OOC:
An option would be for the GM to take a moment and role out our INIT for us to speed the order of action.
OOC:
That's an interesting idea. I was also thinking that if ties are rolled in tiebreaker init rolls, I'd use characters' names in alphabetical order... Anyways...
First round of combat!

Initiative
Giant Spider 20
Cassi 16
Liroc 13
Malingad 13
Coring (pet) 13
Novyn 12 (INT 15 for spells) (currently not available)
Herradine 8
Nunri 8

Combat Map (Malingad has already been placed at the entrance of the other room, please place your counters to represent where you currently are...)

The spider will act first... It will get down from where it is and attempt to shoot webbing at Malingad. It misses... Cassi will be next once you placed your counters.

Giant spider's attack (57%) - (1d100)

(74) = 74

Well, the giant spider is once again not used at having stuff shot or thrown at it, so it won't dodge (it will later though...) and take the arrow. Once again, the arrow seems to damage the spider which hisses in pain, but the arrow does not seem to penetrate as deep as you'd expect because of its thick chitin...

Edit: turns out with the partial darkness penalty or -25%, this would be a miss after all...

Liroc is up next.
Jun 18, 2020 10:50 pm
OOC:
Can Liroc move to that position?
and is the spider in the light of the torch?
Jun 19, 2020 1:57 am
OOC:
Cassi put down her lantern before moving and Nunri has your torche IIRC... So the spider would be in partial darkness for humans. -25% to attack... which means Cassi would have missed. I'll go ahead and edit my last post... Oh yeah, and I forgot, since this is a Fearsome I creature, everyone else now seeing it should make a Persistence test.

Liroc move past his comrade in the shadowy tunnel to reach the frontline against the giant spider. Taking a defensive stance with his shield, he swing his sword at the monstrous creature.

Rolls

(22) = 22

Sword attack (72-25) 47 - (1d100)

(28) = 28

Sword dmg - (1d8, 1d4)

1d8 : (4) = 4

1d4 : (4) = 4

Okay, so Cassi is shaken at the sight of the giant spider, taking a -25% to all her tests for 20 - her POW in rounds. So yeah, this ranged attack was really a miss...
The giant spider will attempt to dodge Liroc's attack. It fails. Liroc's weapon bite deeps into the giant spider's flesh, feeling some resistance from the chitin, splattering him in ichor as the beast shriek in pain. The giant spider will also auto-fail its Resilience check and suffer a Major Wound. The giant spider falls unconscious, its right leg(s) muscle badly cut/mangled or leg bone shattered. It falls prone and can only crawl at 2m/round and loses 2 points of STR and DEX permanently! Ouch!

Well, that fight's already over...

Cassi just stands there staring like the rest of the world is much faded. She is transfixed staring at the dying spider.

OOC:
Would it occur to Malingad, using Nature Lore, to remove the poison sacs for their value as barter?

OOC:
cool, we take it, or he takes it and puts both in a sac in his backpack. Switching to hatchets.
"Excellent job," he says quietly. "Glad no one got hurt. D'ya think that's what took that one yonder, or maybe we 'aven't seen the real enemy yet?"
Jun 20, 2020 4:09 am
The whole room is full of webs. there seems to be a variety of cocoons stuck in the web. All of roughly the same size, but one slightly larger...
Jun 20, 2020 4:18 am
It takes an effort for Cassi to shake off the spider's sight. And to even go in the room. That spider really got to her. It is so BIG!
Jun 21, 2020 12:33 am
"Pass me the lantern, him gonna check those cocoons while Malindrag finishes."

Liroc remove his shield, hanging it on his waist and grab the lantern with his free hand. He will enter the room carefully and open the cocoon just enough to check inside with his sword, starting with the larger one.
Jun 21, 2020 12:48 am
Opening the cocoon, you find a desiccated giant rat... but something is a bit off... No, not a giant rat, but a small humanoid with rat-like features...
