"Worry not there is nothing to fear of Vicissitude." Enki gives a low sigh "Unfortunately some members of my Clan have become very set in their ways. Myself and those of us that possess this unique gift are just a new bloodline of our clan, bloodlines of Cainites seem to change for some unknown reason at times. It is odd that it seems to happen so apparently randomly."

Gwynne tilts her head to the side a bit at the mention of the word Cainites. "That's another thing... according to the Ahrimanes, Ádísa was the first, and these gifts were given to her so that she could have revenge on this king. When that was done, she asked to continue on to seek out other injustices. Yet, everyone around here seems to think they're cursed. Two sides of the same coin? Two paths to the same result? Or are we really that different? It's interesting that some see what we are as a gift while others see it as a curse. Though what a strange, cold gift it is..."

*Henry pulls out a rather impressive stola from inside his robes and drapes it over his shoulders. He gives a slight sigh as he rises to his feet, bidding the rest of the room farewell, he leaves*

Enki listens to Gwynne words before speaking in a low tone "Members of our kind that seem to subscribe to this Christian faith and forsake the old ways tend to view this as a curse as it goes against their belief system. They believe we are damned to hell and lack a soul which is preposterous. Why would the spirits of the land make deals with us if we were nothing but soulless husks, why would the infernalists seek to corrupt us if we were already damned. We are nothing other then a new species I argue, gift or curse call it what you want but this is what we are now and we should embrace it."

Gwynne considers these words for a moment.

"Tell me, though, is it common to... Lose things?" She asks. "Isaac, for example... He doesn't remember anything from his prior life at all, but no one else has mentioned losing memories. Do you have anything that you don't remember?"
Aug 26, 2020 5:01 pm
Enki ponders Gwynnes question for a moment "There are examples...I mean mages talk about how the embrace seems to destroy their ability to use mortal magic and they need to relearn the principles before they can practice any form again. Ghouling seems to leave the ability intact so it must be related to the embrace itself rather than the presence of Vitae." Enki pulls out a small notebook from his cloak pocket and seems to make a few notes.

"Issacs case is...unique at the very least. I have heard the embrace can have some mental side effects in some cases but never full on memory loss, not that it is out of the realm of possibilities. I have offered to assist Issac in answering some of these questions by performing a series of tests." Enki pauses for a moment before speaking to Gwynne "Is there something you have lost?"

Gwynne shifts uncomfortably in her seat. "Yes I- well, I mean, not really, though- I, um... I'm not really sure. It's nothing, really. I mean I remember things, there are just... Things that don't really make sense - nothing major, mind you. Just odd little things that I should be able to fill in but I can't. Not in the way that Isaac can't, though. I can remember my list of daily chores that my grandparents gave me as a child, things like that, but there are just... Strange things that don't make sense. Things I should remember. And over it all there's this feeling like I've lost something, but can't remember what." She gives a tired half-smile, "But it's probably nothing."

Enki listens to Gwynnes words in great detail and then he speaks "Perhaps then you have lost something...What things don't make sense? If your willing I could possibly provide some answers and context. I am researching the nature of our kind and how the blood effects us all. I could offer the same as I have offered Issac to help unlock the mystery of our existence."

Gwynne crosses her arms on the table. "I don't know, Enki, memories are such personal things, and we've only recently met. Besides, I'm not even certain that I am missing something. It could just be a trick of the mind, mourning for my old life, perhaps." She looks out the window as if expecting to find the answer hanging in the nighttime air.

Enki looks puzzled for a moment then returns to speaking " Well the offer is always there." Enki stretches for a moment before sitting back in his chair "The city seems to quiet recently, that is a good change of pace with the wolves and everything."

Gwynne turns back to Enki and nods. "Yes, although I haven't really been out in the city much to notice one way or another. I've been pretty busy settling in." She takes a quick glance out at the sky once more, then continues, "Speaking of which, I'd better get going. I have a lot of watering to do before dawn." Gwynne stands. "We'll talk again some other time, though?"

Godfrey wanders in; hands behind his back and a warm smile on his face. He sees enki and another talking. He makes his way to them.

'Enki how are you this evening? And my apologies, I dont think we've met. My name is Godfrey, how do you do?'

He bows low and holds out his hand.
