It's canon now. Sorry.

Huh! B/X doesn't really have any Rules As Written for what a crowbar actually does... What do we think it does?

As a tool, maybe lowers the chance needed to open a door by 1? As a weapon maybe whatever a club's stats are.

I like that. As a weapon it's a club. As a tool, you get a +1 to whatever your open stuck door roll threshold is. So a 2-in-6 chance becomes a 3-in-6 chance, and so forth. And Strength modifiers stack on that, per R.A.W. And 5-in-6 is always the best chance you have, also per R.A.W.

That's what I would have gone with. It is quite reasonable, and gives a reason for bringing the tool without making it necessary.

Alright, stamped! Not a fan of homebrew, but Moldvay gave us no choice. Seems like that would have been caught at some point, but seems like for as long as I've run B/X I never ran into it.

So just wanted to get/give some feedback about pacing. I really like the characters in the game but the pacing is really slow. I started posting 5 months ago and we're still in the same building, and we've only explored a few areas. I think it's taken over a week just to try to open some doors. I know RAW and following modules are important, but with PbP maybe we can make some changes to speed things up? I would say don't be afraid to be a dictator with rules decisions like for the crowbar lol. It doesn't feel very fun when it takes a few days to open a door, only to find out its an empty room. Maybe it's just my preferences and I'm alone in this, but I wanted to bring it up. Am I alone in feeling this?

I don't think you are alone; I hear you for sure.

I would say, I check in on this specific game at least half a dozen times per day, usually on my chromebook. When players post I try and immediately jump in and keep things moving along. Sometimes, like right now, I'm on my phone because I usually swing over to my local brewery after work, and then I can comment on things like this, but if I have to drag roll20 into the scene I have to wait until I get home because it sucks on mobile.

I've also noticed that posting has slowed a bit to about 1 post per day for most players since you guys got to the basement of the Moathouse ruins, and the zombie encounter took a really long time, because 12 zombies are tough to kill quickly when players are only posting one time per day.

It seems sometimes the players go on a posting frenzy, and sometimes the players slow down a bit. Its actually pretty rare that I've found myself having to step in and post for another player since we went to the dungeon basement.

Also, I have no intention of spoiling things right now, but how the party decides to deal with doors that are either locked or stuck actually has a purpose here in this basement, directly written into the module, and I'm not just making you roll Bors's open attempts for the sake of arbitraryily making you do it because RAW. I'm honestly less interested in focusing on RAW right now, than I am in seeing how you decide to deal with these doors. It does make a difference as the module is written.

Also, honesty, if this isn't a combat situation where turn order matters, anyone can jump in and post any time they want, and you'll probably get a response from me to keep things moving.

I think the only player that doesn't get to enjoy an immediate and multiple responses is probably @KCC69 because they're posting from Korea or Australia or something way far away from me, where my nighttime is their daytime, so unless I'm up late, or extra early, we can't really interact too much because one or the other of us is sleeping.

I must be frank, too- my posting frequency is clearly not up to par with the rest of you lot. I blame no one but myself for being blinded by the game opportunity without taking a moment to look at the posting expectations. For this, I'm sorry. I may occasionally post 1/day, but in all honesty, my pace is much closer to 3-4/week. More is always possible, but I wouldn't dare make any promising or offer any hope.

If this is going to be a problem, and I would fully understand if it did, I'll respectfully bow out. I enjoy the character, the game and the rest of you, but I don't want to be that guy who ruins thing for everyone else. All it takes is ONE bad member and the relay team loses. I also have... issues (Adult ADD) and other factors where my mind aren't always in synch, which pulls me away from things which are important in life and directs me to focus on insignificant things, like... a spot on the wall, or concepts with no meaning.

The point of my rambling is that I may be the cause of this, if not at least a substantial contributor. I'll respect whatever decision the group or funfun makes and honor it with no hard feelings of any kind.

At this moment, it seems the pace is pretty well set by those picking locks or kicking down doors. It has gone slow, but not through anyone's fault, but because we've entered a scenario of question and answer. This always bogs down games. I've been trying to be more assertive myself, pushing people towards doors to keep this moving along, but that can only go so far. It does seem like we haven't found our groove.

Also, we spent the better part of three years fighting rats, so...

To be fair, you all must be the best rat exterminators in the world lol.

Hrmph! "Can't a wizard of the finest quality make a joke about a D&D splatbook with a horrible reputation?" Eltrezar scowls as his companions react poorly to his whispered comment. 'They must have the ears of a bat, to hear my words so clearly...'

I appreciated the joke lol

Nez, it was upstairs at the moathouse we settled on.

Sounds like Bors doesn't want to hear about the book.

Lol Bors isn't a reading kind of guy. Although if there were well-drawn pictures...
