaps his fingers and the form of an orc shimmers over him. "Is this what an orc looks like? Never seen one." he says in a deep, gruff voice reminiscent of, well, an orc.
May 13, 2020 11:22 am
Zigurd snaps his fingers and points at Yenelor, "That's exactly it, friend! The Brave Companions will not be eluded this day, not with our two shiny trackers, our masked man" the barbarian points at himself, " a Flametongue Warchief," he then looks at the others, "and the rest?..."

"Probably take too long to track them down and invade their lair. They'll be here soon enough. Let's take 'em down before they enter town." Duren asks around the townfolk to find out which direction the Orcs will come from.
May 13, 2020 8:19 pm
Nodding in agreeance, Kjiev added, "Just enough time to set up an ambush. Better than walking into one ourselves." Kjiev looks around town and asks the locals if there be oil or powder for purchase.
May 13, 2020 9:33 pm
The large Flametongue tribesman looks defeated saying, "Ugh... Why is defense always chained to shopping with this one..."
May 14, 2020 2:45 pm
"Aww fine." Tip trudges back to the group. "Ambush it is." She sets herself looking for a place outside the village to bury into the snow.

Yenelor snaps his fingers again, and his body shimmers. He looks like himself, except everything about him - his skin, his clothes, etc. - are pure white. He tries to find a spot to hide in the snow, bundling the fabric of his suit around him for warmth.

The hamlet is barely more than a handful of ramshackle houses, and the people have little to use to defend themselves or offer up to help. But gratitude and hope shine in their eyes as the party makes preparations to deal with the orc raiders.
OOC:
Most of the group passed some sort of stealth check to hide, so we'll say that it's a group check and everyone passed!
A short time after the party makes their preparations, a group of orcs walks out of the forest. Four of them are dressed in hides and furs, but the one at the front stands head and shoulders taller than the others and wears a suit of fine plate mail. He must be an orog, an elite orcish warrior. From what the townsfolk have said, this must be the initial raiding party, here to scare the townsfolk and get them moving before the rest of the orc force gets here.
OOC:
This first round the orcs will be surprised, so go ahead and post your first turn! Enemy stats are included below so you can narrate your own successes/failures. I'll roll any necessary saving throws at the end of the round.
Round 1 Player Phase!

"GAH!" Zigurd commands as he hucks the boomerang at one of the orcs flanking the orog.

It thwacks the brute in the face and Zigurd steps out drawing Red Tooth.

"Now is your time for FIRE & BLOOD!" the barbarian taunts the raiding party whist fire bursts from Ziggy's sword's hilt and engulfs the whole length of the blade.
OOC:
I am entering Barbarian Rage in hopes that I can close the distance next turn so I won't loose it

"Hey you!" Yenelor yells at the Orog, popping out of the snow. "What has six faces but wears no make-up, and has 21 eyes but cannot see?"

"Oh, I like you, I'll give you a hint:" Yenelor says, a wide smile on his face. He pulls his hands back and purple energy starts to coalesce in them. "Consider this!" he says, thrusting his hands forward as a beam of light shoots out of each of his hands at the Orog.

The beams hit the Orog one after another, on either side of the face, like a double slap, dealing 16 points of necrotic damage.
OOC:
INT save for the Orog.
