For sure! The story of Eltrezar must continue!

I should have a post tomorrow. I just arrived in California for the week for my father-in-law’s Memorial Service and with helping my wife’s mother in taking care of some arrangements and sorting through my father-in-law’s stuff.

No worries. I thought I'd given you all a heads up that I was going to be out-of-state, actually. I can't find it, so I must have failed to hit send or something.


I should be back in Montana the evening of the 18th, but I'll try to keep on top of at least this game this week, posting either in the morning or late at night when we get back to the MIL's house each night.

I'm going to be backpacking this weekend. If I'm not around to post on his turn, he'll definitely help out the others in getting up. He has no strength, though.

I'm going to be out of town until Tuesday night, with only my phone to post on. I'll have service the whole time. Just don't expect any novels from me.

Oh man, I had a vivid dream last night where the group decided to kick Eltrezar out and had me roll up a new character. My dreams are normally pretty blunt about what I've been feeling lately, and spending two days doing a Pathfinder Bonanza in person with some friends probably had something to do with it as well.

For the record, the new character was a Gnome.

A gnome, a dwarf, and a halfling? I do believe that would make us the lolipop guild.

Oh man I feel genuine anxiety over this one...

Yeah, next time we come down here we need to hire an army to come with us. I've been at level 1 since September 2020 and at this point I'm resigned to being level 1 forever so let's split the XP 20 ways and roll in with a horde ;)

Do you want to know some wild sh*t? I’m 100% not messing with the storyline of the module. I refuse to do that. And I’m telling you right now as a DM that wants you to succeed, Elrezar just became the one PC to see if you all live or die. He has a language. The module specifically discusses this situation , and literally Eltrezar the cowardly wizard is the only person, according to the module as written, that can MAYBE do this…

I just did not see that coming.



I am insanely impressed with how this campaign is moving back and forth between everyone’s strengths; while I feel like I never give favors as a DM.

I would say, as a first level wizard, unless he's encountered gnolls somewhere in what I assume is the wizard's rich backstory, this is probably his first time encountering gnolls, but I'm sure the wizard reads books, being all wizardy and shit, and he probably has read books that describe gnolls and stuff, so normally yeah, an Intelligence check would probably give you some information on what gnolls might speak, but I'll save you the Ability Check and just tell you I plan for you to find out naturally what language gnolls speak.
I was just waiting to see if Gilly wanted to use her cloak, but I actually think unless she took it off after the ghoul fight (which I don't recall @KCC saying in any posts, she's probably wearing the cloak at the moment anyway. So unless that's not the case, which @KCC can tell me and we can retcon it, lets assume Gilly's still wearing her Elven Cloak.

Also, yeah if you did that to Gilly I'd just give you her cloak as a reward for doing that to her. But also, the module specifically states that that cloak was sized for smaller folk (i.e. halflings and dwarves), so unless you're trying to pass yourself off as a man with no legs, or as a man with only legs, you're not likely to get a ton of use out of it, I imagine.

Also, a quick heads' up... On February 10th I'll be headed to Billings Montana with my daughter and the rest of the family for the Montana High School Wrestling State Championships. It was originally scheduled to be a one day tournament, but there's forty-something girls in my daughter's 113lb bracket alone, so the tournament is now scheduled to run for three days. The day of the 10th they start wrestling at 6pm and will just run late into the night until there's only sixteen girls left.
Maybe my daughter gets beat out before Day 2 of the tournament, but we're expecting her to be seeded #2 for the tournament, so she'll probably have a pretty cushy ride to the final 16. If so, then they'll run the 2nd day (the 11th) through to probably the quarterfinals, and pick it back up on the final day (the 12th) from quarterfinals to the end.
I'm tentatively expecting her to be in the finals for the tournament, so unless something goes south somewhere in the brackets, which is always possible, from the 10th to the 12th I expect my posting may be sporadic and the 10th I definitely expect to run really late into the night, so I might not even get a post in that day.

Was Eltrezar not with us when we fought the gnolls at the beginning of this whole thing on the way to Hommlet?

I'm pretty sure Gilly was with us
