In Hamburg, you met Vic Samba, an Spaniard who escaped involuntary servitude. During the celebrations from the big rat hunt, you ended up talking and found you shared the same dreams from the spirit N'Longa. You agreed to travel together in search of these rising evils the spirit foretold.

Transylvania

Tired after a long day’s travel, you come across a small inn, the Black Moon, as the sun begins to set over the distant mountain peaks.

The innkeeper is a strange fellow, young but with an air of the elderly, his eyes like still pools, reflecting light yet showing no signs of awareness about his surroundings. His speech is mechanical and monotonous, performed without any inflection or interest. He serves you, organizes your rooms, but makes no attempt at small talk, not even asking the heroes if their journey was good.

You're sitting at the inn, eating your meal and sipping your beverages.
OOC:
How about some light roleplay to introduce your characters to Vic and vice versa.

"While I'm mostly certain there was no lobotomy to the innkeeper he is a strange one..." Ataan announces checking the food and drink for possible poison. His hand reached for Bichura's head scratching behind his ear while he inspects the dinner for possible ulterior motives.

Please just be normal food and not try to drug and eat us... Actually is it ethical to not let Bichura get a taste for human flesh though... what about wolf? he muses inwardly with darker thoughts.
Jun 9, 2020 12:49 pm
Vic, a fairly large well-built ebony man is trying to come to terms with having company. Having been alone and drifting for a while it is both encouraging and intimidating to have found those which share such strange commonalities. Maybe there is hope here...

Hearing his new companion speak up, Vic turns and attempts to speak clearly, "This food. Ok to eat?" His speech is a bit broken having both African and Spanish dialects mixed together.

He never thought much about being killed by food, but his companion certainly seemed smart to him.

His stomach growls at the sight of potential sustenance.
Jun 9, 2020 1:08 pm
I'll wager there's a story there but damned if I know what it is. And those eyes. Don't know what to make of 'em, but it this point I'll settle for a bath and some good sleep in a real bed.
Jun 9, 2020 1:26 pm
Your meal passes slowly, a simple repast of a somewhat spicy stew and bread. The innkeeper goes about his tasks woodenly. As the evening lingers two gorgeous women emerge from the back. They are dressed outrageously, a deep cut collar revealing much of what usually remains hidden, their tight fitting dresses hinting at youthful beauty beneath. They look about the inn and see you as the only guests. They come forward to your table.

"I am Karla, this is my sister Olga. The Black Moon is our inn." She touches a hand to the bare skin below her neck.

Olga steps behind Gerald, leaning forward giving Vic a wanton view, her dark eyes blinking langourously. Her breath tickles Gerald's ear. "Our father left it to us. We are all alone, with few travelers. Will you keep us company?"
Jun 9, 2020 1:37 pm
Gerald's mouth drops in surprise and a small piece of meat drops out of it. Embarrassed he tries to spit out some words through the remaining food in his mouth. I...uh...I was just musin' to myself that I ...uh... need to get some sleep. But ...sure I could keep you company for another beer. Then I really need to get some shut-eye. I haven't had any decent rest in weeks.
Jun 9, 2020 8:59 pm
Vic looks over at Gerald and certainly notices the women. He ponders for a moment, pauses, looks at the women, back to Gerald and over to Ataan, and then continues eating as the hunger he was feeling overshadows any lustful motive he may have had.

I hope this food won't kill me...I'm so hungry.
Jun 10, 2020 4:09 am
Olga gasps. "Oh, vunderful," she says, sitting in Gerald's lap, them squeaking at Karla as if surprised by something she sat on.

Olga whispers in Ataan's ear, "The nights are cold, will you keep me warm by the fire?"

Gerald and Ataan should make Spirit checks for reasons. Vic can roll Notice.

Jun 10, 2020 2:28 pm
Vic jumps up from the table knocking the remainder of his meager meal onto the floor and as it is crashing on the ground he rests his hand on his dagger.

Looking at the women he shouts, "Monsters!" in a very accusing manner.

Addressing his companions the best he can with his broken afro-Spanish dialect speech he says, "They want more from you...more than you want to give them."

He pauses as if waiting for some sort of affirmation from his companions...

"This is just one step on the journey not even the first big stone to climb over... as for the vampire this not so helpful gentleman might help shed light on that... Won't you."
Jul 13, 2020 9:28 pm
I walk over to the barkeep, non-threateningly, and place a gentle hand on his shoulder. "Sir, what's your name?" Points over to the fallen vampire, "And what do you know about that?"
Jul 14, 2020 12:44 am
He says, "Cescu is my name. They... They... I don't understand. It's a nightmare." In halting speech, he works through the events, puzzling through immense confusion.

In the end, you manage to ascertain that he was enthralled by the vampires. He was a traveler, on his way north to Prague. He stopped at the inn and ever since, he had been here, serving the women. He doesn't know why, even now, only saying he never thought not to do so. Sometimes they would take him to their bedroom, and afterward, while he would remember little of what occurred, he'd be sick for days, dizzy and nauseous.
Jul 14, 2020 12:36 pm
"Well looks like you've been suffering from repeated loss of blood probably. Guess you should show us to said room..." Ataan states with a nod not putting his weapons away.
Jul 14, 2020 12:50 pm
Yes Cescu, you were surly under the vampires' spell. Gerald felt sorry for the barkeep.
Jul 14, 2020 1:29 pm
Cescu leads you up to the room. He hesitates as you draw near but manages to overcome his reluctance and keep going. The door is partially open.

Inside, the large room contains a single bed. Boards and blankets have been nailed over the window. A heavy bar attached to severely lock the door from within.

In the corner, a pile of bags and clothes, assorted mismatched styles, and boots and shoes. Some are men, others for women, a few items sized for children. All used, some stained.

A shelf contains their prizes, bottles of perfume, books and journals, rings, necklaces, and brooches, an elegant quill and ink set. And carefully arranged coin purses sitting in a row.
Jul 14, 2020 2:49 pm
"Well this is the help's retirement plan? Guess we should look for a diary or journal of accounts..."
Jul 16, 2020 3:15 am
Emma stops by the coin purses and picks them up, "Think we'll need these more than the dearly departed."

In total, you'll find £20, 15 in coin and 5 in jewelry you should be able to easily sell.

The ledger that you find had not been kept up in 2 months. You can put together that the original owners were likely killed two months ago and the vampires have been preying on travelers ever since.

Down stairs, the door bursts open and a chill wind washes over you. "Noooo! Who dares?"

What do you do?

Gavrel had been in the area for some time, trying to discern the cause of some strange disappearances. His search left him following a carriage to a nearby inn where a nobleman stepped out and burst through the front door.

The man gave him a strange and uncomfortable feeling, but he suspected this man may be the next victim and was thus bound to follow. Gabriel straightened his black coat and hat, reverently touched the necklace on his neck to remind himself of his courage, and strode after the man.

Rolls

Doggo Bite - (1d6, RA)

(61) = 7

Ataan w/Gang up Attack - (1d4+1, RA)

(2) + 1 = 3

Wild - (1d6+1, RA)

(2) + 1 = 3

Jul 22, 2020 12:41 pm
Bichura and Ataan both miss (his parry is 9).

Emma is up.
Jul 22, 2020 2:28 pm
Seeing Attan's and Bichura's melee attacks missing, and remembering the pile of vampiric ash in the fireplace, Emma is going to sheath her weapons and head towards the bar, looking for a half empty bottle of liquor, a rag, and a flame.
Jul 22, 2020 3:46 pm
Emma moves behind the bar and finds what she needs, at least the alcohol and the rag. She stuffs the rag into the bottle top easily enough, but she'll need to look elsewhere for open flame.
OOC:
I think we are just waiting for Naatkinson to act on his secret knowledge, then I'll flip action cards for the next round.
Jul 23, 2020 4:35 am
Gavrel enters through the door, his necklace of the star of David wrapped around his hand and presented in front of him, "The power of the Lord shall strike you down, creature of darkness!"
Jul 23, 2020 12:27 pm
"Your god will not help you here, mortal!" The vampire seems unconcerned with you holy symbols.
OOC:
Gerald is up first, but he will move to defend (with his fists) the first person to attack the vampire.

The rest of you may act in whatever order you post.

Deck Draws

Ataan, Emma, Gavrel, Gerald, Vampire
3 of Spades
7 of Hearts
Queen of Clubs
Ace of Diamonds
2 of Hearts
Jul 23, 2020 12:51 pm
"Bichura Gerald Play!" he barks for his dog to try and glomp the man or drag his around if possible.

Ataan goes to attack once he sees the distraction.
OOC:
Let me know what to rolls for the doggo.

Rolls

Ataan stab attack - (1d4, RA)

(1) = 1

Wild - (1d6, RA)

(63) = 9

damage if the 9 is good - (1d6, 1d4, RA)

1d6 : (62) = 8

1d4 : (42) = 6

Jul 23, 2020 1:13 pm
Ataan gets a solid hit in just managing to get past the vampires defenses. The creature is Shaken by the attack, and while the damage should be worse, doesn't take a Wound.
OOC:
This creature can be Shaken but will not suffer Wounds from this type of attack.
Bichura can make a non-damaging Fighting roll vs Gerald's Parry. If he succeeds, Gerald is entangled by the dog, and can attempt to break free.
Jul 23, 2020 1:24 pm
OOC:
Rolls: I imagine he just jumps up and down in front of Gerald which is impressive for a large dog.

Gerald shaking a dog off his leg, grabs a hold of Ataan in a bear hug, trying to keep him off of his Master.

Ataan can attempt to break free on his next action.
Jul 24, 2020 4:07 am
With a few words of a prayer, Gavrel holds tight onto his dagger and pours holy power into it.
OOC:
Casting Smite on my dagger

Rolls

Magic Skill (-1 from spell) - (1d8, RA)

(6) = 6

Wild Die - (1d6, RA)

(1) = 1

Jul 24, 2020 4:19 am
The spell succeeds, but no raise.

While the spell is in effect, the weapon’s damage is increased by +2, or +4 with a raise. A weapon that is the subject of the smite power does not count as a magical weapon for the purposes of which creatures it may damage.
Jul 24, 2020 8:48 pm
Emma, seeing no source of flame at the bar, heads towards the fireplace, in hopes of lighting the molotov cocktail there.
OOC:
If I can light the cocktail there, I'd like to try and flank the vampire to get behind him and throw it at his back. I'm hoping he's distracted by Attan & company. Let me know if I need to make a throw attack, and any modifiers to hit

The vampire ignores everyone but Ataan, he twists his hands into claws and slashes. The air shudders at the fury of his attack but he misses, somehow.
OOC:

He slashes again with his other clawed hand, barely milking once more.

Double 1s indicates a critical failure.
Gavrel slashes at the fiend, but it's swinging arms knock the blade from his hands. It spins through the air and sticks point first in the back of a chair.
Jul 27, 2020 2:47 pm
Ataan tries to slip out of the Man on Man action he seems to be getting. "Bichura Drag!" he commands in the midst of his flailing for his dog to play rag pull with the grabby man's pants.
OOC:
Unsure if Gerald is still breathing in my face or if Bichura is possibly cause the vampire to slowly perform a split.

Jul 27, 2020 3:03 pm
OOC:
Am I still being hugged? XD
Jul 27, 2020 3:34 pm
OOC:
Gerald will have to roll for that.
Jul 27, 2020 5:19 pm
Gerald struggles to keep Ataan in his bear hug. At the same time he isn't quite sure why he is hugging the man. Must be a vampire spell, he thinks. All he knows is that he must keep doing it.

Rolls

Huggy Bear - (1d6, RA)

(5) = 5

Wilde Hugs - (1d6, RA)

(5) = 5

Jul 27, 2020 5:33 pm

Emma's aim is perfect, she slams the burning bottle into his back. Because it's back is so hard, it shatters. Alcohol explodes across him, engulfing him head to toe.
OOC:
Roll 2d10 damage plus another 1d6 for the raise on the attack (beating the difficulty of 4 by more than 4).
Jul 28, 2020 4:16 am
Emma whoops with joy as she sees the fiery bottle smash against the beast, engulfing it.

Rolls

(65) = 11

Jul 28, 2020 5:02 am
The creature flails about on fire, hisses demonicly, and then 'poof', vanishes into mist that flees out the door into the night.

Combat is over.

Gerald shakes off the geas, clear headed once more.
Jul 28, 2020 12:16 pm
Ataan free of the Bromance moves outside to check things out.
Jul 28, 2020 1:05 pm
Gerald shakes his head, clearing away the strangeness. Why was I hugging Ataan?
He looks at Emma, a big question mark forming on his features, then shakes his head again and follows Ataan outside into the night.
Jul 28, 2020 1:58 pm
Outside, you see for midnight black horses on traces of a magnificent carriage, also black, with crimson curtains. The driver is looking about nervously, his cloak emblazoned with the same mark decorating the carriage door:

Jul 28, 2020 2:38 pm
"I take it your passenger was the one that attacked us? As compensation I suggest you get down before your carriage accidentally catches fire..." Ataan states pointing his weapon advising the man.
Jul 29, 2020 1:19 am
Emma draws out her gun in one hand, dagger in the other, and heads cautiously towards the carriage, near the side door.
OOC:
can I do an occult or common knowledge roll to figure out what the symbol means?
Jul 29, 2020 1:26 am
The driver reveals his own pistol and tries his best to stare you down. "You would do will to not try to molest me. The Count is not one for Subtle vengeance."
OOC:
An occult roll is appropriate.
Jul 29, 2020 1:57 am
Gavrel grabs his dagger from its place embedded in the chair. He moves to the door and looks outside at the symbol.
OOC:
Wow... Great rolls so far!

More double 1s. Naatkinson, maybe try and keep your weight on your back foot when rolling ;-)
Gavrel recognizes that the carriage is black which means that you're looking for a witch.
Jul 29, 2020 2:45 am
Emma stares him down just as hard, "And I'm not one for subtle retribution."

"The Count demanded homoerotic situations between myself and my companions and also attacked us. If anyone wants to see you molested you should ask your employer if he'll do it directly. No judgement but in our situation we were not consenting… Would you be?" Ataan retorts.
Jul 29, 2020 1:16 pm
Emma is unaware of the meaning of the enigmatic emblem.

The coach driver looks at Ataan. He is nervous, concerned for his own life, but resigned to see this played out.

"Let me return to my master and I'll answer your questions," he offers.
Jul 29, 2020 2:39 pm
Glancing at Gavrel, Emma says "Nothing like a sexual harassment claim to put the fear of God in someone, ey rabbi?. Looks back at the driver "How about we hop in that carriage of yours and have a nice little workshop on workplace sexual harassment with your Master?

Rolls

Taunt - (1d4, RA)

Wild - (1d6, RA)

(5) = 5

Jul 29, 2020 2:41 pm
He directs the pistol at Emma instead of Ataan.
Jul 29, 2020 3:49 pm
Emma puts her hands up in the air and backs away, "Well played".
Jul 29, 2020 4:42 pm
Gerald having noted the coach and the driver, slipped around behind it while the others were inadvertently distracting the driver. When their tactics were clearly not working he slipped around to the other side, climbed up quickly and held a dagger to the driver's throat.

Tell us what is going on and who this witch is and what she wants or I'll bury this dagger in your throat!

Rolls

Taunt or Fight (both or d6 so whichever is relevant) - (1d6, RA)

(4) = 4

Wild - (1d6, RA)

(1) = 1

Aug 3, 2020 2:20 pm
The driver lowers his gun to the floor and agrees.

"My Master is Count Dracula of the Order of the Dragon. He recently lost track of two of his brides and finally heard tell that they had taken abode in this inn. He came to escort them home, to his castle. You seem to have driven him away. If I know him well, and I do, he will return with twenty men tomorrow night to finish what he started. You cannot kill him, no matter your arts."
Aug 4, 2020 7:10 pm
That so? Hmmm. Well we will see about that.

Gerald walks back around to the others to confer on the next steps.
Aug 4, 2020 10:33 pm
Emma starts pondering the best course of action. "Should we set a trap? Do we know if any of the tales of his weaknesses are true?"

Occult roll to see if that's the case.

OOC:
It's a bit of a teaser, but know thee that this is not Dracula's time to perish. His fate had been written and it will be sealed at the hands of other heroes far in the future.

You may press the issue, of course, in which case I will montage your failures that lead you to the next battle against darkness.
Aug 5, 2020 12:18 pm
Ataan looks to the others and shakes his head and goes in and pens out a letter. "You seem to make your piece with who you work for so I'll give you this letter to address something he may not have thought about." he states letting the others see before he rolls it up and hands it to the driver.
[ +- ] Letter to the Man with the grabby hands
"We should get what we need and move on, we are not set up to fight that many and worst case if we do well they're just burn this place down." Ataan will state once the driver has left before going inside to find what they'll need to move on.
Aug 7, 2020 8:12 pm
Gavrel steps out of the inn and introduces himself to the others once there's a chance, "My name is Gavrel. It is good to see others willing to face down the forces of darkness," he says with a smile. He's rather short, just over five feet tall, with grey hair, spectacles, and a long grey beard. He wears all black along with a hat.

This is the end of another mini adventure. You can each take another RaiseAdvance. Please feel free to roleplay introductions. The coachman makes his escape deftly, and you will be continuing your journey south through the Black Forest.

"Doctor Ataan Sezen, no that the gentlemen will aim his rage at a possible older bride tainted in jealousy we've a journey to get the things needed to battle against said forces my good man." Ataan states with a nod. Ataan moves small talk to Gerald stating he's thankful he hadn't had a loaded pistol instead of an embrace waiting for him and asks several questions about the item and it's maintenance and design.

Pleased to meet you Gavrel. Always good to have an extra man with us to fight the forces of darkness. Gerald offers his hand in greeting.

I hope not to have my will overtaken by these fiends again, Gerald adds, slightly embarrassed by his previous actions. Thankfully I did not hurt anyone.
