The small urchin comes running out at dashing speed back towards the party and away from whatever is exiting the entrance.
OOC:
I just humorously realized... Jacob, you should recognize this character a little lol.

The smell of the smoke coming from the tunnel entrance is not acrid like fire but more sickly and nauseating. Out from the depths burst the creature swirling the sickly smoke around. Many lit eyes pierce the cloud and its black slime jaws open wide sending a sticker web upon Duke and Kit huddles so closely together. They are restrained as he stands guard against what he thought from Jacob’s comments was to be a dragon coming through the entrance. The eight hairy legs scurry up to him and the twenty foot tall spider stands over the lovebirds ready for a feast.

The hag that had disappeared, now appears behind Duke and Kit with an evil glint in her eye. The other who had called the sword spider is now wielding her honey finger at Storm and casing an evil dark ray that begins to enfeeble the Goliath, but he shrugs off the spell and chuckles.

Rolls

Ray of enfeeblement - (1D20+6, 1D20+6)

1D20+6 : (3) + 6 = 9

1D20+6 : (4) + 6 = 10

I'm really sorry I haven't been around this evening, I'm usually on top of the forums. I've been trying to help my parents sort out their issues and it was a really long night. I hope no one is too disappointed that we didn't progress far, I do apologize!
OOC:
Of course we aren't disappointed! We'd rather have our fearless Seafox with us and proceed slowly than fight without her by our sides! Also, I've been basically absent from the game for almost a week at a time lately, so I definitely don't have any right to complain!

Point of clarification request of the wonderful DM... the spider is 20' tall, according to your description. However, most spiders do not carry their abdomen / thorax very high off the ground, and the majority of their height is actually in their legs, which extend up from their body and back down. From your description that Duke and Kit are currently under the giant spider, I would assume that the main body of the spider is at least 5 feet off the ground (assuming that Duke and Kit are in a defensive posture, they would be crouched and ready to spring, rather than standing at full height. I would then estimate that the top of the spider's body is probably at about 12-15 feet off the ground?

I know, I know, I'm being all nerdy and specific. But, well, this information is important for me to decide what to do, cause I have some... interesting ideas. One I've already kinda dismissed is any hope of climbing up onto the things back, I don't think I have the acrobatics roll for that. If only someone had a grappling hook...

Breathes a sigh of relief. Unlike the great majority of dragons, Spider's aren't fireproof.
OOC:
New enemy, do we roll initiative anew?

OOC:
Pretty sure just the new enemy rolls init. We're already still in combat so there's no new fight starting, just a new contender.
