Make your characters here. It is suggested but not required that you have access to MOoT, but I can answer questions if you don't have it yet.

- Level 1, yo! Hope you don't die.
- Starting stats: 2d6+6, since apparently that's how we roll around here. :)
- This is limited ONLY to races that exist in Theros: humans, centaurs, leonin, minotaur, satyrs, tritons
- Start off choosing one of the non-evil Gods of Theros, then build a character based around that.
- Also, feel free to choose a Supernatural Gift, which is outlined in chapter on Character Creation. This should be part of your backstory.
- Either use starting equipment or roll for gold.
- No evil characters please.

NOTE: You'll may want to factor in what your God requires to build piety.

-----------------------------------------------------------

Our story begins on the southbound road toward Meletis, a polis devoted to learning, magic, and progress. It is the most populous city-state and home to progressive thinkers, pious thaumaturges, and wise oracles. Born from the defeat of tyranny, to this day it pursues the ideals of free thought, societal betterment, and reinvention over stagnation and totalitarianism.

I should mention that when I say "build your character around a God," I should clarify the following:

- this doesn't mean you have to be a cleric or paladin. It just means you still devote yourself to a god's cause, even if you don't draw your magical power from them
- its okay if your character rejects the gods. It would likely end up being more of a defining trait in Theros than other worlds.
- Gods are typically more present and involved in Theros than in other worlds.

Excited to build a Theros character! Gods ... hmm ...

Rolls

Stat rolls - (2d6+6, 2d6+6, 2d6+6, 2d6+6, 2d6+6, 2d6+6)

2d6+6 : (25) + 6 = 13

2d6+6 : (31) + 6 = 10

2d6+6 : (25) + 6 = 13

2d6+6 : (61) + 6 = 13

2d6+6 : (36) + 6 = 15

2d6+6 : (22) + 6 = 10

Starting Wealth x10 - (4d4)

(4132) = 10

Haven't looked at all the material yet, but considering a triton grave cleric of Arethos, if it ends up fitting. Race can change, just woke up, and half-awake me likes the concept due to the rivers in the underworld.

Rolls

Stats - (2d6+6, 2d6+6, 2d6+6, 2d6+6, 2d6+6, 2d6+6)

2d6+6 : (66) + 6 = 18

2d6+6 : (11) + 6 = 8

2d6+6 : (13) + 6 = 10

2d6+6 : (12) + 6 = 9

2d6+6 : (63) + 6 = 15

2d6+6 : (14) + 6 = 11

Just rolling for stats. Thinking a Human Monk or Ranger. I'll play whatever might fit in a hole for the group. :)

New to DnD beyond, so may be still missing a few things. Can someone confirm Arethos is a usable deity (And not evil), and that he has the grave domain? (From what I know of him seems someone who would, but wanna confirm)

Edit: No worries, found it
Edit 2: Though now thinking maybe not a cleric, but still someone devoted to Arethos. Thinking a clan of Triton who live in or near the boundaries of the rivers that ring the world - Which leaves them with tough skin (The heroic feat option for tough if that's allowed), and she is one of the chosen to go and hunt returned. Not sure what class this makes atm. Still may be grave Cleric, and live with the stats not matching up, thanks to that 18.

I think Arethos is fine. These are examples of acts that build piety for Arethos:
- Providing coins and overseeing burial rites for those slain during a tragedy
- Ensuring that the deeds and knowledge of someone who has died are preserved
- Slaying a Returned and its associated eidolon

Technically, Arethos is listed as Lawful Evil, but as long as your character isn't evil, I'm okay with it.
Jun 5, 2020 6:58 pm
Yeah, looking more at Lawful Neutral or Lawful Good. Travels to kill returned, but also aiding in death rites. Probably doesn't see a problem with stopping people from dying, just not bring them back once they are gone.

Btw, the adventure will begin as each of your characters are travelling on the road toward Meletis. You can either know each other, or just happen to be at the same place at the same time.

Here's a brief description of Meletis:

Gonna roll stats and then sleep on what character to build.

Not too shabby. Have the rest of you chosen a class yet? Just so I have an idea in which direction I ought to go

Looks like I'm going Satyr Rogue (swashbuckler eventually), follower of Nylea.
Jun 5, 2020 10:14 pm
Leaning back towards Grave Cleric. Likely going to try and be more spell focused, to have a different play style from my other cleric.

I just want one more clarification before locking in Arethos - One of the ways to lose piety is -Removing wealth from a corpse or defiling a tomb. What here is classed as wealth. Money, or looting in general? Is it just her, or allowing others to do so.

Basically I don't want a character who will deny looting to the rest of the party, especially if it;ll be main source of income. If it is just coin, or we will get most our wealth otherwise, that should be more workable, as long as others are okay with that.

Except for the Supernatural Boon, I think I'm done with Astrea! Gonna mull that over. She has a few coins left over too.

I would probably define it as something where you’re defiling any sort of death or burial right. So if you’re looting a tomb, that’s probably a no-no. Mind you, I imagine if you took a "well, that’s not what I believe in, but you follow your own conscience" approach, you wouldn’t LOSE piety. :)

Btw, I love this pic. The best in the whole book. Haha

I'm still mulling over what I want to make, so it may be a few days. It'll be easier for me once I know what everyone else is going to do :)
