"Death might very well be in that monstrous building." Emma states as she takes the flask back."Shall we move along and say hello?"

"Indeed," Gavrel agrees, "Best to go in while there's daylight."

Under cover of daylight, you advance to the castle. The front door is not barred or locked and you can pass it open. It opens to a circular room, a hallway and more doors.

Hmmm Gerald says, stepping inside. That was almost too easy.

"Don't get overconfident," Gavrel warns grimly, "I'm sure that the worst is yet to come..."
Aug 25, 2020 6:02 pm
Emma withdraws her dagger and gauche, "Gang, shall we split up or go together? I vote stay together."

"Never be alone in a house of darkness," Gavrel agrees, "Safety in numbers."
Aug 25, 2020 9:12 pm
Gerald take out his pistol. I move we stay together.
Aug 25, 2020 9:51 pm
Where do you go? The doors to your right or straight ahead toward the great hall?
Aug 26, 2020 4:22 am
After hearing the vote to stay together, Emma's small smile shifts to a grimace, and a determined look, "Might as well start here.", and heads towards the door on the right.
Aug 26, 2020 12:18 pm
Ok, the door on the right it is then. With some trepidation Gerald follows Emma.
Aug 27, 2020 2:34 am
Emma walks toward the door on the right and places her good ear against it to see if she hears anything, before opening it.

Hearing nothing, you check the door, but it leads only to a closet. It is entirely empty. With no other choice, you move down the hallway to what should be the main hall. At that door, you find that again, the castle is entirely quiet. Eerily so.
Aug 27, 2020 2:47 pm
Emma takes a deep breath, opens the main hall door, and walks in, weapons drawn and at the ready.
Aug 27, 2020 2:58 pm
Dominating the great hall is a long table, the stuffed chairs which surround it now rotting and moldy. On the table are three place settings and the rotten remains of a wild boar, no doubt the last meal served in the castle.

Along the walls are mounted weapons, their blades rusty and their edges dulled by the endless passage of time, as well as animal heads, whose glassy eyes flicker in the light of your lanterns.

Several doors lead off the hall, and a grand staircase at the back of the hall leads into unknown territory. At the foot of the stairs lie two skeletons, a sword through one of them.

Ugh... the smell in here! Gerald attempts to keep the foul odor out of his nose while he looks around the room. Looks like someone left in a hurry. Shall we go up the stairs? Perhaps these poor souls gave their lives defending what was up there.
Aug 28, 2020 2:14 am
"Up's a good a place as any in this mad house." Emma remarks as she looks around the room, trying to hold back the rising bile in her throat. "Perhaps there's even some fresh air about."
Aug 28, 2020 12:32 pm
"Well this isn't creepy..." Ataan states pulling his weapon to go an inspect the bodies to try and figure out what happened.
Aug 28, 2020 1:51 pm
As you approach the bodies at the bottom of the stairs.... The weapons from the wall shudder, clatter, and leap from the wall, approaching you as if wielded by their dead masters.

There are eight in total.

One strikes Ataan, but does no damage (less than Toughness).

One strikes Gavrel hard. He is Shaken and has Two Wounds.

Each of you are up.

Gavrel will need to make a Spirit check to recover from being Shaken. You could instead spend a Benny which will allow you to roll Vigor to reduce the damage.

Uhoh. How are we supposed to fight against living weapons? Gerald thinks for a minute and grabs his rope from his backpack and tries to lasso as many as he can, hoping to pull them all together and tangle them up.

My cowpoke days may come in handy right now.
