I unstring my bow and carefully wrap it. Then I stow it along side my quiver. I then draw my short sword. "Well gentlemen and lady, I have brought us to the caves. If someone else would prefer to lead on through the caves, I will defer to experience. Be on guard though, the dog's bark may have alerted someone or something to our presence. I stand back from the stairway watching the others and prepare to follow.

The four of you stare at each other, each silently daring the other to be the first into the cave entrance. Off in the distance you hear the clucking of what sounds like a chicken, or possibly four chickens. The good folks of Falu continue to be sick...
OOC:
Are ye adventurers or cowards?
"We don't want to go through the blue plant field, that definitely isn't a trap!"
"We don't want to go in the dark cave!"

(I'm just giving ya all shit - mostly just bumping this so some brave fighter type might lead the way into the cave)

OOC:
Hmmm chicken it's what's for dinner. I was waiting for that brave fighter type too.

Mogguth steps forward, shield high. "No dwarf was ever afeared of a cave. Follow me, then."

She steps in, wary of the point where natural light and darkvision switch.

Edit: Added a Perception roll

As you reach the bottom of the narrow stairway you find yourselves in a large hallway, approximately twenty feet wide, that curves gently to the left. The walls are smooth and decorated with faded paintings of wild life and serene outdoor scenery. The floor is made of intricate stonework that appears to have stood the test of time. Mogguth's darkvision never kicks in as by the time she reaches the bottom of the stairs a lit torch of to your left provides enough light to keep her eyes in the natural light spectrum.

In the distance you hear whistling and footsteps.

The dwarven woman descends the stairs and then enters the area. She steps in a couple of paces, shield held high, and waits for her companions to follow her.

She whispers over her shoulder "You hear that, someone's here? If we are friendly, we should announce ourselves."
May 28, 2016 2:10 am
"I agree. But cautiously yes? No sense being to open." I keep my sword drawn but lowered as we round the corner.
May 29, 2016 12:04 am
"Whistling...this could very good, or very very bad" Thuron whispers to the group. "Caution, yes, that would be prudent. Shall I weave a charm spell and introduce us?"

Take the lead Thuron and I'll cover you if things go bad. I prepare my warhammer but keep it low.
Jun 2, 2016 5:02 pm
I nod at Thuron to go on ahead.
Jun 3, 2016 1:50 pm
I prepare a Charm Person spell, step into the room and release the spell. "Hello? Is there someone here that I and my companions might speak with?"

Rolls

Charm Person (L1 spell) - (1d20+5)

(4) + 5 = 9

Jun 3, 2016 6:16 pm
Mogguth lowers her axe and tries to look less threatening.
Jun 4, 2016 3:46 am
Like a smart woodelf once told me, I stay behind the turn.

Upon Thuron's announcement the footsteps come to an abrupt halt. The unmistakeable sound of a sword being unsheathed is heard as a man responds, "Private Knuff with the great Keletan army." He pauses for a second and then starts to approach. As he rounds the corner you see a large man in full chain mail armor, the proud crest of Kelet adorns his shield. Seeing the wizard before him he quickly sheaths his sword.

"You don't appear to be of Nyugatran stock..." he says and then takes a deep breath through his nose "...and you don't smell of those damned 'gangers either." The blink dog that you followed into the entrance suddenly blinks into existence at the soldier's side.

"And what business do you have in the ruins of Balrang?" he asks, patting the blink dog on its side.
OOC:
No need for a roll on a Charm Person spell, it will either succeed or fail based on the target's wisdom saving throw.
EDIT: It failed.
Sorry for the delayed post. Youngest graduated from high school this week, so lots of family and such in town.

Rolls

Wisdom Saving Throw - (1d20+1)

(15) + 1 = 16

Jun 5, 2016 8:43 am
Martel will step forward after seeing that the man is with the Keletan Army, "Former First Sergeant Courageux of the swift Keletan Cavalry. We did not mean to intrude, we didn't realize the Keletan Army had a presence in this area. We are on a mission for the village of Falu, an illness has struck and we are in search of the Noveny weed to craft a cure." The crest of Kelet on the mans shield seems to have put Martel in an uncharacteristically trusting manner.
Jun 5, 2016 4:44 pm
"Sergeant!" the man says as he throws a relaxed but respectful salute in Martel's direction.

"So this 'gangers weed has a useful purpose, does it? Blinky and I have been ordered to clear this area of every plant we can find, so we've been collecting every specimen we come across. Got a pile of the stuff not too far away that we're about ready to set a torch to. Don't want any 'gangers getting a hold of this stuff!"

He brings his hand up to his chin and rubs his scruffy beard for a moment obviously pondering something. "What kind of illness is this stuff supposed to cure?"
Jun 5, 2016 8:55 pm
"Ordered to destroy the only cure for a rampant plague? That's got to be suspicious even to you humans."

She shifts her weight and rolls her mailed shoulders. "Mind if we harvest some of those plants before you torch them and condemn the locals to a grim death?"
